The Human Bean reviews
15I first discovered The Human Bean when I visited Bend several years ago. I was thrilled that they opened a location not far from where I live. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The interior is pleasant (it's a former KFC). The coffee and coffee drinks are superb. I usually use drive up.
Nice big tables and wifi for getting some work done, wasn't too busy inside on a Monday afternoon. Matcha latte was tasty. Took away a star because the whole place was so, so cold! Overly air conditioned on a very mild day. Friend I was with started shivering. Saw employees wearing sweaters in June. Do they not have a fridge and just make the whole place a good safe temp? Why is it so cold? !
This place was dirty, likely because they were obviously understaffed. When there was a problem with my drink the staff did what they could to fix it but they had limited options. It was clear to me they were under pressure from local management to push back instead of focus on taking care of the customer. Normally I love the human bean but I would not recommend this location.
Honestly when I come to this drive through I am always surprised by how friendly the baristas are. Like aggressively friendly. It really brightens my day — and makes me feel like they might be plotting something. A wonderful drive through experience.
Inside it felt a lot like Starbucks, but with a few different drinks. It also had the same food as Starbucks, so when I went wanting to try something new there wasn't that many options. It wasn't a bad place. They did put a chocolate covered espresso bean on top of your drink.
So much variety in the options! Service was great, the staff were super friendly. Will definitely return!
Good for a quick stop before work or your destination. I got a oat milk chai that was decent. A little overpriced for the quality but the baristas were friendly and accommodating. If you have a few minutes to spare, it’s worth sitting down at a local cafe. Better drive through than Starbucks though!
Decided to finally try this place, but was disappointed to discover on opening the drive-through bag at home that the muffins aren't fresh baked, they're individually plastic-wrapped, cold, and contain artificial flavors and colors. Wish I hadn't bought them
I walk to this place about 2 times a week to get coffee. Everyone is always nice and the place is very clean. I also found out there is an app I can get rewards on as well.
Quick service, great coffee. Only coffee place in town that I know of that gives you an espresso bean.
This may not be the most top-of-the-line gourmet type perfectionistic roasted coffee beans I know of in Portland, but to me it’s pretty darn smooth and rich as far as the brew. And the main reason why I like it is because it’s got more different flavors for your coffee or lattes then anywhere I can find it all of Portland.
I love Human Bean and brought my friends along to introduce them to it but they ran out of the cookies I love so much. They’re cookies are the greatest. 5 stars when they have all the cookies though.
Great service and good coffee! If you haven't been here before try the snowy mocha, it's the bomb
Staff are friendly and quick. Clean, free wifi, and always get the chocolate covered coffee bean!
I always love coming here. There's one in Vegas where I currently live. I'm in town for business and saw there was one a couple miles. And not only that, one I could walk in and order. The ones in Vegas only have drive-thru which is still fine with me. Was SO happy to see there was one nearby and I'm glad we got to say we tried the Human Bean in Portland ️
