Taste Portland Tours reviews
8Erik's tour was entertaining, fun, and he is very knowledgeable and has good connections to a lot of food stall vendors. We ate our way around the world by sampling a variety of dishes, and felt full at the end! It's a good way to get to know Portland's amazing food cart scene!
Eric was a really great tour guide, very knowledgeable about the food, carts and about Portland.
It was great value, by far the cheapest available and we got to try SO MUCH food. There were great things you know like pizza, tacos and french toast but Eric also got us to try things I would normally never order, such as Pandeyuca bread and durian ice cream. And it was all so tasty!
Erik does an awesome job on this tour. We took his free walking tour, which was also great, and then returned the following day for this one. Erik is very knowledgeable and fun and the food is delicious. One recommendation for fellow travelers: do this tour at the *start* of your visit to Portland. You'll be glad you did and your food experience in Portland will be much enhanced.
We went to Erik's free walking tour beforehand and worked up a nice appetite learning all about Portland's eclectic culture and interesting history.
We enjoyed our Portland tour so much we hopped onto Erik's Food Cart tour for lunch. So glad we did! We tasted wonderful and varied food from so many carts - Colombian, Creole, Chinese, Italian, even had French Toast and candied bacon. All in all this was the highlite of our stay in Portland!
Erick was great and so knowledgeable about both the food and Portland history. We were expecting “tastes” but we had so much food- enough to take back to the hotel for our dinner! Erick picked out some great carts for the tour and we returned to several of them for more food during our Portland stay. Loved this tour and would highly recommend it!
So much amazing food, had to skip the last one regrettably. From every corner of the world. These food carts are the best and food made by true loving artisians. Thanks Erik the Food Man!
I arrived in Portland as a solo traveler from Boston and took Eric’s free tour. At the end he mentioned a food cart tour which as I had been told is a cornerstone of Portland’s culinary and cultural landscape. I was so impressed by his free tour that I happened to stumble upon that I immediately signed up for the food cart tour and was not disappointed. Not only did Eric know the ins and outs of each cart we visited, the food and history behind each (as well as the style of cuisine) made it so much more than just eating tasty food. We truly felt like we were exploring because when one cart he typically would go to was closed, he thought aloud, on the fly with the tour group and we, together, agreed on our next stop! The stops are great, the area is great, the host is great. 10/10. I highly recommend this to anyone checking out Portland!
We did the Secrets of Portlandia free walking tour with Erik on our first day in Portland, and really enjoyed it. Erik is very knowledgeable and entertaining as a walking tour guide. He mentioned he was developing a Gluten tour which sounded right up our street so we signed up for a prototype version a couple of days later. This involved pizza, pasta, pitta, doughnuts, croissants and bagels to name a few. It surpassed our expectations in terms of the places we went to, the quality of the food we were served and the amount of food too! Erik and Karen were really knowledgable about the local food scene, and we were taken to a lot of places we would not have found by ourselves, that we would have loved to head back to had we had longer in Portland. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Portland to do one of Erik's tours.
