Shanghai Tunnel Bar reviews
17Absolutely love this place! The food was amazing as always! Thank you Mitch and Dan for all of your hospitality!
Just a really great Portland dive bar. I’ve been here many times, always a good chill vibe. They have a very friendly staff, with good conversation.
Im pretty disappointed. The bar sold and was pretty dead and upstairs in not really up to speed. They were out of most of the beer they were advertising Downstairs was closed when we went in. This was a fun place to bring out of towners for food and draft beer.
This place is okay. It's your typical bar you go to to meet up with friends and enjoy a beer with. Not much more to write about then that.
Jordan absolutely killed it for my group and I tonight. A+ service and treatment. Super friendly with a smile on his face and poured solid drinks. Will be back, thanks Jordan
Went in two hours before close to show my friend the downstairs bar and was rudely told by the bartender that because they "we're closing soon" that we couldnt even go take a quick peek around the bar.
A Portland must and a place for locals that live downtown. You won’t get shanghaied in these tunnels. Everything about this place screams Portland. They even serve White Claw if you are on a diet
This place was great until they completely changed their menu. They used to have this fantastic queso, burgers, tofu bowls, spring rolls.they stopped all that and now only serve hot dogs. I mean, good hot dogs with lots of toppings. But just hot dogs. I miss the old menu.
Popped into this place after it was recommended to me so many times. Aside from being an amazing bartender and culinary artist, Mitch is hilarious and one of the coolest guys. Be sure to grab the three dollar mystery shot, ours was surprisingly delicious. We also got to try the vegan corn dogs, vegan asian inspired hot dog, and pickle chips. All of which blew our expectations out of the water for being vegan friendly options. Bar has a great vibe and atmosphere and will definitely be coming back here in the future.
Drank two drinks in about 10 minutes and the upstairs bartender said no more because I'm drinking too quickly. Weird for a bar. Tryst, the place next door is cool. I recommend you check that place out.
Always a relaxing environment.even when it's a bit packed. If you haven't visited yet, come on through.
Stopped here at 1am. Had a few beers. Nice underground exclusive feeling room. Super chill and full of conversation.
Theres almost no lightning in here but thats what made me love this bar. The bartender was really nice too. Drinks were GREAT.
One of my favorite stops when out bar hopping in Portland. Comfortable and laid back underground bar that serves great customizable noodle bowls and other such food, good drinks. Overall, the Shanghai Tunnel Bar is a splendid stop when visiting Portland. Would recommend to a friend.
A must visit bar. It's a Portland landmark and one of the few places reminiscent of old Portland. And, who doesn't love a basement bar?
This bar is so rad. Foods good, atmosphere is relaxed, drinks are good, and I've really enjoyed all the bartenders- friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Perfect place to go for a happy hour drink or to let off some steam and shut the place down!
Cool Asian/speakeasy fusion vibes. Bartender was fun and helped us pick drinks. Chill place to have a few drinks.
