Taquería Los Puñales, Portland OR

I popped into Taquería Los Puñales on a whim, and I'm glad I did! The folks who work there are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I had three tacos, two barbacoa jalisco style, and one poblano mole taco (I honestly could've eaten three more of these. It was especially tasty.) Thank you so much!

Gotta go back and try more things! Went with friends and had dinner in this laid back and welcoming spot with great food.

My wife and I had an appointment and once we got out we took advantage that our kids were at daycare for awhile to use our time alone to go on a lunch date so my wife told me about Taquería los Puñales that she had been wanting to try their food so I agreed with her and decided to try it out. Let me tell you this place will not disappoint with their food and their vibe! Super staff friendly and their food! ITS DELICIOUS CANT GO WRONG WITH ANY Tacos there honestly. Hands down a different kind of taco shop, vibe, environment staff is very unbelievably great!

This is my favorite taco place in Portland.maybe anywhere. They used to make a Chili Verde taco that made me cry it was so good. I miss this place.

Looooved the friendliness and aesthetic here. Food was authentic and a pleasure to enjoy. The staff was SUPER welcoming, helpful and attentive. Loved loved everything. 10/10 would totally recommend and was happy we got to visit. Only reason I didn’t get any pictures was for trying to live in the moment, but am definitely going to come back

Absolutely delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine found in the heart of Southeast Portland! The service was incredible, the owner is very kind and accommodating. The food was so fresh and flavorful, when I bit into the first taco and closed my eyes, it was like I was sitting on the beach in Puerto Vallarta with a margarita in my hand! The atmosphere of the restaurant is super Mexican and super queer, which I love. I can't say enough about what a wonderful dining experience I had! We'll definitely be coming back again soon with friends. Thank you so much for creating a restaurant that celebrates queerness and latinx culture. It was soul food for sure.

If you can’t take the hustle and bustle of a great eatery, then go somewhere else. All these negative reviews are from ppl just needing attention. The food is fantastic here. The chilaquiles are phenomenal, breakfast tacos are packed with flavors.i have yet to have dish that is lacking

Amazingly delicious, fresh, and authentic. I had the cochinita pibil with tortillas and a jamaica agua fresca, highly recommend!

Wander in here on a Sunday morning and was greeted by the owners. Coming from SoCal I have been missing authentic Mexican and I think we found it with this place. Food was amazing, service impeccable.

Have come here on many occasions to grab dinner while in the area. The location is great and perfectly situated along a bustling road filled with other eateries and bars. It’s great for friends to catch up, date night, or solo night to get your taco fix, or even to go.
The tacos are my go-to and my favorite part is that the corn tortillas are homemade.
The pozole was tasty, although I like to have a couple more limes in mine and a bit more hominy.
It’s usually not too busy, even at peak dinner times there’s usually a table or two available to sit at.
I also really enjoy the mezcal margarita, which is the smoky counterpart of tequila.
Overall, great go to spot in the neighborhood to get your taco fix! Parking can be hard to find sometimes, so taking public transit can be helpful to get here and not worry about parking!

David is incredibly hospitable, upbeat music, 4 agua fresca flavors freshly made (cucumber, strawberry, jamaica, horchata)

Order: Chilaquiles Verde Con Carnitas, Posole, Jamaica

Delicious tacos, homemade tortillas, awesome vibes/ music, and 10/10 chips and gauc. Can’t wait to come back

Wow. The food here is truly excellent. I went with friends after having tasted their food at a party. We were greeted warmly. We came for the Chicken Pozle. It was excellent. I also had a quesadilla. It was also very good. The chips are yummy. The tortillas are excellent. They had cucumber juice with peppermint. It was lovely. The friend I went with us a true foodie. He found this place and loves it. That says a lot because he is very picky about what he considers excellent.

Drove all the way there and they don't take cash. This is the 4th place that does not take cash. Really frustrating and I will not be back.

As my friend suggested, we came in for a late lunch around 3 pm on a rainy Saturday, 12/02/23, because she said they have good tacos. She's Mexican, born and raised, so I trusted her recommendation!

Service was friendly and quick since we missed the lunch hour. The staff member who took our order was so helpful in helping us decide what to get. She let us sample all their homemade Fresca. We liked the cucumber with mints.

I was bummed they didn't have tamales or ceviche, so I settled on a pork Pozole. I also couldn't say no to the fried plantain and fried yuca.

My friend for the three tacos, and she said they were good. I didn't try them because I got plenty for myself.

I enjoyed the pork Pozole because it balanced flavor and portion well. My previous experience with Pozole, in general, was so fatty that I could see the fat and grease layer on top and on the salty side of flavor. I would come back for their pork Pozole!

The fried plantain and fried yucca were good in crispy texture and had the natural sweetness of ripe plantain, and the fried yucca had just the right amount of salt.

You order at the counter, they give you a number and bring food to your table. Self-serve for condiments and to-go containers.

Outdoor covered sitting without heated lamps. It is cozy and primarily has tables for two inside, only a few (less than 5 for sure) with reserved signs for four or more. You can see them cooking your food if you like to watch.

Limited and timed street parking for the main road and adjacent side streets. There is no time limit for neighborhood street parking within a block of the main road of their location.

The Mole Poblano and Barbacoa Jalisco tacos are chefs kiss! Their rice was so good too! Love it here. I go regularly.

Really vibrant and lovely restaurant. The owner was incredibly gracious and the staff provided excellent service. The food was really delicious and the strawberry agua fresco was incredibly tasty.
