Just spent a few days here and it was very nice! They accommodated me and my large Saint Bernard dog! The Urban Farmhouse restaurant inside is very good as well!

We came in on a rainy Friday evening. Our valet, David, took care of our car and belongings. The location is excellent as your steps away from J. Crew, Nordstrom, and The Rack. Hotel accommodated our late-check out time of 2 PM on Sunday.

Our front desk receptionist confirmed turndown service at check-in. After a long day away, our room was not cared for. In short, we expected the Nines to preserve the core guest experience: towels refreshed and the bed made - a staple for any hotel stay. The front desk was apologetic and comped us our coffee (a $15 value) and gave another $15 credit.

We ordered coffee from Urban Farmer which arrived late. The time from order to delivery was 30+ minutes for a single pot of coffee. That's not necessarily bad but what left a bad taste in my mouth wasn't the subpar coffee but the 20% gratuity automatically added to the check.

For management, consider the guest experience in its totality rather than the individual functions of your staff. The lack of coordination, especially during crunch times, resulted in subpar service.

Weird shaped rooms, few suites, generally a history of less than stellar treatment of elite hotel brand loyalty members. Great bar and restaurants. Downtown Portland is a mess right now, but at least the place is open. A mixed bag these days, a casualty of the purchase of SPG by Marriott, independent of Portland's problems.

Beautiful hotel, rooms were big and well designed, great colours, nicely designed bathrooms. Love the long couch in the room. The bed / pillows was perhaps the best we have ever slept on - going to ask them the brand to get for home! The rooftop restaurant/bar was also great. Only negatives - bathroom exhaust fan didn't work so the bathroom got steamy during showers and smelly at other times. Also no coffee in the room which is a bit poor given the price. Wish they had a bath. Foyer/lobby/sitting area very interesting and cool.

I personally had a frustrating experience with items that went missing. A claim was submitted, but it ultimately got denied. Mind you, the total cost of these items were around $100 (not a huge loss, but still upsetting). When I called the hotel, they stated that they were following protocol and that there was nothing they could do since I couldn't prove that they were liable. What's frustrating is that I know they make exceptions to these protocols for other guests, so I felt somewhat discriminated against. I will not be returning.

If I’m going to a Luxury hotel and I’m paying luxury prices. I expect luxury service. When I walked in the doorman was not at the door. The receptionist was not at the desk. When he finally arrives he tells me how to proceed, as this is my first stay. I go to the next receptionist on the 8th floor I believe and I am greeted by a middle aged white women who seemed distraught at the fact that they finally had customers and that they “probably paid for the room with stimulus checks. ” Idk why it’s her business, her business is to HELP not judge the guest. I finally get to the room and it is very nice but there is no sound proofing on the door so you can hear drunk ppl walk up and down the hall all night. I’ve stayed at motel 6 with better sound proofing. If I’m paying for luxury I’m paying for the little details like someone to smile at me, say hello and open the door, or the receptionist not to talk down her guest.

I stayed here while visiting my sister for the weekend. I was Upgraded upon check-in which was lovely. I got a nice corner room that faced pioneer square and had some nice city views. I would say to those who are sensitive to noise this may not be the best side of the hotel for you that’s because the lite rail train (MAX) travels along both sides of the hotel and begins service at 5am. Lots of bells ringing and train noise—which didn’t bother me I slept thru it, just an FYI for other travelers. The bar and restaurant were great too. I had a drink called the 3 day weekend (pictured) it was great and I’d love to make it at home. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were nicely laid out. The gym was FANTASTIC. It was very clean and they even had 2 peloton bikes. The host at the restaurant (I think Sandra) was also great too. She remembered my name after my first visit and called me by name all weekend—fantastic customer service. Nothing but good things to say about this hotel. You should definitely book.

UPSCALE HOTEL IS GREAT, RESTAURANT - NOT SO MUCH.
Absolute luxury - a beautiful spacious room, comfy beds with big fluffy comforters and pillows I'd like to have at home. Excellent decor throughout was more modern than I like, but my companion loved it. Every employee we encountered was entirely accommodating and pleasant.
Two things about the room were not great: The bed closest to the door was fine, but the "heat" vent blew cold air directly down onto the second bed - I had to wrap up like a mummy to stay warm and then, when the fan turned off, would wake up sweating. (Describing this to the desk clerk resulted in only a nod and smile.) The pretty crystal chandeliers need to be dusted from time to time. They were the only things that were quite dirty in our otherwise pristine room.

