5th floor nurses are HORRID. They all stand around at the desk playing on their phones and gossiping while room lights are flashing. Every time I walk up to get something for my mom I have to say “hello” and “excuse me” about 3-4 times before anybody looks up and acknowledges me. YOUR PHONES ARE NOT THAT IMPORTANT! If you’re not in it to help people or your burnt out, do your patients a favor and find another job. I can’t wait to finish with school so I can make a difference. Salem hospital nurses set that bar pretty low.
Also, when she was roomed, her toilet had someone’s pee all over it and the remote had old food stuck to it! SO GROSS!

This is difficult for me, but I’ll start at the beginning.

I was out with a friend when I began to have a prickly feeling around my mouth. I called my insurance company and spoke with a nurse. She told me it was an emergency and I should go to the nearest ER.

So, my friend dropped me off at the ER. TIME - 8: 30 am.

I checked in, was triaged and waited. No one ever checked up on me. They finally called me at 8: 30 pm. Twelve hours.

The doctor ordered a CT Scan and an MRI. When he saw the results, I was immediately admitted. I had suffered a stroke in my right temporal lobe and my carotid artery was blocked. The next morning, I underwent an operation to clean it out. The surgeon was Dr. Timothy Hodges, one of the best vascular surgeons in the country. It’s been painful, but I am recovering well.

While I was hospitalised, my care was exemplary. Kudos to you for having such an excellent surgeon on your staff. I just wish my emergency room wait could have been a bit shorter. Having a patient croak in your ER would not be a good look.
