Santiam Hospital: Emergency Room, Stayton OR

My daughter was seen at the ED. All the staff were great. We got a bill for over $1,200. We have insurance w/ a copay of $75.00. When my husband called to clarify the charge and pay the 75.00, he asked what would have happened if he paid the full amount. She told him they would have kept the over payment!

WE HAVE BEEN TO YOUR EMERGENCY ROOM IN THE PAST AND WAS QUITE PLEASED. TONIGHT WHEN WE ARRIVED THE WOMAN WHO YOU CHECK IN WITH WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. SEEINGS HOW GOING TO A HOSPITAL IS STRESSFUL ONE WOULD EXPECT THE ONE TAKING YOUR INFO WOULD BE DECENT ACTING. THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FOR HER BEHAVIOR. THE NURSES AND DRS WERE VERY INFORMATIVE AND FRIENDLY.

Used to work here and the nurses are just as condescending when I went to the ER a few days ago as they were when I worked there. There is a doctor there that many people have problems with. Here’s my issue: I come in, presenting with a an asthma attack induced by wildfire smoke. He and the nurse (who I actually thought was a good nurse when I worked there) said “nope you’re not having an asthma attack. You’re using your inhailer wrong” (which I don’t; I use the spacer) so I went on over to Salem ER and they had me on an hour long breathing treatment and loaded me up with IV prednisone (a steroid used during severe asthma attack). I’ve heard many of stories of this place doing people wrong. A family friend took her sick kids there and they were told they were fine. When they went to Salem for a second opinion, they had an upper respiratory infection. Just make the extra 25 minute drive and deal with the wait times at Salem. You’ll get actual care there.

Dr. Steward was extremely unprofessional and condescending. I probably would've received better medical care/advice from a 3-year-old. The nurses were talking so loud about patients that everyone heard everyone else's business; can you say HIPAA VIOLATION! The ER staff was talking about how they enjoy smoking weed and drinking alcohol; real professional.

This Hospital is top of the line! They get you in quick. The Doctors are good and the Nurses are great! Beats the big city Hospitals by a mile.

He is the worst Doctor ever. He made sure to make my husband stay in pain.
My husband was looking for a primary care when he went to Stayton. But was not having any success. We usually get treated well by the other doctors in the ER. He made my husband feel like he was a hypocondriac. Being married 31 years to this man he never complains about pain. So when he is hurting it is serious. This doctor let him believe it was nothing. Then discharged him. Now the pain is so bad he is losing his appetite. He is not sleeping. This doctor could have done many things. But did nothing. Now waiting for another doctor to see him in week. My poor hubby has been suffering with this pain for a month now and seen this doctor about a week and half ago.

I would give them 10 stars if I could. We are so thankful for the wonderful EMT's, Paramedics and Emergency Room Doctors/Personnel. My husband is alive today thanks to all of them. He had internal bleeding and 2 heart attacks. They literally brought him back to life. Everyone single person was professionally and courteous. I highly recommend them! BIG THANK YOU!

Thank you stayton ER for getting my boyfriend in super fast! You guys are far better then the salem ER which is a big joke! Thank you, thank you!

If I could give less stars I would. An awful experience. I received a reply about confidentiality which is funny since I literally learned details of my injury from staff in the hall laughing and discussing it.really unprofessional. I attempted to discuss concerns and was promised a call back from that person that just never came. This concluded with one of the most condescending correspondence. Your staff already blasted my personal health info so just come on! The ER staff needs serious ethics and hiipa training, but unfortunately so do other staff as the experience was front to back chaos, poor care and absolutely poor ethic. Address concerns privately? Check. Already tried. Twice.

Been to this ER roughly 20 times in the last couple years. Most of the time for asthma related issues, but others for acute injuries. Everyone here has treated me with respect, I have never heard the nurses/EMTS discussing my or anyone else’s health in the halls (I eavesdrop because what else is there to do lol). They usually have me in and out within 3 hours, less if it’s for asthma. I’ve never waited longer than 30mins to be called back, and that was on a busy night. I am a fatter person and it’s nice not feeling body shamed at all when coming here. Every dr i’ve seen and every nurse who’s interacted with me at this ER has been great to me. I will continue to go here, and I highly recommend it to others as well:)

Went to the ER tonight, and while I was there I got my first IV, I don't like needles, and I was pretty nervous for it, so the Nurse putting it in could tell I was nervous and helped distract my mind from it, telling me how certain medical things work. 100% best and easiest ER visit I've had, although none are fun per say, big thank you to Nurse Ryan for that! Super cool guy

Recently for completely unrelated events, spent two consecutive Sundays at Santiam Hospital ER.

I was treated very well! Best service and out in less than a hour each time. One included xrays and a cast!

Nursing staff compassionate and knowledgeable. Doctors were professional and engaging.

This is one of the most unprofessional hospitals I have ever been to. My wife broke her wrist on Saturday and had to be rushed here from our campsite to have it worked on. The doctor never explained what he was doing and would just leave the room midway through conversations. They injected my wife with fentynol and then after the fact, asked her to sign a release form saying it was okay to I next her with the drug. Our orthopedic surgeon asked for the x-rays on disk so they could set an appointment. They requested they be overnighted via FedEx, they sent them via standard mail. I'm seriously concerned that the "doctor" performed an unnecessary procedure that is causing my wife far more pain. Overall, worst place I have ever been. GO TO SALEM!

After last night's trip to Santiam, i will never go back. I would rather drive a half hour in any direction while dying, to prevent the quacks I saw last night from ever speaking to my family members.

This is my hospital of choice and my doctors. I have been going here for 40 years. I have had many many hospital stays for different problems. There nurses are very nice and careing unlike Salem Hospital. I have no plans of ever going elsewhere.

Took my husband to ER dizziness, rapid heartbeat, left arm pain.he was in ER, ran a lot of tests.finally admitted to hospital after sitting in ER 7 hours. Within an hour they ran an MRI that should have been done in ER, diagnosis stoke. ER told me couldnt run MR
