StormBreaker Brewing St. Johns reviews
16They have ax throwing in the back that is a separate business that you can order the brewery food and eat and throw axes, the brewery itself inside is clean with kinda a warehouse vibe with concrete floors and wooden tables, the patio area is amazing can be used year round.
Happy pretzel equals happy person. Beer cheese sauce with a bit of mustard. I usually stick with purely beer cheese but the taste of ground mustard makes this one very delicious
Food is often good, but had the occasional misfire (dry pork or burnt toast). Service is friendly and adequate. Recent pick-up experience (11/23/22) was poor, extremely dry burgers again, somehow 5 sandwiches turned into 4, but only paid for the 4, so not that big of a deal, my team got to eat - all that matters. But then two of the burgers had horseradish on them. I double-checked the receipt and nobody asked for horse-radish.kind of kills a burger if one doesn't care for horse radish.
Stormbreaker hosted our wedding afterparty group of about 70 and did a great job. The server handled our group well, food was brought out when planned, and they were accommodating on helping our dj get set up. We were happy to keep our celebration right in our neighborhood and Stormbreaker St. Johns came through!
Storm breaker has ample outdoor seating and is a great place to meet friends. They have a diverse menu that has something for everyone. Food is good. The beer is better. Added bonus - it's next to an outdoor playground where older kids can play within sight of parents sitting at the tables on the street.
Note: this happened to us April/May of 2021. I've had several good experiences before this, but I think what happened to me deserves a 1-star review. My wife and I ordered the nachos with chicken, as well as a couple beers. The queso did have a funny taste to it, but it didn't taste funny enough to send back, just a little off. Otherwise, the dish was edible. We started to feel really tired about an hour after. Then around midnight, my wife threw up, then the diarrhea started. Not long after, it happened to me. Intense vomiting, and at the same time, diarrhea (a both-ends bug as I call it), to the point of me passing out by the toilet for what seemed like 5 minutes. That's how intense it was. It was the worst food poisoning I ever experienced. We were very worried since our baby who was barely 1 year old was asleep through the whole thing and thank goodness we didn't give her any of those horrid nachos. We called the nurse, but we were told to just wait until it passes and drink lots of fluids (and if it intensified we should call an ambulance). We didn't know how long this would last or if our baby was going to be affected in any way, so it was a terrible experience.
The next morning I spoke to a manager on the phone (a woman whose name I can't remember), and she expressed her sympathy. Basically deflecting any blame, almost having a what-do-you-want-me-to-do-about-it attitude, I merely said that I'm letting you know in case you poison anyone else. You should investigate this in case anyone else gets sick. This is standard restaurant protocol. She said she'd give us a round on the house next time we came in, which is not what someone wants to hear after they've been poisoned. Food-borne illnesses can kill people and I feel this person did not understand the weight of the situation and therefore shouldn't be in the position she's in. I think it's ironic that the owner is responding to some 1-star reviews with "stay safe out there" when after an experience like this, I'll never feel safe eating from Stormbreaker again.
The food was basic. Nothing that really stood out as really good. I had nachos and my bestie had a burger. They were both average.
We ate here twice last week while visiting Portland. My son says he had the best burger of his life here. We liked the food and the casual vibe. Great beer and cocktails.
1st time at Stormbreakers. Sat outside on a warm summer day.
We just ordered food. A burger and a Caesar salad.
Service was good.
Prices reasonable.
Food was just OK. Burger was decent but nothing special.
Fries were just OK
The Caesar salad was mehh. Boring. Too much dressing.
Too many other choices to put up with mediocre.
Hasta la Vista
Great outdoor patio to enjoy the weather or bring your dog to hang out (they provide bowls of water for the puppers). Spectacular specialty cocktails and a great menu. The burgers are a particularly favorite of ours. One of the better neighborhood hang out spots.
Came during the drag event with my dad and aunt. Place gave me a good laugh! People are friendly, service is fast, food is really good and priced fairly. I bought a burger and it was really nice, fries were solid. Would def come again for the food!
Added Gratuity without mentioning at time of being seated or when they came to take the order & the service wasn't worth the amount that was taken. I would have gone somewhere better for the price & poor service.
Took 1 hour to get food. No one knew what beers where on tap, food was ok. At the end, they charged us for more beers, so we talked to the bartender and they basically told us to F ourselves and figure out the bill.
Great time with Ilaf (sp? Goes by "Dumpster Fire"), axe throwing is fun, had a tasty cider and burger too, outdoor seating was comfy, can't see anything wrong with the place!
Just stopped by to grab a couple drinks and enjoy the sunshine. They had a lot of indoor seating and an outdoor patio along with street seating. We ordered one of their beers and a Burnside buck, both of which were lovely. Our server was very charming, helpful and attentive. Would definitely like to try some food next time, they had some yummy looking vegan options.
Might be good for beer - not good for food. We stopped in for lunch. There were several seating areas. We sat outside in an enclosed tent... Very pleasant. We had sandwiches and a beverage... The lemonade was large, the wine about 5oz. The sandwiches were not bad, just ordinary. The cost was above ordinary. Lunch definitely lacked value.
