This place is AMAZING! I went with a carnivore who after expressing doubts, raved about the food. Want protein? You can choose from tofu, tempeh or soy curls. Don't want soy? There's Jackfruit. Lots of greens, beans and colorful dishes!

Food is decent and unique. But they have a policy of charging a 22% tip for a party of 4+. We were 4 plus a toddler Have never visited a restaurant charging for 4+. Would have loved to revisit for the food but wont because of this policy

Does not taste like Indian food. They do not use Indian spices. None of the chefs must have past experience making Indian dishes. It was one of the worst food I had.

Last night was a busy Saturday and two large groups had just left, leaving a mess in their wake. The two women working were visibly stressed and it was chaotic. That said, when we got the food things were much better. I had the chickpea cutlet dish with ginger molasses veggies, Basmati rice, kale and tahini salad. Very tasty. Others in our party enjoyed their dishes too.

I'm not sure if the new location has something to do with this. But some of our friends who visited Sudra recently warned us that it's not the same experience anymore. This was our first visit and might be our last. We ordered broccoli and cauliflower pakodas, vegetable fried rice, lentil kofta bowl and chickpea cutlet bowl. The only thing we really liked was the vegetable fried rice. It was not your regular fried rice. It had a nice tamarind flavor to it which made it very interesting. The broccoli pakodas could have been great if they didn't cause such a salt explosion in the mouth. The two bowls were lackluster. That's a wrap for Sudra!

I used to love this restaurant.it moved. Worst greasy re-fried food. Totally over salted. Greasy floors. Bathroom smelled awful. As so often happens.this place seems not to have been able to hold its identity and quality when moving. Too bad. The old place was so superb

Paneer curry was simply amazing, as was the tamarind tempeh salad. The flavors at this place are top tier.

I've found a lot of other vegan only places rely on gimmicky imitation products, but the few overtly "vegan-ized" things (e.g. Tofu paneer, coconut yogurt) are very well executed.

I think this would be a great place to take your omnivore friends

It was so wonderful to finally make it into The Sudra for dinner. Everything is perfectly seasoned and delicious. The staff is friendly, and the space is adorable. All the food was so delicious, that I absolutely could not choose a favorite. We ordered the chicken -less tikka masala bowl, the chickpea cutlet plate, and the potato samosa plate. Super, super yummy! All vegan, all scrumptious.

Def one timer to experience how expensive yellow lentils could be. Serve chapati without clarified butter which makes it harder to chew. They def have unique combination but just one timer.

Giving it 4 stars because they are the only restaurant which serve food until late in that neighborhood. Love the setup as well.

UPDATE: I came back after 10 months.the portions are even smaller now, food was not bad, service was great but I'm starving after my $14 lunch. Great service and typically 5 star food.they unfortunately changed their Chutney's which took my favorite Kale Dosa plate from a consistent 5 star meal down to a 2 star meal. Considering prices have gone up over 20% in the last 2 years I may finally be moving on.

One of the best vegetarian restaurants in portland. I'm not vegetarian myself but still loved the food. It tasted really clean & healthy. Not a lot of fat or oils. They also served alcohol which was a nice bonus.

It definitely has a unique crowd. That is good and bad. It seems to be a gay anarchist hangout. The good is it is different. The bad is that there wasn't a more diverse crowd. The food is pretty good. It is healthy but they try hard to be different and the ingredients didn't always seem compatable

The food was out of this park! The DIY nature of the service is confusing if you've never been. It's definitely not a place for tourists I would say. What a gem to dine outside with delicious vegan options. Can't say enough good things about the food.

As an omnivore, I often avoid vegan spots, but holy cow this place is amazing. From the dosa to the delicious things they do with lentils, this is an awesome spot regardless of your dietary choices. Great drinks as well. I’ve never had a bad or disappointing meal here, and I love what they do with soy curls.

The Sudra is on my list of must go to places. Everything I’ve gotten on the menu is great. Also they serve mocktails, basically virgin cocktails.

No complaints here. What's not to love? Great food, friendly staff and a great location. I went one day for lunch and the very next day went there again and brought a friend. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Summertime favorite, outdoor super casual, like joining a picnic with friends, always a good pint on tap and tasty nutritious vegan bowls and dishes with just the right India influence. Friendly and unpretentious.

Omg! I'm not even vegetarian but I swear I could be after I tried their jackfruit vindaloo. I am definitely hooked!

Mediocre faux hipster food. Clueless staff tossed my wooden utensil set in their stinky waste bin when I went to use the rest room. No manager present and no owner contact info good luck if you run into any issues.
