Skyline Restaurant reviews
17It was a very good surprise after our hiking in Forest Park. Mushroom and Swiss Hamburger was delicious and the cherry covered chocolate milkshake was unforgettable. It's definitely a true classic burger and shake American drive in. I will be back!
A great old fashioned burger joint - no frills but food was tasty, ambience very retro and service fairly quick. It seemed like they were a bit short staffed (isn’t everyone these days). The waitress was a little cranky but she was having to deal with inside & outside diners as well as phone in and to go orders. Menu includes all the usual drive in options plus shakes, sodas & floats. This is a classic not to be missed in the hills of SW Portland
Burger made right lots to choose good classic stop with nostalgia all round stop by if you in the area a must
A little slow on getting the food to us, others who came in after got their food before us, but the food was delicious. I would eat here again.
Love the small time home environment and the staff is helpful. We stopped here the first day we arrived in the area tired and kinda lost. The owner gave us a great directional and we made it to own new home.
We have Skyline restaurants in Cincinnati, our own hilly hometown, that specialize in chili. We thought we’d try Portland’s version, also w/a mid-century origin. We masked and entered to order. They called our name over the intercom when it was ready. We dined outside, at one of 8 appropriately-spaced picnic tables, sheltered under a permanent roof in an area that used to be worked by “car hops” back in the day (Remember the opening for “The Flintstones”, when the car hop delivered the extra large ribs that caused the car to fall over on its side?).
The space was kitschy and cool w/beautiful weather. I got their tuna salad and iced tea. My husband ordered their chipotle Avocado burger, my 14 year old ordered a salad and my 12 year old ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The salad was so huge, she will get at least 3 meals from it. All the food was good, as were the iced tea and pops (Coke & root beers). We spent just under $48, which has been the going rate in Portland, to feed our family of four. Yum!
Skyline restaurant could probably be described as a west coast diner. The menu is extensive and laminated on the table, portions are huge and prices are reasonable. The chocolate milk shakes are thick and creamy with a good balance of syrup and ice cream. It was thick enough for a spoon but still capable of using a straw. The hamburgers come in 1/4 and 1/2 lb size and also as double patties for each. There are lots of variations to satisfy many tastes. The French fries are extra but well worth the $3,50 cost and plenty for two. Service was fast and friendly. There is a covered outdoor space for dining and 4-5 tables inside. The place was crowded with a good take out flow even at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday. The only downside would be the bathrooms.not the cleanest I've ever seen. Skyline is definitely worth a stop.and come hungry.
Skyline restaurant is located on a sweet spot on top of a hill near fancy homes in a great neighborhood. It’s has a great vintage diner atmosphere, great service, and amazing burgers. Burgers come in two different sizes and have lots of different choices for everyone. Also their prices are great!
I was hoping the chili fries would be as delicious as I remember from Fairs in the past. What I got was tater tots with melted cheese and watery, tasteless chili. I got a peanut butter milkshake for the trip home and had to stop twice to throw up. Will never go back. The service was about as good as the food. NOT
Food was good and large portions except for the dinner salad, rather small for 5.00. Waitstaff was amazing! Had a great time, will definitely go back.
We were in the area and thought we would check out this place that we hadn’t been to in more than 10 years. We were glad to see that it was still open - especially in these times. The waitstaff was attentive and welcoming. The menu is expansive and it was hard to make a decision. Overall the service was great and would definitely recommend stopping if you are driving down Skyline.
We have wanted to try Skyline Restaurant for a while, so we finally had some time to take the long way home & see what all the buzz is about.
The staff was very attentive & polite; the shakes were amazing, the hamburgers were great, and more than enough, & the fries reminded us of Dairy Queen fries from long ago. I thought the prices were a bit steep, especially when compared to Hale's in Hillsboro, for the amount of food received. It's still a good restaurant & worth a visit or two.
Our only real complaint is that it is not handicap accessible, especially for someone in a wheelchair. Even sitting outside, it would be safer for the wheelchair bound individual to have someone else go in & place their order. If one must use the restroom, the wheelchair has to stay outside as the doorways to the restrooms, much like the restaurant interior, are very narrow.
We might be back at some point, unfortunately we will have to get our food to go.
Amazing place with warm people. Almost can call this an oasis in the midst of a forest. We were famished when we got here and they were quick to service us.
Great burgers, more of a homemade type burger. Best way to define Skyline’s burgers is, Skyline is that neighbor that makes really good burgers. It’s not a restaurant burger.
Their buns… are very awesome. I come back, even if it’s just for the buns.
Really really good food enjoyed it greatly next time I'm in Oregon I will for sure visit again.
The wait staff is super engaging and quite efficient, that person's been there for years; always impressed
