My husband and I stayed at the Salishan last weekend to celebrate our ten year anniversary. While we had an enjoyable time on the coast, the Salishan itself was not the high end or romantic getaway that its marketing materials and the cost of the premium rooms led me to believe. We booked it specifically with the idea that it would be a really pleasant hotel experience, but the quality we encountered was more on par with a mid-level hotel.

We paid substantially more for a premier room, which I would not do again. Though larger, this room was in the basement of a building without any view (I would have been happy with a view of trees, trail, or golf course that wasn't in a basement), smelled like a basement, and we could hear the stomping feet of guests above us that made it difficult to sleep. When my husband called to ask about being moved from a basement room, the staff was polite but offered no recourse. There were other issues, including a large, soft depression in the floor going into the bathroom, the toilet and shower had drainage issues, the hair dryer was broken, and the bed was not particularly comfortable. Though I appreciate from an environmental standpoint that the lodge does housekeeping only on request, we requested a visit halfway through our stay and housekeeping did not do what I would typically expect-they replaced towels left out, but remade the bed with dirty sheets, did not vacuum or wipe surfaces (which I would do regularly at home), did not replace dirty dishes (like coffee cups), did not empty trash, and did not refill coffee. Other aspects of the stay were similar-the bikes that are available after paying the mandatory fee have flat tires and there is of course no bike pump on site, the fitness room has no mats, and the staff (while all unfailingly polite) were not able to help or accommodate on any of these pretty basic requests.

While I would consider visiting again with family in a much less expensive room, I definitely would not book this again for a romantic or luxurious getaway. We paid about half of this last year for a stay at a mid-level hotel that was much cleaner, more accommodating, and with a better view. Overall, this was unfortunately a disappointment, especially considering the price point and the beauty of the lodge and its history.

Reserved a premier room, come to find out that it looks like the room in the photos minus the nice natural light from the windows, we only had one large window. The lighting was dismal and dark with 4 lamps to provide you with light. The carpet appeared to be repaired in a spot with a large divot in the floor underneath maybe 6" in diameter. There was also a hole in the bathroom that was never properly fixed. The exhaust fan looked to be from the 80's having a dim light for when you needed it, maybe if someone cleaned the cobwebs that light would have been brighter. Moving on, open the balcony door to sit outside and enjoy the view. Except the deck railing was right at eye level which means you slouch or look at the railing. Oh well, I will listen to the busy sound of cars driving on Hwy 101 and drink the poor quality coffee that was provided in the room. I pulled out my phone to see what is around that we can do, and there is no WIFI and Verizon does not cover the area. Have to go into the lodge to get the free slow speed WIFI, what is the password for the high speed WIFI? Shouldn't that at least be included with a premier room?

The guest services all come at a fee, want a massage, sure drive across the street and pay a minimum 20% gratuity. Want to drive to the beach instead of walking on the nature trail, nope the key card does not work at the gate.

There was a water and ice room located very close by however it looked absolutely disgusting, maybe that is another sales tactic to get you to pay that 20% gratuity up charge if you chose not to get sick?

With staying here, you were forced to buy one of the packages, breakfast, golf dinner etc, we chose the breakfast option and we are glad we went with the cheapest option (at the time of our booking). The breakfast options and quality was terrible! The egg in the breakfast burrito was ok but the potato's tasted soggy like they were warmed in microwave.

I wish I got more photos to show but i got tired of seeing all of these issues. We feel sick to our stomachs with how much money we spent for the little return we saw. We will not be coming back.

Classic coastal lodge in a great location on the coast. The resort style setting allows for family friendly fun, professional conferences, golf or tennis trips or other, very versatile. The fine dining at Bay House is noteworthy. The other food and beverage options are casual. The resort also features some nice hiking and biking options. Overall a very comfortable place to relax and enjoy the Oregon Coast.

Great room and customer service, but terrible food and drinks. We‘ve been there many times and it never disappointed us, except for our trip a couple of weeks ago. Every meal and drink we had (smoothies and cocktails) was terrible. The food and drinks used to be awesome and worth every penny, but not anymore. I don’t know what happened. We go there every year for our anniversary, but we may look for another place for next year.

Took away 1 star, as we paid for a PREMIUM view and the room we got did not have a good view at all. Otherwise, did love the room and being a corner unit, just NOT the ground floor. Feel it might be better if on an upper level.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Salishan Lodge. Unfortunately, the lodge fell short of our expectations for a luxurious, relaxing, and romantic getaway.

While it was clear that this lodge had its glory days in decades past, it has not aged well. The property appeared rundown and in need of renovations. Outdated decor and worn-out furnishings were prevalent.

The dining experience was also disappointing. Although we appreciated the variety of vegetarian-friendly options, the quality of the food was mediocre. Additionally, the lack of non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic beverages for sale at the grab-and-go station was puzzling and inconvenient.

On a positive note, the lodge provided a range of amenities, such as tennis and ping-pong, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoes, cornhole, a swimming pool, and a hot tub. However, these amenities were not without their flaws. For example, the ping pong room was cluttered with odd furniture and misplaced items, detracting from the enjoyment. Furthermore, the decision to build the saunas in the same space as the restrooms disrupted the tranquility of the sauna experience.

In summary, our stay at the Salishan Lodge had both positive and negative aspects. Ultimately, though, we didn’t leave feeling refreshed and recharged as we had hoped, and we were happy to return to the comforts of our home.

