We’d like to Lee for his wonderful hospitality and recommendations for sightseeing. It was a nice stay.

Our “non-smoking“ room clearly used to be a smoking room. This was not a slight odor from the guest before us - people had clearly been smoking in this room frequently, for a long period of time. You‘d have to get rid of the carpet and repaint the walls to get rid of the stench. On top of that there was no AC and the towels were dirty.

Very good hotel. I must admit that I was positively surprised by the quality and equipment of the room. Quick and efficient front desk service and breakfast add to the class of this hotel. The downside is that the price is always higher than what you see online.

September of 2023 is the second time we stayed at this location. The room was clean. The beds were quite firm. The beds were also quite tall. My 5-foot tall mother had difficulty getting in it. There are padded benches at the foot of the bed and she used that to crawl up into bed. There were also two chairs in our two-bed room. The bathroom door was a bit warped and the bottom drug along the tiled floor. The water was very warm and didn't run out during showers. The hotel staff was very nice. The housekeeping staff happily gave us more coffee for our room (keurig machine). There is an app to use a smartphone as the room key which was very convenient when staying a whole week. The hotel is centrally located in Newport and easy to find - right off the 101. Many restaurants and several grocery stores including walmart, Safeway and Fred Meyer nearby for more budget-friendly meals.

Beware of the nondisclosure for the amount of holding deposit. I was traveling alone after a travel nursing contract and already paid for the room previously with my Choice Rewards points account. The owner rudely demanded I give him a credit card for an amount he wouldn't disclose. I called Choice Rewards and they confirmed he was trying to scam because this motel requires no deposit. I left.

We loved our stay at the Rodeway Inn. Mr. Lee has been so helpful and the staff is very nice. The room is a good size and has a microwave and fridge. There is ample counter space and chairs. The room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast is served at 7: 30 and available all day so you don’t feel rushed. There is an excellent selection of muffins, bagels, toast, pastries, toppings and drinks. We would definitely stay here again. It’s a very convenient location and our stay was 8 nights and perfect! Download the phone app to unlock your room. It’s very convenient when you’re staying longer than one day!

It’s okay, the room could use some updating. The carpet is kind of gross but overall it was decent a little better than camping.

Pros: cheap, near Chinese restaurant
Cons: cheap, 90min wait to enter room while my 8m pregnant wife, 2yr son and myself had to wait (no apology/comp), exterior light shines into room at night, room could be colder so we used the cheap box fan and our own (other fan too dirty/didn’t work), smoke wafts into room, unsafe shower

Me and my husband Jeff live in New Mexico, and we visit Oregon every summer. This hotel is an excellent value and centrally located. Mr. Lee is a very kind, helpful man. It’s always nice when he remembers us. We definitely enjoy staying here, and will continue for years to come.

We stayed on a Monday night (8/7/23) checked in just before 4pm. Mr. Lee was quite humorous, quick wit. He gave us room 154 a Queen, not a kitchenette I originally asked for online. But after discussion we decided we didn't need a kitchenette. The room had a TV, 2 fans (no AC), typical motel furniture, carpet, & in a section separated from bedroom, a long counter with a fridge, micro oven, portable heater, iron & board. In the bathroom there was a hair dryer & shower/tub & a window. The room was fairly clean. The bed was quite comfortable but the thick pillows were not comfortable for me; everyone has his/her preferences. The room faced the west so was rather warm. It was quiet since it was located in a section beyond the office & had no upstairs section. Next time we'd ask for a room facing south or east. With AARP discount, the total was $99 instead of $113 with taxes & fees. Pros: free parking, amenities, comfy bed, next to Lee's Wok restaurant, quiet, central to everything, free coffee & pastries/muffins/newspaper in office, free Keurig coffee/creamer/sugar in room, ice bucket, shower-good water pressure, felt safe. Cons: rooms facing west can be warm in summer, no ice making machine.

The manager is super nice, very friendly. Room very clean. No smoking. Our first choice of Motels when we come to Newport Or. The Chinese restaurant attached to Motel is superb.

I know these places that are cheap aren't always perfect, but for $162 a night for a smoking room is outrageously too much anyways, but the room itself was FILTH! I've been in housekeeping and wow! I literally cleaned the room myself and the yellow tobacco drippings came off no problem, bathroom window, bath floor, walls, behind toilet, windows in bed area, micro and fridge fingerprints and unknown drippings along front. I could go, but let's just say BE BETTER! Guy at the counter was cool, tho. Kuddos to him

Well, not my usual place to stay and I thought that we would try this one. The owner or manager was pretty funny and a jokes terrible! He had me laughing and let me take some breakfast goodies ahead of time because we were leaving early the next morning to go fishing.

I had so much trouble sleeping and I'm not sure why. The beds were adequately comfy and the room was pretty clean. However, I kept hearing strange noises within the room that were not easily explainable. I won't go into detail, but I couldn't figure out what was causing the noises, or perhaps they were from other rooms on either side of us. In any case, I managed to get 2 hours of sleep.

I will say the gem on the property is Lee's Wok Restaurant. Very delicious food, my kids even loved it all! I recommend the garlic chicken. My kids would definitely recommend the orange chicken and shrimp with noodles. We also had sesame chicken which was pretty good. Huge, I mean extra huge, portions! We had to take a lot of it home in the cooler. You can definitely share a platter between 2, even 3 people.

All in all, I'm not sure I'd highly recommend this place other than for the restaurant.

I originally selected this place due to getting a discount through work, but was happily surprised by the room and service. The room was small but clean, and the bed was firm but comfortable. Having chairs in the room was a major plus, as was a microwave and fridge.
Front desk was friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast was like most places (juices, coffee, wrapped pastries and bagels) and served all day after 730am so we didn't feel rushed to eat in the morning.
We stayed two nights and have added it to our list of places to check first when we come back through.

Fairly cheap. Friendly proprietor, but makes uncomfortable jokes. The "breakfast" is mostly just wrapped up Costco muffins. There is a TV, but the cable doesn't work, so you can't watch anything. The room is pretty dated and really smelly. Kinda smells like mold, but they do allow smoking and pets, so who knows.

Edited review after checking out since things have changed.

Check in was okay. Rodeway advertised having a 1pm check in (but not advertised on any of the papers we were given), but we arrived at 2: 30pm or so. The owner was punctual and friendly, letting me know that the room wasn't ready yet for close to an hour which is fine. I was given the wifi password and told breakfast is offered all day after 7am. We used the delay as an excuse to get some food and check out local attractions.

The on site restaurant (Lee's Wok) was superb, offering a retro yet delicious experience with the food and overall atmosphere. Definitely check it out if you're hungry!

The room itself appears to have been remodeled at some point. It was surprisingly clean and modernized for an older property. Linens were good (found one hair sadly) and the shower was great. Toiletries were at or above average budget quality - shampoo dried my scalp but got the job done otherwise. Towels were okay. Had a box fan and wall heater in lieu of an A/c unit. Even had chairs beside the bed to sit at which is rare for most hotels unless you spend more money on a different room.

Wifi was decent enough for what we used it for, but unfortunately the cable TV service stopped working on the second day. I tried basic troubleshooting but it was too late to call the front desk. We ended up using our tablet. Also, the Samsung hotel tv is seemingly locked to one input (cable) and CANNOT be changed over to hdmi for our Nintendo switch. Most people wouldn't have cared but this is a potential issue, especially if you don't like watching cable TV.

Overall this a decent property and would be great for most people. If you can set aside the minor issues, it's a bargain for the Oregon coast, with it being close to stores and most of the major attractions.

The room was reasonably priced and clean. I had no trouble sleeping and the room heated up quite nicely
