There really isn't another place in the city like The Vern. The atmosphere is very unique in its rustic charm, catering to an audience of people wanting something more than just a dive bar.

The drink selections are fun and always delicious, the food is never low quality even on their busiest nights, the music selection alone is a huge reason to come here, and while their game selections are somewhat small it doesnt detract from the experience.

While the bar does have a very small limitation on things such as not having certain flavored liqueurs, the team is more than able to accommodate your desires by coming up with something off menu on the fly and when they do it, they do it right.

The Vern has come to feel like something out of Cheers; the people here remember you if you make an impression, and if you do, you're lucky to have a place that wants to treat you right.

If you've never been, come during happy hour from 2pm-6pm for good food and good drinks. You won't regret it.

Bartender with glasses that I can only describe as a hot nerd, is a PRO. Just when I thought this town became devoid of REAL bartenders about 7 years ago, I came across this gem. TIP THIS UNICORN

We stopped by the electric lettuce dispensary on Broadway to pick up some edibles. We asked the bud tender there if they knew any cool bars nearby that we could check out. We were looking to have a few drinks since it was our friends last night in town. They recommended the Vern with high praise. So we figured we would go check it out since it was in a different part of town than we were used to. I'm so happy they recommended this place, because it was so cool. A very authentic experience with great drinks and excellent service. We will definitely be back.

So happy we live so close to this place! My fiancé and I come here at least every couple weeks and will absolutely continue to do so! Great food and drinks at good prices. Highly recommend the slushies, cheese curds, and steak dinner.

Ther Vern has a wonderful atmosphere with great people ready to fulfill your need on a night out on the town. Great (and strong) drinks and great food to make your good night a fantastic one.

I didn't know Buffalo Wings could taste like holiday ham. But this place pulled it off! Was not a fan of the Wings.

Great joint with lots of kitschy style. Good drinks and they don't gouge you when it comes time to pay.

The Vern has been around for a while now, and even though it's a bit different it's still just as awesome. All kinds of fun art, great atmosphere for a wide range of people and personalities, and it's clean. The food is typical bar food, but it's great! Hot, quick, delicious, and made how you want it. The bartenders and servers were all fantastic, and very personable while still having that great bartender feel. Prices reasonable. All kinds of drink options, beers and ciders on tap, fun fancy drinks, and lots of spirit options. GREAT outdoor patio area, covered with tables and heating options. Fantastic location. I was there with a large group (about 20 total) and they handled it wonderfully. All in all, 10 outta 10. Highly recommend. You wont regret it.

Expensive beer. Long lines. Idiot customers.
They have "security" now, aka over-glorified doormen who patrol the whole bar itself. NPCs in Skyrim said it best - Never should have come here!

Old school portland with a new school feel. Love what they did with the patio. Super comfy and casual spot.

Nice atmosphere can be a bit dark inside, has a patio area as well. Food is really good if you are looking for a late night meal. All of the bar tenders are super nice and make great drinks!

Big tavern with video games, patio, and lots of group and bar seating. Large menu for food and drinks.

A magical, welcoming bar with fire pits and games and every good thing. Strong pour, friendly staff. Out back is where it's at.