Great staff. Beautiful space which is really family and dog friendly. The spread out nature of the resort creates a nice atmosphere, not like you're in a huge hotel or anything. Enough food and drink options with the resort and across the street you wouldn't need to drive during a trip if you didn't want to.

We will definitely return here! Staff are very friendly and helpful while being professional. Amenities- couldn't ask for more, really. Location is gorgeous! The entire resort is so well laid out - it's big but easy to navigate. Our room was great- enjoyed the fireplace and the deck.
Great shopping village with the Beachcrest Brewery and Oshen's restaurant (both excellent) across the street, a short walk. Nature trail to the beach is also an easy walk. We had a few small hiccups (coffee maker didn't work due to bad outlet, water temperature challenges in the shower) but those were tolerable in light of the excellent service overall. I do wish we could have used my personal Netflix account to watch on the TV on the room.

We came here for work and soe play last week and it was fabulous. I loved the location as its right off the highway but still tucked away into the woods with views of the water. It's cozy and private while the nearest towns and conveniences were close enough. The architecture and design is so cool and vintage but with an updated modern twist. It was so relaxing and will recommend to anyone venturing to the coast!

3.5 would be my rating if that existed.

The location is amazing. We were out for an anniversary getaway. I’d say the facilities are more suited for family fun rather than romantic getaway. The staff was helpful. I’d suggest being a “resort” that daily room service should be a best practice.

The lodge is clean, up to date, and has lots to offer. Love the outdoor activities right onsite: corn hole, bike play area, wonderful fire pit, etc.

The nature trails were very nice. You can hear the waves from the spit as you climb the “Foot Path”. And the beach spit, what a cool hangout. Crashing waves the entire time.

Golf course was average. The challenge level was good. I like a course that is punishing if you don’t keep it straight. Maintenance was okay. The rates for twilight and super twilight were fitting. To pay peak rates you can find much better courses in the valley.

Marketplace was nice, smoothie shop was a real hit (reviewed them separately). Caught the weekend market on Friday, nice group of vendors, found some cool gifts for the kids.

Food: we didn’t eat on site.

The rooms were the only real disappointment. These rooms don’t qualify as a resort. Very dated. Have to rely on a fan and an open door to keep the room at 74 degrees during the day (the outside temperature never got over 70 during our trip). Having the door opened wouldn’t be too bad except our “premium” view was of HWY101. So the road noise is a lot. Fireplace seemed like a nice touch, except ours didn’t work. Shower had good pressure but for a resort I’m looking for more than a dated shower/tub combo, I can get that at any chain hotel. And the paint job, WOW, just sets a “dirty” tone.

The bed: this was very nice. Pillow/bed combo was great for both of us and generally we have slightly different preferences.

Fitness center and pool were good. Fitness center we used, and enjoyed that if we had the kids you could get a cardio work out in while watching little ones in pool. Nice hot tub area.

Spa: very good. Massages were well done. Sound bath wasn’t what we expected but was pleasant. If anything a cool water option in the facility would be great but not having was not a detriment.

Really can't say enough good things about this place. Fantastic rooms with great views, friendly staff, awesome grounds and facilities, just a great place to stay in the area. Easy to get to Lincoln City and Newport.

Great spot for a family and dog friendly getaway. Perfect location situated between Lincoln City and Depoe Bay with plenty to do and see. The lodge itself is nestled in the trees with beautiful walking paths throughout the property. The rooms we stayed in with our dogs were a little dated and one room did not have a working A/C unit, but they did provide a fan. The food at the downstairs cafe was the same as the upstairs restaurant. The indoor pool and covered walkway are nice amenities in the winter and spring time. We loved the big fire pit seating areas and the open grass space for the kids to play. It's conveniently located across the street from nice shops, cafe, bakery, and dining options.

I had an overall amazing experience at this hotel. The plus points include a spacious and beautiful territory with natural trails, a golf club, and a swimming pool with a sauna. The dining experience was also great, with delicious food. However, the downside was that the rooms were quite old and dark. Despite this, I would still recommend this hotel because of the wonderful overall experience and the opportunity to enjoy nature. Personally, I might not choose to return due to the room conditions.

We chose Salishan for a quiet getaway and it was exactly that. We always travel with our dog and this place was exceptionally dog friendly which was a huge plus for us. There were natural trails throughout and a nice trail to the beach. Having access to the spit with your room key is a huge advantage. It was a beautiful section of beach and there were zero crowds even on a holiday weekend.

The rooms have a beach cabin vibe, that felt cozy and we loved having the fireplace. There’s no AC but the temps were mild and the door open to the balcony kept us comfortable.

The pool was crowded in the evening, I would have loved an adult only hour to hot tub, but if you have a family they will love the pool! It’s large!

The Attic was busy when we attended, but staff diligently set the expectation that there was a wait for food, and we were fine with that. We made a reservation and our food and drink arrived in a timely fashion and our server was great.

The staff at the front desk were so welcoming and friendly! They answered questions about what to do in the area and gave excellent recommendations.

The resort was charming and had lots to offer if you explored it. We loved the close location but still secluded and peaceful along with a nice mix of thoughtful common spaces. The golf course around the resort was also a plus!

Great spot for a 1 night trip to the beach because you can do some shopping and see the beach all without leaving the resort. The staff were great and welcoming too. Room was outstanding, beautifully designed and very comfortable. Bathtub/shower could use an update, would really elevate the rooms but there was nothing wrong with it at all and everything else feels new. So nice to have the wide range of food options too. I got the room at a very reasonable rate as well booking ahead. We plan to return, and I’d highly recommend the spot!
