Sterling Mine Ditch Trailhead reviews
5Extensive trail system just far enough away from town. Varying degrees of intensity, so discovering a hike that suits your ability or desire is simple. Super quiet and lightly traveled - hope it stays that way.
The trail along this historic mining ditch is a wonderful hike any time of year. It's particularly nice in the spring with all the wildflowers.
Great, easy way to get to know Oregon backcountry a bit. Trail on contour dips in and out of all kinds of Southern Oregon habitat.
Great bike riding. A climb to get into the trail from the road (500' but well laid out so you don't have to push), and a climb around a private property or two, but mostly cruising next to the old ditch with great views. Typically sunny when most of Southern Oregon is foggy.
Not kid-friendly. Steep incline for over a mile. Poison oak overhangs the narrow trail.
