The Meating Place reviews
20Ordered our Meats for Christmas and New Year's a total of 26lbs of Prime Rib and a custom order of pork belly. Excellent service with a very helpful staff. We will go back many times its so nice to have a butcher shop on the Westside
As a business owner I understand customer service. Mobile slaughter came out, and Andrew was amazing. I have never seen this before, and it was so educational. Andrew was great!
Great selection of stuff and I do love the fact that they have local product. Definitely will make an effort next time I need meats to come here: D
This place is incredible. People that work there are awesome! If you are not buying your meat here you are doing it wrong!
They are such buddies to me. Always taking care of everything. Butcher shop is perfectly clean, and I’ve never purchased anything from the Meating Place that wasn’t top notch.
I am also a business owner, so I dont usually give a bad review. I was so shocked at the prices they can't help saying something. I Drive up from just South of Portland every week and buy my meat at gardeners meets. I saw this shop advertised on channel 12 and I looked good so I thought I would make the journey! The meat appeared to be average and nothing Really inspired me to try something do. I love to cook and try new things but there was nothing out of the ordinary here. What was amazingly shocking to me was the price! It was an easy 4 to $5 a pound more for every thing more then at gardeners meets. If I was to buy all of my meat for the week here it would cost me an extra 60 to $80 more then where I usually shop.
I have always been a fan of this place. I have taken numerous wild game animals in over the years and they are always courteous, professional and typically very close to the lead time they tell you. The products they provide (jerky, summer sausage, pepperoni) are all top notch and amazing. I do still need to make it into the cafe and eat some food but I'm sure it will not disappoint!
This was my first time visiting the Meating Place and I like the aura of the shop, it's clean and we'll kept with a large variety of meats and other confections. I tried the regular and Elk pepperoni Sticks, the jerky, and chorizo, typically I am pretty critical of jerkys but I must admit that their jerky has a unique flavor profile and very tasty. I really like the chorizo and would consider this my favorite. I prefer the Elk pepperoni stick over the the regular. I would also give the sticks a thumbs up. I will definitely go back to sample more of the merchandise!
Was really excited to try this place. Ordered the pulled pork breakfast burrito, French dip and elk chili. Let's just say we were less than satisfied with the quality. The breakfast burrito had a few small pieces of pulled pork and a HUGE chunk of fat in it, about 1.5 inches wide and 3-4 inches long. Not sure how they didn't realize they were putting a huge piece of fat in the burrito. Nothing more gross than biting into a huge slimy piece of pork fat. Basically I paid $10 for a pork fat burrito. The potatoes veggies and eggs in burrito didn't seem to be seasoned at all. It was all very bland. I took just a few bites and I was done. The French dip was just ok. The meat did not have much flavor but the auju was good. The elk chili was pretty good.
Only been here a few times, but always worth our trip out from Gresham. Excellent product and great customer service - highly recommend!
The meat at the butcher shop is excellent. Food at the Cafe is outstanding. All around quality food. Staff is really nice. Great place!
Good food but there’s always a line. Don’t bother ordering online - we ordered at 11: 30 and was told our order would be ready at 12: 15. When we got there they started making it and we waited an extra 30 mins.
I’ve had 4 hogs done here, Andrew is a great mobile butcher, all my meat is done to my specifications, the bacon is cut thick and isn’t overly salted, the bratwursts are amazing, the Italian sausage isn’t overly Italian, everything is just done very well. They have my business for life
Had a delicious roast beef sandwich. Can't believe this was here so close and didn't know it. Will certainly be back. Just glanced at the butcher shop but it looks great. I often have to pick up sandwiches for work meetings and think these would really be enjoyed.
Tried for the first time yesterday and couldn't resist going back to pick up something for my coworker and myself for lunch today. He said the French dip was fabulous, with great au jus. My reuben was the best have ever had. Didn't know corned beef could be that succulent, not too salty either. Want to see if they sell the sauerkraut. Even the swiss cheese was flavorful. Good thing this place is not open for dinner when I'm hungry and on my way home, would be too dangerous.
I had a pulled BBQ sandwich the bread was very soggy the barbecued pork had a large bone and a large piece of gristle in it beam coleslaw That was supposed to be on it was only peppercorns sauce and onion with pickle it was not very appetizing
On the downside I only managed to stop in here once for some steaks, chicken and sausage. On the plus side, I was blown away for the amazing quality of their food, the selection of meats and how clean and polite the staff were. I've heard people talk about this place non stop and now I know why. I hope that when I'm finished with my summer projects and have some time that I can become a regular customer here. The place is just amazing!
We found this place online and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed in the quality of butchered meats, however I am only giving 2 stars for a few reasons. The deli sandwich we had was lackluster and overloaded with mayonnaise. We tried the gouda mac salad which was definitely over sauced which made it too salty, for our taste. We tried the hickory smoked bacon. It was a great cut, nice and thick, meaty, but again, wayyy too much salt. We couldn't even eat it, had to throw it out. The maple breakfast sausage was not bad and the chicken gouda sausage was just ok. I'm not a big fan of biting into large chunks of garlic unexpectedly. Our favorite were the bone in porkchops. Very juicy and delicious, but that was to be expected as the pork is from Carlton Farms. We have yet to try the ground beef or the steak we purchased. Overall, they are good for their butchered meats but that's about it, for us anyway. Definitely disappointing.
My friend recommended this place to me, everything they sell looks very high quality and delicious:) I just bought some jerky but it was the best jerky I ever had, so I'm going back to buy more and maybe some steaks too. I'm not buying jerky anywhere else ever again
When you hear that there's a cafe that has burgers and sandwiches, you don't get your hopes up. There's one of those on every corner.
But then, there's a spot like The Meating Place. Sure, it's burgers and sandwiches, but the difference is you can taste the care and thought that went into the planning and preparation of each menu item. You still might not care for the flavors (I wasn't in love with the Gouda Mac) but you can tell that there was a good deal of care put into the meal.
Come and try something, you won't regret it.
