Shari's Cafe and Pies reviews
14I like Shari's, even though this isn't the traditional round shape. They don't stay open all night anymore which is a bummer, but the staff is pleasant and the food is comforting. Plus they have pie and gambling.
My coworkers and I were craving country fried steak and eggs and for some reason this location doesn't offer the regular sized portion. If you order online the only option for country fried steak breakfast is on the "lighter fare" menu which only includes a small portion of chicken fried steak & (1) egg. Not sure if this was in error on the website or if they really don't have the regular country fried steak & eggs breakfast as an option on their menu. Every other location has it on their online ordering options. Needless to say, we are all still hungry.
So disappointing.
My daughter, her friend, and I are in town for a concert and staying at a hotel nearby. We weren't hungry before the concert but agreed we'd eat here after the concert. We arrived at Shari's at 10: 40pm and the waitress refused to serve us and said they close at 11pm. The sign outside says open 24 hours and Google shows that it closes at 2am. Even if they were closing at 11pm I feel like we should have been served since we arrived before then. I would have gladly ordered our food to go, but honestly I was a bit in shock that we were turned away that I didn't even think to ask her if we could order food to go. It's too bad because I would have left a very sizable tip being that we came in before closing time and I know what an inconvenience it is. I've work in food service and have sat customers 5 minutes before closing time.
So, us three young ladies drove around aimlessly for a while trying to find something open so we could get some food in us.
Please update hours on your building and on Google.
Hey hey, foodies, back again with more about food and places. My niece and went to check this Shari's to her apartment. The place was clean and the service was excellent. The food was pretty yummy. I had their vegetarian omelet, and it was good. I recommend it. Go check them out if you close by.
Horribly understaffed, The cook walked out as we were coming out in, Also a worker never showed or called in for their shift that day. The manager was not happy about that one but. They have good service, friendly staff, good food, good place to play video poker. The service was prompt, The waitress we had did an exceptional job, I also won on video poker. I still go here periodically.
Even though we encountered a "wild Karen" upon entry, the food and service were amazing. A friendly reminder: If you can't pay, don't go out to eat. Always tip, their title may be server but that doesn't mean "slave" and don't record people cuz you're upset about a milkshake and your empty "rotten" plate then have someone call and complain about the free food you received?
Classic Sheri's. Need I say more.
Prices don't seem to change. Great food for the price.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Shari's was once a staple of my childhood. It has, however, been on a steady slow decline since it was bought by a large faceless corporation. The menu has been sliced and minimized to a paltry shell of its former local fresh glory. I am at a loss as to what to choose from the bland, food offered here anymore.
Understaffed. Despite being overworked, the shift manager and only waitress on shift were kind and as accommodating as they could be, and I tipped them accordingly.
The coffee was stale and disgusting. I couldn't bring myself to take a third sip. The table across from us had dirty dishes on it for our entire stay.
I probably won't be back in the building until a new restaurant is opening. Shari's has lost its appeal forever.
Family went for breakfast, staff was great! Wait was a little long. But, they seemed short staffed. Food was good, typical Shari’s.
Went for lunch with 2 friends. The exterior of the building needs a good power washing! Food was good. Our server was allegedly a young blonde man, but he did not greet us or take our order or bring us our food. An amazing young lady who was just "helping out" our alleged server did all of the work. Our server dropped off one forgotten side order and refilled our beverages one time. We were there for a business lunch and were at the table for over three hours. I tipped 25% on my card only to find out that it would go to the young man who we saw only twice in 3+ hours. I hit the ATM and gave our real waitress her tip in cash. Disappointing, but not staff's fault. Our young lady was fabulous and they were busy so I don't know if our young man was in training or what, but I hope the next customer has a better experience!
Where do I start? The entry smelled of stale, burnt meat. It was cold inside. There was one angry looking customer in a corner. I only saw one employee, in the kitchen, talking very loudly about some personal story. I called out twice. Leaned over the counter to look. And left. This place should just close and get it over with.
Christine our server was great, but overworked. No body to bus tables, so she was doing it all, but some tables in eating area stacked with dirty dishes since no one there to take them to the dishwasher.
Food was decent but this location specifically was short on staff to the point that only one person was taking all orders and sitting people. Overall long wait times and poor customer service.
It’s now become a tradition to stop here and have the meat lover’s skillet every time I fly into Portland to drive to Springfield.
