Well, it was dark, so i couldn't see real well, but it seemed like i was on a hill, it's September, -fall, so the "spring" "valley" part was lost on me.
Even though they were across the river, the howling of a pack of coyotes kinda creeped me out.
It was great!

Pit toilets, good parking but river access is not so easy if you have a boat. Its not terrible, but not like a smooth path down to the water. The hiking trails are nice but BEWARE this place is LOADED with poison oak! Also they do not keep the vegetation trimmed back so the poison oak grows right up to the trail in many places.

This is a great place for a walk. The area is mostly wooded with mostly native riparian forest vegetation, plus enough invasive blackberries for a summer treat. There is some poison oak, but it is easy to avoid if you are mindful of it.

There are three trails: north, south, and west up the steep bank. If you walk all 3, plus loop the west side of the field to the north, it's 3.4 miles.

The Fall leaves are pretty, especially on the trail north.

There is a pit rest room. The State Park service does a good job maintaining the area.

The area is also of geologic interest. The Missoula Floods, 13,000 to 15,000 years ago, washed in a layer of soil about 200 feet thick. The steep drive down to the parking area takes you from what is now the top of the deposit, down to where the Willamette River has cut though.
