Uptown Beer Co., Portland OR

We’ve made Uptown a regular stop. Friendly environment, dogs are welcome and there’s a great selection on tap and in the coolers. Plenty to choose from, and having Midcity Smashburger on property doesn’t hurt. Fun stop.

Good drinks, good atmosphere, parking can be hit or miss during happy hour, but a block away is plenty of street parking. The patio seating is great and dog friendly. Burger truck serves smash burgers.

I went here regularly for a while and my only complaint was that their beer was not very good.

Things started changing. Employee turnover rocketed, and it seemed there was a new person every two to four weeks. The majority of new employees were terrible or with a complete lack of interest in their job.

On New Year’s Day they charged me $100 for their mug club, which I was not a part of. I went in to ask for my money back, and an owner told me he didn’t know who I was, so no. Luckily there was an employee present, a good one, and he took care of it. It turned out that they wrote down people’s credit card information on a sheet of paper, and that’s why they were able to “charge” me. I used quotes since that course of actions is clearly organized theft.

Another time an employee came out to grab pint glasses. They weren’t empty, so he tossed beer toward the parking lot without looking, and it went all over a patron. The patron was flabbergasted. The employee provided a minimal apology, if it even was an apology.

If they have improved, great, but after credit card theft and tossing beer on patrons, amongst a few other things, I’m done.edit: “Why don't you come and check out Uptown now and see if it is more aligned with what you expect in a fun taphouse. ”

If a place is in a state of such disgusting disorder I see no reason to return, or possibly to ever go anywhere nearby.

Fantastic selection on tap and even better hard to find/obscure choices in the cooler. Dogs welcome and outdoor seating too!

Their digital sign says one price for their beer $6 but when you pay your tab. It's actually $7 yes it's that kind of place.

Great place, lots of local Portland beers on tap and in the fridge to bring home.
Great service and knowledge on the products.

Stopped in for a Thursday brewery tasting, but no tasting was actually happening, just two brewers hanging out, sadly. Cool space and good tap list

Great place to hang out with huge selection of canned beer as well as a good tap list.
The burger food cart next to it has some great smash burgers too!
