Great place to stay! Right across from the ocean and close to Newport. All the employees there are fantastic and friendly!

Such a great place for a family reunion! The cabins are very clean and the staff is great! A special shout out to Dayna, who went above and beyond to make our reunion the best! Thanks Dayna!

Purchased the membership to use as we travel across the USA. Have only so far stayed in a few and will review as I go. This one, was ok. We didn't arrive until 1 am so couldnt check in. So we took the first site we came to since we didn't have gate codes yet and my truck is kind of loud and didnt want to wake anyone. It was an rv site close to the main office and clubhouse. The next morning we went to check in. The lady who runs it doesn't seem to really want to deal with ppl. She seems to be in a constant state of running around like a chicken with her head cut off. During our check in, she got a phone call and before answering she said "oh its never good when blah blah calls" (i call him blah blah because i dont remember the name). Then she nervously repeated the same thing to blah blah when she answered his call. "oh this can't be good if I get a call from blah blah". My next dealing with her was the next morning. So after her call she showed us where we had to move to. I asked her why we couldnt stay in the one we were in and she said that we booked a tent site and all rv sites are full. Well thats weird cuz every other TT we have been to they have been interchangeable. But not here. Ok so be it (tho 2 days later and that same site is still empty) We found a tent spot. Stopped in to ask a question at 1130 am, door was locked so I knocked, she opened it with a walkie talkie up to her face, talking back and forth with someone. I said I have a question and before giving me a chance to ask it, she says, the park ranger will be here in a minute, they can answer ur question. Now mind you we have been here 2 days by this point and not one single time was there ever anyone in the ranger booth to take our questions or concerns. The bathroom by the tent sites are clean and updated tho they have a regular door knob (and no paper towels to grab it) to get in and out of the bathroom.it's just very unsanitary. Showers had decent pressure and were hot and the shower stalls are private. Depending on where you stay in the campground, will determine how far you're going to have to hike to use the bathroom since there are only 3 with one of those in the clubhouse that has regulated hours of operation. The tent sites are uneven, full of roots and are on the smaller side. But you do have some privacy with the bushes in between most of them. You don't feel like you're camping on top of your neighbor but close enuf to hear their conversations. The beach is super close but you have to cross a highway to get there. With cars going at least 55mph, its a little like playing frogger and Russian roulette at the same time. Not sure why they haven't installed a skybridge or even a tunnel like other campgrounds on the coast. They have several activities around to do but there is no storeon-site. There used to be but was told they are understaffed and thousand trails doesnt want to pay for more staff so they closed it and turned it into storage. That's super disappointing cuz running to town for something simple like a candy bar isn't worth it. And what camper doesn't forget to pack something? I forgot a pancake flipper This is the second one we have come across that didn't have their store open. They are very pro-recycling here which was nice to see and their garbage is a giant trash compactor so no smells or full garbage cans to deal with. The roads are spacious for rvs to navigate tho you will have a wait if you get stuck behind one trying to back into their spot. It's far cooler here than inland so it was a nice break from the 100° weather. Overall it was good but you can hear loud vehicles from the highway but for the most part you only hear the ocean but not worth more than 3 stars right now.

Great place to stay in between Newport and Waldport. It has mini golf, tennis & a pool. Great to get a couple cabins for large get togethers

This gem offers so many activities that it is sure to be a hit for the whole family. From an indoor swimming pool and spa, to pickle ball equipment. Croquet, to giant checkers. WiFi in each of the cabins and friendly staff, there are many reasons to make this location a wonderful place to visit!

Staff is very helpful and will even help you find a campsite your rig will fit in. Friendly and informative.

Friendly, helpful staff, (Kathe!) well-maintained, clean bathrooms and it is across the street from the beach! Only downside Verizon cell and WiFi were not great, unfortunately. Hopefully, they will improve this some time soon in the future.

The campground was not as nice as I was hoping. And I feel like it was really expensive for what you get. After fees we payed over $80/night for an RV spot. For $5 more a night, we stayed at Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort which is a luxury resort and leaps and bounds nicer than this place. The pool at whalers rest was filthy, full of debris and dirt. My son contracted Hand, Foot, and mouth disease after swimming in the pool. I’m sure it was from the pool as we didn’t go anywhere else and it was 3 days after swimming in their pool. The staff were all really nice, but the campground is lacking, and quite dirty. The spots are mostly unlevel and difficult to get in and out of, and quite small for that matter. I will not be staying at whalers rest ever again, and will not be recommending it to anyone.

We booked thru the Rally Group at Thousand Trails. SECOND time we have been there. The staff is terrific! The cabins are clean as is the pool/hot tub area. There is a beach across the street where we had a bonfire for our group of 60+ people. HIGHLY recommend them. Thank you Kelsey and DAYNA.

I rented a studio cabin for myself and daughter for 3 nights. After our first night I can say with confidence this will be the place I recommend to anyone coming to the Newport area. Staff is Extremely nice and helpful. Our cabin is so clean and comfortable.
Way better then a hotel any day. There is mini golf. Pool, hot tub laundry and more.
RV spots, tent and cabins.

So happy I heard about this place

A nicely kept campground. The spots are right on top of each other which is not good. Other people's pipes and lives will spill into your site. No privacy. Like they just tried to pack as many people in as possible.

Edited > what a difference 3 years makes! In 2019 I said "One of the top 3 Thousand Trails campgrounds on the West coast! " Now, it's all junky trailers and sketchy looking people. I won't be staying there anymore!

We pay many dollars to be 1000 Trails members. I had drove over 5 hours to get here, I have both of my grandchildren in the backseat and I have been up since 3: 30, pooped! Pull in, absolutely NO cell service, I have to prove I have insurance on my car in order to get let in? I get why they ask, but I am a member, all of that is on file? Very disappointed in this.
