Tulip Shop Tavern reviews
17 An exceptional joint, lovely staff, and hands down the best double cheeseburger I've ever had in my life traveling across the world.
Bravo Tulip, way to support the neighborhood! Best food (cheeseburger!) I've had in Portland!
Can't wait to come back an try the chicken!
Best burgers, worst service. I absolutely LOVE their burgers. I go too often. But the service is lacking, especially if you sit out on the patio. I also do appreciate they’re dog friendly.
Their food was OK. The hot wings are well-brined but tossed in mediocre sauce I can pick up at the grocery store. Their hoagie was pretty good, their fries and onion rings are acceptable but nothing to write home about.
What bothers me about Tulip is the dark atmosphere and loud music combined with the lackluster service. We saw our server when we were seated, and then again to take our drinks order, and once more when our drinks were brought to us when we were asked for our food order. After that, it was easily half an hour after we had finished our drinks that our server came back to check on us and refill them. Instead, I saw her "busy" on her cell phone, "busy" chatting it up with a specific patron at the bar, "busy" walking around carrying nothing, and occasionally clearing tables or checking in on other tables when it wasn't an inconvenience to her. While I appreciate a server that doesn't interrupt my meal or conversation every few minutes, letting my drink go empty for more then half an hour is the other end of the extreme and even worse than an annoyingly attentive one. The dark atmosphere seems to encourage that behaviour or maybe discourage noticing it?
Either way, I'm not sure I'll come back here. Not sure what I'll get if I do.
Cute neighbourhood bar with cheap bar eats and, strangely, table service. Come here often for food to go and a single drink for the wait. Just one thing: please stop asking me if I want food every 2 minutes, two times is enough.
Another one of Portland's taverns punching way above it's weight class for food. Had the fish burger, was excellent
I wanted to like this place but when I got the bill and saw $10 for a single beer thumbs down too much
Bartender white dude with a big mustache wearing a cap was very rude to me and my friend.as soon as we walked up to the bar he condescended us and told us off when all we did was ask a question about their menu.
It's a pretty chill bar that has some tasty burgers. I met a friend here for lunch and was surprised to see it be busy during the daytime. Our server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. She checked up on us a couple of times throughout our meal (this doesn't usually happen at a bar). We each got the Fair Burger and had a side of fries with queso and onion rings. Everything we had was good. The burger is a smash burger style, which I enjoy. The queso was perfect with the fries. Overall, it was a great place to visit. Next time, I'll have a beverage.
Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Loved the vibe and the burgers were some of the best in PDX. Plus the patio was an awesome (dog friendly) spot to chill. Definitely will be back.
I had my eye on tulip shop before i even moved to portland and they do NOT disappoint.i’ve been several times and tried a bunch of things (i live very close by now) and let me just say, their fried green tomato burger special was literally the best burger i’ve ever had.this place really is a gem.
Food is fabulous! We were on our way to another restaurant when we drove by and decided to change plans. We had been wanting to try their burgers for years and no regrets! This will be our go to spot next time we're in the area.
The Double Double with Bacon is phenomenal. Cooked to perfection with the double patty, cheese and bacon slightly charred on the outside edges. It’s kinda smokey and oh that special sauce. This Smash Style Burger can go toe to toe with anybody in this town. Tulip Shop have been serving high quality bar fare for 4 plus years and I can see why people rave about them. I hear the Fried Chicken and Fish Sandos are fantastic as well. Definitely going to return and soon. Wait! Did I miss gettin in on corn dog Wednesday? Damn! Next time…
The server was very inattentive. We wanted to order dinner but they never came back to take our order. We joked we could have dined and dashed without them evening caring. Won’t have tipped if we had exact cash.
Amazing burger. One of the best in the city. Staff is super cool. This is a must eat location.
Found this place through Reddit and the burgers were very tasty. I had the pork burger and my wife had the smash burger. We did order some of the fries and they were the saltiest fries I've ever eaten, pretty much inedible and left me with a slight stomach ache with eating maybe 1/4 of an order and wiping them off with napkins. We might have just got a salty batch but the ocean would taste mild compared to these.
All on all, inspite of the fries I would say the burgers are great, the beer was good and maybe avoid the fries. I would still come back, especially as the prices are reasonable. One more note, the entire place is low light (black lights and red). Reminds me of a college bar.
Used to be great; now not so much. Obnoxiously rude, inattentive and unprofessional servers, and no more Cloudburst togos. Wahhh.
Solid little bar! They have really tasty slushy drinks which are great during those hot summer days. There’s also a nice outdoor patio area. My only issue with this place is the sound quality of their music. The speakers sound terrible, to the point of hurting our ears and ruining the experience. It’s definitely time for an upgrade in the audio department to say the least. Besides that everything was good.
