Zenbu Lounge reviews
18Zenbu is a pure hovel of presence to shared joys and comforts… from its cozy, zen ambiance that cradles you gently into the evening, to the delicious, homey, and culinary dishes they serve… and the sake and Japanese whiskeys that warm you from the inside round this place out to somewhere you want to revel in the now.
Stumbled upon this place and wow, what a great experience. Not a huge menu but totally makes up for it with the quality, atmosphere, service and great staff. Music playlist was killer cool and not too loud. My partner and I are casual diners and don’t go out much but this might be a new go-to for us. I definitely recommend checking this place out.
Love the staff. So genuine and attentive. The service here is top shelf. Food: perfection.
To this day, one of my favorite restaurants in this glorious city! Four years later.
Fantastic Japanese themed lounge with great food, atmosphere, and service. I'm fortunate to have a friend who knows this part of town well, otherwise I may never have found this on my own. This is definitely a place I want to return to. Be sure to catch their happy hour specials, one drink purchase required.
Beautiful atmosphere. Wonderful food. Great drinks. Only negative is that they're only open Tuesday through Sunday.
AMAZING Sushi! Since before, during and after the covid lockdowns, me and my family have been supporting them with our business from dine in to take out whenever we have extra cash! It’s a great place to eat! Sushi is expensive, but to no fault of Zenbu— that’s just how much good sushi costs. The prices are the same as any other real sushi restaurant. If you want cheap sushi, conveyor belt is fine! But this stuff at Zenbu is top quality!
Zenbu Lounge is a sushi and bar that rocks a quintessentially Portland vibes. And their Halloween decor is absolutely on point.
Get the ginger chicken musubi and Brussel sprouts - you won’t regret it.
Good japanese style foods. I love the old japanese ads they papered the bathrooms with. Some of the hawaiian inspired dishes weren't what I expected but still quite tasty. Good drinks selection. Kid friendly.
My favorite sushi restaurant in Portland! High quality sushi, amazing specials, great ambiance and yummy drinks. They have such a great outdoor area, and welcoming for kids too.
The first time I went to Zenbu I was REALLY into it. But I realize that place is a little inconsistent. I have been three times in total so not that much data. BUT I would recommend their green beans and tofu dish, Sellwood roll, and wontons. The first couple times I had their salmon nigiri, I was INTO IT. The fish was the perfect temperature. The last time I went, the rice was a little hard. Overall, this place is good and I will continue to go. Just a little inconsistent with how the food tastes. Definitely get there early because they do sell out of stuff.
The wontons were delicious and the avocado roll was impressively large! I was a little let down by the cocktail menu, no gin cocktail on the entire menu.
Love the food and the ambiance here, but it can be very difficult to get ahold of them for takeout. Phone rings once and then hangs up. Frustrating.
This review comes with mixed feelings and i'm sorry to the owner. But we came (me and my partner) in hopes for good sushi and drinks close to home. (we live in happy valley)
I will say that the food was amazing! Drinks were good. But maybe we made the mistake of sitting at the bar.
We are a queer couple surrounded by straight caucasian couples. The level of attention they got, we did not get.
I am very passive, compared to my partner and this time, i sadly notice.
They asked all the questions to the couples around us, and I had to ask for multiple things. Not once was I asked if my food was good (like the rest), if we needed anything else. We were brought our check after 2 drinks, and she didn't do this to anybody else.
I started this review with 4 stars, because I refused to see everybody this way. But I believe the front staff is a representation of the back.
I'll continue to wait over an hour for a downtown portland location.
Fabulous ambiance but casual, local dining and bar. The food is delicious and has a unique flare and lots of flavor. We did wait a bit and we got there pretty early, but it was raining and we were not dressed for the outdoor patio. The staff was great about keeping us informed of the status and we did not wait unusually long. It also came in right on the timing they estimated. I was only sad they were out of the tuna, so we will try again to taste that dish.
Excellent. Kimchi is the only thing I found to slightly complain about (salty) and I eat a lot of kimchi. Garden area is cool. Love this local spot.
Never disappoints! The service, the atmosphere and the food! Food specials weekly, rotating taps and again great service!
Best sushi I've ever had! Portland, Seattle, Sanfran, Vagas, hands down. High quality seafood, unpretentious quiet atmosphere, unique menu, friendly staff. Been here 4-5 times, always great.
Wonderful service & delicious food! It was nice to see such a smooth running business - all of the employees were naturally helping the other and it wasn't a "your section, your business" type of place. They were always looking out for the customers so no one was stuck waiting for help.
The food was so amazing and plenty of gluten free options! Definitely will be coming back
