Tavern on Kruse reviews
21Met some old friends for brunch here. Never heard of the place and don't get down this way often but I'll have to come back again once I'm drinking again. I had the breakfast burrito and it was good but could have used more bacon and I didn't reach any avocado until I got to one end of the burrito.the opposite of where I started. The bar area looks really cool and they have Hpnotiq so can't wait to have that with some Hennessy, and the drinks my people had looked pretty cool. Service was great and we had reservations on a Saturday morning but didn't need them. It was raining but they have roll up doors that they may open in summer so we shall see.
Cozy space and great service. The pancakes and waffles were a bit, the salads came out ok and probably not the top pick for this kitchen.
The ahi tuna burger is fantastic- a really refreshing blend of flavors. The atmosphere inside is also great- chic, dark, and moody.
When I'm in town, we often eat here or get drinks here because it's close to the office. It's generally not super delicious or anything but does the job fine. I had the fried chicken last night but the chicken was very stringy and hard to cut through. The breading was thick and had really runny sauce on it. Overall, decent but not great. I also had their version of an old fashioned which was essentially like drinking straight liquor. It was insanely strong for some reason so I actually sent it back. Bummer. Not a super great experience but definitely worse than normal.
Good fried Chicken with glazed drizzle. Enjoy the chicken skewers as well. Asparagus hasn't made my pee stink so that's also good.
We have eaten here several times in the past couple of months and each time it has been absolutely incredible. The food is so delicious and the service is just amazing as well. I always look forward to going here for dinner.
I hate leaving negative reviews, but I was extremely disappointed in my experience. I went here with extended family for a birthday dinner and the staff was extremely rude. My wife handed our server her ID and he examined it for an extremely long time acting as if it was fake. I inquired about substituting a side and could visibly see he annoyed and acted like it was a major inconvenience. When my food arrived he did not substitute the side and didn’t mention anything about it. I talked with other family members after dinner and they agreed it was a poor experience. I said thank you to various members of the wait staff throughout the night and they did not acknowledge I was thanking them or even respond. I would advise anyone to spend their money elsewhere. No one deserves to be treated like this when you are paying to have an enjoyable evening.
Nice spot to hang out and get some drinks/food. They mostly have high tops so if that's not your speed you have a limited chance at one of their regular tables. The food is pretty good, of the things I've had the Crab and artichoke did was amazing. The steak was overly salty but still good. When it gets busy, service can be hit or miss but they are Ll really nice people and super friendly (maybe just short staffed?) The atmosphere here is great and it's a great environment for work or with friends.
My lunch salad was really small and not very satisfying— but tasty. I’ve had dinner here other times and it’s been OK. We would come back since it’s not bad and the ambience (with outdoor seating is nice).
It is our favorite "nice" restaurant we go to regularly. Food is always delicious, yet we can dress casually. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Cool place to play music at, and excellent front of house staff. They covered my drink when it was forgotten, which was nice of the bartender. I had the glazed fried chicken. The fry on the chicken was amazing, but the glaze was waaaaayyyyy too sweet, and ran over the whole plate into the two sides, making everything super sugary and nearly inedible. I've heard other stuff on the menu is really good, but I have yet to try.
Their food is fantastic and up to date. Great cocktails and appetizers! It is a little pricey. Also very loud inside and the seating isn't terribly comfortable. But I would go again. It is hip.
The patio on a summer evening is lovely! It also adds a lot more seating, although you should still need to get a reservation. The service is good. The menu changes with the seasons. I love to try seasonal specialties. I love gazpacho and it was fun to try a new variety with melons and avocados, although I would have liked it spicier. The presentation of the pork chop was beautiful and it was very tender. The cocktails are also good! I have consistently enjoyed my meals and this time I also enjoyed the jazz band playing music in the background.
Messy reservations
Called a min ago and told tables available but reservations system is down. When we arrived it says full and an hour wait but we see many empty tables. I think they cherry pick customers.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and it had always been good, but our last few visits were really disappointing. My husband and I both ordered the chicken and it was horribly over cooked, basically jerky. Our waiter was really nice and gave us one of our dinners for free. The time before that we were with a group celebrating an anniversary and our waiter was awful, rude and uninterested in helping us.
I suspect they’ve had some turn over and the high quality they used to have has slipped a bit. They are no longer worth the cost.
Worst restaurant experience I have ever encountered. Host staff was rude, and appeared bothered that we arrived for our reservation. Server was rude, slammed a kids menu down and was genuinely upset that my 10 year old requested a grilled cheese. Brought lipstick stained mug. Waited for over 40 minutes before leaving and never received our appetizer. They were not busy, just too bothered to actually work. I don’t understand how they are still in business. Maybe the food is good? We will never know, because you couldn’t pay me to go back!
Just enjoyed a lunch here. Great service, pleasant outdoor seating (inside looked great as well), and the food was fantastic. Enjoyed a couple fun and tasty cocktails, as well. Found it well worth the price (which wasn't very expensive, either).
Happy hour on the patio, food and service were great and the jazz was stellar! Loved the mushroom flatbread, new on the menu.
Came back because had a great lunch previously. This time wasn’t good. Lunch menu no longer available at 2: 45pm, happy hour instead with not too many options. Burned inedible cheeseburger replaced by the chicken (thanks for that), found exact same chicken in the ceasar salad. Almost no people in the restaurant but no refills for the water offered. My intent of coming was to get the same cuban sandwich I had last time which was awesome. Overall not good experience this time.
Was able to organize a happy hour for my co-workers (about 12 of us). They were able to connect me to the events team and setup a few tables for us with only 1 days notice.
When organizing a larger group like this, they like to get a few items pre-ordered for the table. Its a great way to have food on the table fast and allows them to have a minimum commitment of what the group is ordering.
Great experience and can see us coming here again for another happy hour.
