A nice place to stop and learn
about the history of Seaside
with a restored beach
cottage next door.

The exhibits take you through
the events and places that
made Seaside a great beach
destination.

The Lewis & Clark Expedition
Exhibit tells you about the
effort to identify the site
of the salt works in Seaside.

The other exhibits include
the Seaside Signal Newspaper
Linotype machine, the
1912 fire that burned through
the town, the development
of the Prom, old hotels,
and much more.

The Butterfield Cottage
tour shows you the rooms
as they were used in a
boarding house with a
number of vintage exhibits
and items.

Located on Necanium Drive
across from the river and
near Broadway.

Admission is free and
donations are suggested.

One of the places to stop
and learn about the
development of Seaside
as a beach destination
and to take a tour of an
old beach cottage.

We love it, the lady working was wonderful and shared alot of good info! Answered all our questions cheerfully. Really enjoyed the museum. We left a nice donation for it to continue.

Very informative of Seaside Ore history. Nicely done displays. Personal tour of the historic home next to the museum. It wasn't busy at all.

What a a great amount of information and history you can find in this museum! They are actively writing articles and exploring new aspects of history in their newsletter too. There’s so much to learn and see that I think two trips are a good idea. I love the house they had moved on site.

I grew up coming to this small town museum, however this was the first time coming in almost 5 years. Today we arrived and when we walked in I asked for the restroom when I got into the bathroom there was an unflushed toilet. While in the restroom they advised my date that it was disrespectful to come in and ask for the restroom. When I got out of the restroom we had the intent of walking around and exploring but they demanded that we had to leave a donation because they didn't have to let us use the bathroom or come in. They said " you need to sign in with your information so we know who you are and we are donation based so we will take any offer you have, however we let you use the restroom so you have to pay, we take cash or card, we could have made you leave as soon as you asked to use the restroom" very unprofessional and disrespectful.if you had better customer service and were not quick to judge you would have reoccurring customers but this was unbelievable.

It was small, but fun and cool to learn. My only issue was that the guys, who will tell you all about the exhibits, were incredibly talkative. I wish they had been a little more tactful about waiting for us to ask questions instead of going off on a subject while I'm trying to read the descriptions. Still would recommend tho, neat history about Seaside.

Seemed like an interesting place but no one else there, very small, and man at front said donations welcome. Felt a little uncomfortable walking around for free so i left since it didn't look like much or worth the money.

A sweet little stop with some history on offer. If you're intrested in history of the area, 20-30m here is worth it
