Safeway, Hood River OR

The deals, price, and availability are why I go to Safeway over competitors. However, checkout always seems to be a nightmare, oftentimes with crowded aisles and long wait times. Restrooms are pretty decent although in the back, understandably. Parking is usually ok, it'd help if there was a traffic light somewhere along Cascade Commons.

Clean store, lots of cashiers and self checkouts but this Safeway is a bit crowded when I go. The deli is occasionally closed and the bakery always looks lonely. Better off at rosaurs in the heights if you want a bakery or deli. Although rosaurs doesn’t do Chinese food and this Safeway does and it’s pretty good. Also they close the store early by 10-15 min and it’s super annoying when the website says midnight and you’re rushing to get there before they close and they’re closed 10 min early. Wish I could close early at my job. And it’s happened more than a few times. I just assume this Safeway is closed at 11: 30 since the employees here seem so overworked that they need to close early all the time. Change the hours in the internet to 11: 50 if you’re gonna be doing that.

People are mostly helpful and polite. Have a nice selection of groceries. I come here every chance I get because of the selection and price.

Safeway is open from 6 AM to 12 AM, Making it a very convenient way to shop before or after work or if you’re traveling. For those who love Starbucks coffee and drinks they are conveniently located in all their Safeway storesThey have self checkouts or very friendly cashiers. I found the organically grown vegetables and fruit always fresh.

Safeway is a great place to shop. Great cuts of meat and awesome selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Friendly checkers with great personally.

Large clean store with great selection and options. Only three stars because I purchased a deli sandwich and it was stale and dry as the Sahara Desert, I think it dehydrated me in 2.7 seconds. As vultures circled my body my wife was able to nurse me back to health and we fled the region. Beware the sub sandwich!

It’s 6pm and the lines are half way across the store. Pay people more so you can hire enough staff. This is why I rarely shop here. Frustrating!

Safeway is an awesome place to shop. They go above and beyond to maintain a safe, clean and friendly environment. The prices are reasonable and they have a variety of name brand products as well as the Safeway products.
When possible, I simply try to go with the Safeway brand products when I can because believe it or not it is the same product but you're not paying extra $$ for the advertised name brand products.

This was my first visit at this particular Safeway shelves was well stocked quite a busy shopping market. I was looking rather worn while still in my work clothes. That might of been the reason for loss prevention tailing me threw out the store not that it bothers me but the long wait at the cashier line did only three checkers was up and running in a popular grocery store many idle employees. Training checkers might be a pluss.

Store was quite busy and the lines were quite long, it was impossible to get in and out for a quick bite to eat. I do t expect great Chinese food here but it has gone quite downhill from when I used to get it 20 years ago. I won’t eat it again.

Safeway HR is without a doubt an awesome place to buy the groceries and the products my family needs at prices that are reasonable and affordable. The workers there are knowledgeable friendly fun and courteous. Thank you Safeway Management for hiring such amazing professionals. One of the few Safeway stores I’ve ran across that has public restrooms. It was a welcome sight as we were passing through town and just stopped at the store for a couple of things for the road. Very friendly service.

There's not much to say it's a grocery store, my main issue was the lack of check out stands and when they did open one an employee cut in front of a customer who's cart was less full.

Staffing is horid; loud vulgar rap music near self check out on a staff members personal phone, can hear staff talk poorly about other staff member's. Seen about 50% of staff without masks or below the nose and asking other staff (vendors) to be wearing theirs fully.felt contradictory.

Donna is an absolute delight. She is so kind and compassionate and genuine. I hope this store is lucky enough to hold on to her!

Safeway is an excellent store but the management really isn’t the greatest, I worked at Safeway for a little over 2 months and started disliking it ever since I haven’t felt good and my boss not liking me leave because I haven’t felt good. The management puts work before family, my mom recently had gallbladder surgery and she needed me so I asked the assistant store director and said “no I need you here. ” And I replied saying “yes but my mom needs me. ” Sent me right back down to get to work. Called out today to help my mom he said “whatever. ” And hung up on me. I’m sorry but no manager should ever ever do that to an employee. I’m putting my 2 weeks in and leaving, I don’t recommend working at this store just because the management isn’t the greatest but the store otherwise is pretty good. The people that work there are extremely nice but management not so much

Interesting. Playing loud rap at the cash register, talking inappropriatly about the female vendors in Spanish as if they wouldn't understand, doing favors for special customers, not following covid guidelines but enforcing it more on vendors, and living in front of the store with their off leash dog smoking blunts. Very professional

Sorry for the employees not having enough help. Stacy was very nice & bagged our groceries so well. She was pleasant & made my day a little bit better.
