St John's Marine Center reviews
7I called to ask a few questions today. They had no problem helping me with them over the phone. I didnt buy anything and they still gave me good customer service.
On Friday, I purchased a new Tohatsu 4 HP outboard motor for my Sea Eagle Paddleski Inflatable Raft. My wife and I took the raft out on the lake on Saturday and discovered that the motor was not a good fit for the raft. The 60 lb motor weighed just as much as the raft, so the raft was back heavy and the weight of the motor was causing a lot of deformation where the transom attached to the raft. I feared that I spent a lot of money on something that I was not happy with. On Monday I called Wayne and explained my situation. I asked if there was any way that I could swap the 4 HP with a 3.5 HP Tohatsu that was 20 lbs lighter. To my relief, Wayne said sure. I brought back the 4 HP motor Monday afternoon. They made sure there was no cosmetic defects and that it ran, and then they processed the return and sold me the 3.5 HP Tohatsu. Not only did they not charge me a restocking fee, but since the 3.5 HP Tohatsu was $185 cheaper, I got that money back to boot. I am a very happy customer! My only suggestion would be to have a sign outside that says "St John's Marine Center. " The only sign that we saw was an old sign that said "Suzuki" on it so we did not know at first if it was the right location.
I'm a sailor - don't know much about motors. I went in to St. John's Marine to find an outboard, and not only did I find the perfect motor, Brandon and Nalen were super kind and helpful in teaching me what I needed to know; 10/10 would recommend!
Came in to look at and purchase a used motor they had listed on their website, Brandon was awesome and made sure the motor was exactly what I wanted as well as made sure I knew exactly how this newer motor operated. They gave me a fair value on my trade in and made sure I knew to call or come in at the first sign of anything acting funny.
These guys took excellent care of me and despite them being a bit of a drive from my home they will be my first stop for my marine needs in the future.
They ordered me a new, 4hp outboard. Took the time to walk me through every step of the setup and operation. Much appreciated.
Skilled, affordable shop to take an older boat to for all sorts of issues.
