The Riverhouse Nestucca, Pacific City OR

This was an absolute home run.
He had the beef filet stroganoff, she had the crab mac & cheese. Both dishes were as good as you’ll find anywhere. The filet melted in my mouth, and the gravy had a hint of sweetness and lots of mushrooms. The fresh pappardelle were perfect.
The crab mac included shrimp, which were perfectly cooked, and plenty of crab.
Servings were large.
We had the crab hushpuppies as an appetizer, and they were excellent.
The wine list is not large, but more than adequate, with good selections available.
This was our second time there. We will be back.

In town for 1 night & we were hoping to have dinner here. I kept calling when they opened to make a reservation as the website suggested but no one answered. We showed up only to find out they were not open. Dinner plans ruined: (

Great service on a busy night at a small venue. Excellent food for a relatively unknown coastal town. Well done.

Sooooo good. Excellent and fresh fish, best steak in Tillamook County, and I would eat the calamari sauce as a soup. Best food in P-City.

This place was absolutely incredible. So worth every single penny. The people here are also warm, and extremely kind.

I am giving this restaurant five star even though my salmon was served very undercooked. It was our first time eating here, and we didn’t know what to expect. The restaurant was packed, and had a crazy day. They were out of most ingredients, so we got things we wouldn’t normally try. The food was excellent. It was lovingly cooked, and the ingredients were top of the line. We will be back.

Was unimpressed. Service was poor and so was sub par food for the price. The cocktail we had was similar to a dive bar drink but for the price of what should have been more upscale. Too bad because the location overlooking the river was nice.

For the prices I was seeing I was expecting all kinds of flavor. I got dull crab hushpuppies that were nothing without its sauce. The rockfish tacos were dull as well. The tortilla and texture of fish was all there was. It was more of a build your own taco because the sides are where all the flavor was.

While visiting the area, we got lots of recommendations for this restaurant. To say I am extremely disappointed is an understatement. The food was okay, nothing special and fairly overpriced, but not bad food. The customer service was atrocious. From the minute we sat down our server had an obvious bad attitude that ruined our entire experience. Our group was polite and quiet but it felt like we were treated poorly because we were a group of people in our 20’s (too young to be worth their time). When we asked to split the check we were told it could only be split two ways. When we went to tip, they failed to mention the automatic 20% gratuity that they already added to our table’s bill (it was in small print on the menu which did not stay at our table). I have never been to a restaurant that added such a high automatic gratuity with such awful service. Our drinks were never refilled, 2 of our orders didn’t come with bread like they were supposed to. And overall the attitude of the server was over the top rude. We will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Steve, the owner, handled our complaint seriously and did what he could to make the situation better. While we still wouldn’t recommend the wait service at this restaurant, I applaud management for listening to our concerns and taking action.

The food was great, but the service and attempt to make-it-right was sad. We walked in with a booked reservation and should have known at that point that it was going to be poor service when the hostess talked under her breath about another party with a reservation just 1hr later for the same table, assuring herself that "we'd probably be done within the hour" (note that they normally book reservations for 1.5hrs between guests.). We enjoyed the delicious main courses until the hostess promptly shows up to take the empty plates away and then let us know that the next party had arrived and had been "waiting for quite some time. " We had been at our reserved table for 1 hour and 5 minutes, still well within their reservation window. When our server dropped by to see if we wanted to order dessert, we declined because clearly we were being moved along. There was then the offer of moving us to another table to finish out the meal. Upon the staff learning of the situation, we were ultimately given a lackluster apology and the employee discount - better than nothing, I guess? Under these circumstances, I'd rather directly email their management staff to explain the situation instead of blasting it through a poor review. Alas, there's no email address on the website and it appears the staff that evening thought an employee discount was "making it right. "

Our server Charlie was friendly and excellent. Our reservations ran a bit late (8: 30, sat around 9) both nights we went, but Charlie gave friendly, welcoming service despite the lateness. The food was excellent as well, so we went back the next night. Definitely an enjoyable experience.

What an unexpected surprise this place was. Little unassuming place, rather out of the way, but the food was amazing and our waitress, Charlie, was great. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was fresh and fantastic. Loved it, will definitely go back!

One of the best gems in the Pacific Northwest. Recently we have gone back to dining out after a long break due to COVID. This meal was ten times better than the other fine dining we have had in Portland and a third the cost. I don't have pictures of our starters because we were so hungry after a long day and they we absolutely fantastic. We had the Safron Walla Walla Soup and the Fresh Burrata and Grilled Bread. The soup was so good that my wife ordered another cup. We ordered the Rockfish Fish and Chips, the Crab Mac and Cheese with Shrimp, and the Ravioli. The Rockfish crust was crisp and good. The handcut fries were amazing. My daughter said the the mac and cheese was one of her favorite meals of all time. The crab was sweet and the shrimp were huge. The pasta was tender with some chew. Same with the Ravioli. We were all so impressed with all the food that I had to try the clam chowder which was just as good as everything else. After dinner we were so full from trying everything else that we didn’t eat desert. The only thing I could say was that it would have been nice to see something with chocolate on the desert menu. We were so thoroughly impressed that if we are ever in Pacific City, Lincoln City or Tillamook area we are going here again!

Visited in July 2023. We were seated at our reservation time but were not acknowledged or provided waters for 14 minutes. An apology was provided by the hostess, who stated she forgot to write us down so the server did not "know we were here. " How can that be the case when this restaurant is only one room and the server has walked by multiple times?

I ordered the Coho. The texture of the entire meal - fish, mushrooms, gnocchi - was rubbery and off-putting. It did not taste freshly prepared. My husband ordered a burger, and there was hair in his fries. He requested ketchup, which never came. The hush puppies were overcooked and devoid of tastable crab.

I understand that they were understaffed, but it would be better to turn away our business than to accept it without being prepared to offer a good experience. Otherwise, prices here should be in accordance with the quality of the food provided. We were celebrating our last day of vacation by eating out, but I wish I had made a choice to go elsewhere.
