Distillery Westward Whiskey reviews
17We did the distillery tour and tasting. Our guide Claire was top notch, she was knowledgeable and fun. We had a great time and fell deeper in love with the whiskey.
Awesome tour and even better single malt whiskey. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a small shop with some interesting whiskey gear. Along with a full bar including their different flavors of whiskey.
I would recommend driving or taking a Uber here. The area is not very walkable due to homeless encampments and sketchy people. They have a gated parking lot.
Personally I would buy a bottle and take it elsewhere. The whiskey is fantastic but the tasting room vibe is just not quite there - industrial and cold rather than warm and welcoming. As other reviews have mentioned, I also thought some of the staff could be more helpful/friendly.
What a wonderful and special space. Tour and tasting is a must. We learned so much from OLIVIA. She’s a true star! She is very knowledgeable and so welcoming. I don’t think the distillery experience would have been so without her! Thank you Olivia and Greetings from Austin.
The staff is very unfriendly, we arrived and no one spoke to us even when there were 5 staff at the bar, only when we went to a table to see the menu did they ask us what we wanted. We ordered a flight of whiskey for $25 accompanied by chocolates for $14 more and a flight of 4 cocktails for $25. The whiskey is ok but the cocktails all tasted the same.
Ethan at PDX was a great server. Very knowledgeable and personable. Great experience overall.
The tour was great, very informative and fun. Best one in my opinion.
The tasting was fantastic, we were given so much detail with each taste.
Loved how much I learned and how much it has made me appreciate whiskey even more.
This place is amazing. Their whiskey is top notch and they have a great tour. If you like whiskey this place is a must!
Was a very cool distillery! Friendly staff. When our group got the flight of whiskey, a staff member explained each one thoroughly with the whiskey making process. Very cool experience.
We loved our tour. It's was informative and my bf said it was way better than the Jameson factory tour he did in Ireland.
The team is knowledgeable and can answer any question. I highly recommend doing this tour if you're in Portland.
Thanks to Claire, who was amazingly informative and incredibly friendly, we had an amazing experience today!
Her overall knowledge of whiskey, what makes the whiskey in the Portland, OR area unique, and her amazing presentation regarding the tasting notes of each whiskey in out tasting was simply perfection!
We went on the distillery tour, followed by a tasting. Our guide was knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions that ranged from barrel details to length of aging, and more. The tasting flight was varied, and we were able to taste a few additional whiskeys that they had open. We chose to also have the chocolate pairing, which was delicious! (Highly recommend!) It was an excellent experience overall.
The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the whiskey. Loved being able to take the tour and try the start of it with it basically being beer. First time I've ever had that. The tastings were great as well! Some fantastic whiskey. The cocktails you see are mini so understand that going in. If they have some marshmallows, highly recommend finding a way to try!
Awesome place! We did the Whiskey tasting and it was amazing. So many good ones. Every one I tasted was top notch.
Good tasting room experience. They will offer tastes of off-menu stuff as well, for no extra charge, if you ask. They also offer a cocktail flight for the non-whiskey geeks in the crowd. Staff are knowledgable and the tasting room has a great vibe. The location isn't the most convenient, but not so bad as to detract you from going. I just wish I liked their whiskey better - there are better American single malts out there. But if you have never had an American single malt, it's definitely worth trying Westward.
Whiskey -
Ethan is an incredible host and tasting guide. He is very informative and helpful, and introduced us to many delicious whiskeys. We, of course, had to take a few bottles home - but it was a no pressure environment and wonderful experience. We are already looking forward to our first club bottle in a few weeks!
