Speck's Records & Tapes reviews
14This is an awesome record shop, tons of good music and lots of retro vibes. Old robot toys, TV with a vcr going, lots of tapes. Went today to see live DJ performances and had a great time. The owner Speck is a really cool guy and also a musician. His work in the music group Cyne is a must-have for hip-hop collectors. Check this place out if you're in the area. 5/5
Awesome store with great selection at a good price. HUGE variety of tapes, and also cool shirts and posters. Employees are really chill and nice compared and will talk music anytime
This is a "must go to" store to go find LPs, learn about music and just share in the great expertise of owner, Mike! I had contacted the store online a few days ago to see if any interest in purchasing some very old albums I had. Mike quickly responded and said "yes of interest" and make a time and date that was convenient to me. I loved the store as soon as I walked in - you know when you're in the presence of someone's personal passion. I was so glad I brought him my albums, it was fair price for what he could buy.and best of all, the albums that were not of interest financially, he can still find "good homes" for through his option to let people peruse and take albums free that are not salable. I cannot recommend Speck's Records and Tapes strong enough - you must check out!
Amazing selection, awesome prices and super cool community gathering spot. One of Portland’s great record stores.
Owner Michael is a super cool dude! His selection is strong and offers old stereo equipment repair! Ultimate music nostalgia!
Love this store Mike is a music lover and it show go check out his store. Nice selection of used audio gear as well
A minimalist space to pick through a curated selection of records and tapes. A good place to stop by and take a quick scan.
Used to love the neighborhood I grew up in. Unfortunately since I was attacked by a black man, on the street, with 20 people watching, I will no longer visit the Kenton area.
Found a Unicorn! (Or, more like a cow)
It also didn't cost an arm and a leg! Thank you Speck's!
This place is amazing, Mike has excellent taste in music and the store has a great selection of cassette tapes and VHS tapes as well as vinyl. Most friendly music store I've been in town. On a side note they also make some of the amazing DJ sets at the Kenton club.as well
Well curated collection of clean vinyl.several genres of music, all at great deals. Collectible records on the wall, cassette tapes, and HiFi components & speakers!
Speck's is a small store on the main drag in Kenton that is run by nice people and always has a solid but small selection of used vinyl at good prices for condition. I don't find something I want all the time but most times. The store has a hipster aesthetic and it definitely a record store worth visiting often in Portland.
Neighborhood gem, yes, but also a fantastic record store owned by super nice people. You'll see Mike at the counter, he is a true student and lover of all kinds of music, and at Speck's is curator of one of the best selections of vinyl I've seen (and I am old AF and have like a million rekkids.) Speck's also carries cassettes old and new, right now I'm enjoying discovering cassettes by Portland's own Action Studio Tapes, really fun stuff. And on top of that, Speck's also has T-Shirts, and (mostly) vintage audio gear on offer, and sometimes a keyboard or two.
I have nothing but love for Speck's. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
Small selection of mostly used vinyl. Nice little joint though, DJ spinning stuff on an off night, laid back. They have used turntables, speakers and receivers to check out as well.
