The best BYOB brunch that I have ever tasted. The restaurant is intimate and offers outdoor seating. Make reservations because they fill up quick.

I been going here for years and it's always great customer service great and I just love how it's set up.

Very disappointing meal. I did not finish, had to go elsewhere to get something else to eat. Ordered the chicken and waffles. Chicken was dry and rubbery. The waffles were like bagels. The syrup wasn't even sweet. Could be acceptable if the prices were half, but something did not align.

Been here 3 times now, and it's been flawless every time - great food, unusually polite servers, and pleasant open-air atmosphere. It's now my go-to for anyone visiting West Philly for the first time and wanting a nice "taste" of Baltimore Ave.

This was my first time there, took my son for Father's Day Brunch. Food was okay. Customer service was excellent. My son loved his lamb burger. I think portions could be better on the house potatoes & some onions & peppers could have been added. I was expecting home fries but got what looked like a deep fried cut up potatoe. The chicken I had with waffle could have been a whole piece of chicken like I saw on the website. Actually on the website it showed 3 pieces of chicken with waffles. I got I flat piece of chicken cut in half. So I was disappointed in my chicken and potatoes but everything else was delicious. I will be going back to try something else. I just feel what advertise on your website is what should be on the customer's plate.

The food was fine (though $25 for a lamb burger is excessive) and the server was nice, but over ninety minutes for our food? We weren't in a rush since we hadn't seen each other since the pandemic but that's unreasonable. There were only five tables there. Wanted to support West Philly restaurants but I'm not sure I will be going back to this one.

My wife and I have taken many friends and family here over the years. The food was always 4-5 stars, and service, etc was good enough. My biggest complaint was that it was a little drafty (unavoidable with those big glass windows).
Tonight, my wife went on their website to order take-out. The website said they had a $15 burger special.that's a pretty standard price for a burger, but whatever.
When my wife went to pick it up, they charged her full-price for the 2 burgers. $25. That's a pretty steep price for a burger, and almost 70% more expensive than what they were advertising. My wife didn't feel like dealing with it and, hey, small local business might not update their website that often, things change fast with COVID, etc, etc.
Charging $25 for an over-cooked, misshapen, barely-topped burger with frozen french fries? Are you kidding me?

Had the spiced shrimp and grits. I'm a southerner so this dish matters a ton to me. Though it isn't as spiced as I'd like, the portions are huge.we came in on a pretty slow day so the feel was quaint and chill.the space has strong natural lighting making it a nice spot for dates and people watching.

Amazing food, friendly staff! We had a great meal here and already want to go back because there were so many things on the menu we wanted to try

It’s not what it once was. I went monthly for brunch and stopped after bringing a friend and being embarrassed by my recommendation. The chicken and waffles used to be phenomenal. The Moroccan eggs used to be my go to. The shashuka, oh my goodness I miss it. I knew it was going downhill when I was greeted with a wrinkled paper menu. Now I know it’s officially dead since they removed the house made hot sauce. Someone’s lazy.

The food at Aksum is interesting and delicious. It is clean and neat and you can hear your companions. But what makes it really special is the service. Every single person made us feel so welcome and appreciated. The service was warm but quiet. Not showy, just helpful. We forgot that it was a BYOB but they offered to run out and get us a bottle of wine so we didn't have to interrupt our meal. That is really above and beyond. Well worth the slight deviation from the beaten path. Go!

The food was fantastic and I would absolutely go back! Although friendly, the staff did seem overwhelmed with the decent size wait and did not handle it well. I saw them ask a few tables who had been there a while to leave, which although I understand can be frustrating that they're sitting there while you have a wait, still comes across as unprofessional. We also had trouble getting anyones attention after we got our food. We had to get up and ask the bar just to get salt on our table after about 20 minutes. Again though, food is absolutely delicious.

Pretty bland brunch. The shrimp and grits were nothing special. The shrimp are cooked with onions and peppers but the signature potatos have the same onions and peppers? The chicken and waffles are just breaded chicken breasts with breading - no skin. Not worth the prices they charge.

Ok service. My husband and I gave this restaurant 4 three tries on three separate occasions and twice I got food poisoning and then most recently my husband. We are done.

My mate and I love this place.the food is delicious.the service is great and the atmosphere is intimate.

Friendly staff. Bright clean and comfortable dinning area. Delicious food. Hot and smooth coffee.

Service was good but it was pretty mediocre food. Ordered fava beans/foul but got mostly a garbanzo beans dish instead. Hummus tasted like nothing. Likely server sunflower oil instead of olive oil. Quite disappointing overall

Brunch was amazing here I had French toast with vegan scrapple, my husband had shrimp and grits. Also the mussels are good and the crab bisque is so good, spicy but good!

Food was good, but service was very slow. We chose this spot because we had an Open Table gift card to it, but when it came time to pay, their system doesn't accept that payment.

Always great food and staff! Recently acquired a new chef, but food is just as great as it was before.