The Urban Farm restaurant was a real disappointment. The service was as great as you'd expect, and the prices steep, also expected. However.my companion ordered scallops - $35 (without side dishes or salad), and was served exactly THREE scallops. She wanted a light meal, but this was barely an appetizer.
I ordered an 8 OZ fillet, but was brought a ribeye steak instead. Not wanting to see it thrown out, I kept it - but I shouldn't have. This $52 steak was a huge disappointment. Only about 1/3 of it was edible - though that portion was absolutely delicious - the rest was overcooked, tough, and/or fat and gristle. To the credit of our server he removed the charge for it.
The side dishes are quite costly and nowhere on the menu does it mention that one side dish is adequate to feed four people, nor did our waiter bother to mention the quantity would be so large. The brussel sprouts were absolutely the best I've ever had.but they were $14, and I could eat only about 1/4 of the very large serving. Same with my companion's sweet potatoes. One side would have been more than enough for both of us, but we had no way to know this until they were served.then it's too late. A waste of both the wonderful food and our money.

During the Ice Storm 2021 our neighborhood lost power due to falling trees and power lines, so we were without heat and woke up very early, very cold. Called over to this hotel and explained the situation and we were invited to grab a room and check in early, as they had clean and warm rooms ready this morning. We were able to check in at 9am, a full 5 or so hours before normal check in time, at no extra charge. It was so refreshing to be treated so well during a time when we needed it most. A very special thanks and lots of love go out to the entire staff, who were so welcoming and accommodating for my family. Big love from us! <3

Really beautiful hotel, nicely located near restaurants and bars. Grounds were clean, staff was friendly. A bit pricey for the room. And wish there were a bathtub- instead of just shower in the bathroom. But very nice overall.

Beautiful hotel and lovely whiskey selection at the bar. However, 30 meters outside the entrance door my wife, children, and I were aggressively approached by two separate homeless people. Homelessness has always been a problem in Portland, but the problem will only continue to worsen. Some main sidewalks are physically impassable! I’m sorry to say we will no longer be visiting Portland.

I will keep this short. Winter storm impact was hard on locals and businesses. Some handled better than others under the pressure. We stayed in three hotels during the storm. This one was the worst in compare from size, service, amenities, and their resolution of the “uncontrollables”. Stay at a Kimpton.

Staff was friendly and helpful, care and attention to detail was great. The room was clean with many amenities. It was a great sight to see after walking through downtown PDX. The city use to be so beautiful, but now it is a waste land of boarded up businesses, trash, and homeless littering the streets. If I have any advice to offer, stay in the hotel and check out prior to your check out time, as the bums wait outside to ask for money knowing these checkout times.

I would put this hotel at barely above an standard Marriott or Holiday in. The problem is service, I can't wait tell the Ritz goes in. Hopefully they will have some real training.

It's a beautiful hotel comes with breakfast and dessert and snacks but the thing that is not so good is that you have to ask for a mini fridge or a microwave because the rooms are not equipped with it but they will bring you it if you call and ask if you touch a pop in the fridge they will automatically charge your account so don't touch warning same goes with the snacks don't touch those the lobby and next to the elevators are tons of art sculptures witch is cool the bed was comfortable 700$ for one night I was livin the high life for one day

I'm sad to have to give The Nines 3 stars. I have stayed here before on a couple trips to Portland, so I'm familiar with the luxury services normally provided. I stayed here over the labor day weekend where the pros were: I felt very safe, welcomed by valet, the beds are still super comfortable and the bathroom space is absolutely perfect. There were several cons during this visit where the check-in process was impersonal, the front desk staff completely ignored us during check-in, there was nothing 5 star about it, most of the staff had a lackluster attitude and presence which didn't make it pleasant, the portable phone kept beeping every 30 seconds because the battery was out so we had to take out the battery no big deal, the bathroom cosmetics mirror was broken again no big deal but they weren't up to replacing it, window drape area and all lamps had way too much dust and what appeared to be a careless cleaning in the nook and crannies of the room, so I felt like they didn't complete a deep clean prior to reopening. The Nines may need a little refresh since its opening about 12 years ago. I would really like to see some kind of space for guests to relax and enjoy the summer weather while visiting Portland. There's no pool, no sun deck, no place to lounge and sunbathe. Departure provides breathtaking views and the drinks are very delicious and well made; however, once again got ignored and didn't get to place to-go order until after 20 minutes of waiting around. Overall, still one of the best hotels in Portland but they need to pay attention to the details and probably hire some personable, caring staff (exception being the valet staff who were absolutely wonderful).

I have stayed there several times. I won’t anymore. Why? Because it’s downtown Portland. I’m a native Oregonian, and since I have business visitors from overseas, we often went to downtown Portland to meet and stay for work. No more. I will not put my Asian friends at risk from attacked by home grown terrorists. Why aren’t these businesses demanding more action by the entirely democratically run government of Oregon and Portland?
