Star Oilco, Portland OR

Overall I found Star Oilco difficult to work with because of their operating policies. Their limited delivery times (I was told M-F 9-5 was “pretty much” their only availability) are difficult for working people especially since they make new customers be present for home heating oil delivery because they will only accept cash or check from new customers. Then when I paid by check I got a call a couple days later and was told they made an error processing my check that ultimately resulted in a less than 10% discrepancy in what I was actually supposed to be charged. They blamed this on their automated check processing and large volume of checks processed, but my check was written properly, and somehow they missed their mistake at the time and I may have to make up the difference with another check later. I have had a much easier time dealing with other oil companies that allow customers to pay by credit card, which would alleviate the difficulties I have had with Star Oilco. I will, however, say that their delivery driver was friendly and competent.

This place is the Apple Pie of Fuel.
I went in for some Kerosene as I bought some Tiki Lamps and wanted to light them for the holidays to experiment with the different types of clean fuels that they offered.

I don't really worry about the price of fuel these days but what I can tell you is that it's cheaper than a cup of coffee at Dutch Brothers.so it's a real good value!

what was absolutely fantastic was the service. I wasn't kidding when I said it was like 1950s.the only time you meet people this friendly is in the Midwest. I have a funny feeling they're probably from Canada however.)

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes and it was a great experience.

I was driving up in Tualatin area, and one of their pickup driver was driving recklessly, and endangering other drivers in the road. No turn signals, driving above the speeding limit, and honking on people right before the red light turns green.

Star Oilco goes above and beyond for their customers. From great service to delivering heating oil timely. Plus, there is no additional fee for using a credit card. Heating oil at Star Oilco is the same cost, cash or credit!

I use star to fill our fleet trucks. They are quick and efficient. Great customer service.

Using a Star Oil keyed diesel tank to refuel our construction equipment on site, while building 12 apartment buildings, has been a real time saver! A scheduled employee always kept it full for us. The kerosene drum was also very useful in keeping our winter heaters filled. The accountant accommodated us by promptly sending us a receipt for our credit card payment, so we could submit the invoice for reimbursement.
Way to go, Star Oil!
