My boyfriend and I started renting a two bedroom apartment from Alan a few weeks ago. Agents are friendly enough and fairly quick to reply. However, the rent is quite high considering the poor and incomplete construction job in the apartment. We also had to do a lot of cleaning before we could move in. We’ve been taking showers from a bucket since I’ve been here since the cold water doesn’t work in the tub. Still waiting on the maintenance guy…. This place is definitely not worth the rent we’re paying plus electric and gas, but we have to put up with it since we really needed a place. We would not be renting from Alan if it hadn’t been urgent for us to move.

Alan and his team were very kind and patient with us while buying our first home. He is very good at advocating for his clients. I found that he was accessible and always took the time to talk us through things.

Alan and his team were extremely professional and efficient while my wife and I were looking for our first home. He got us deal most agents would say is impossible in todays market. Rented from Alan for 4 years across two different single bedroom apartments. My opinion is generally favorable. I felt the pricing and amenities were fair for both units. Alan was also amiable has a friendly staff. However, like all rental companies, preventative maintenance left a bit to be desired. All things considered, I recommend Alan H. Cherkin Real Estate and appreciated doing business with them.

Alan and his staff took was very helpful. They were able to get me and my family a nice place although are credit wasn't that great.

Alan was kind enough to work with a very close friend of mine who found herself in a tight spot and had gotten behind on her rent. His kindness and understanding in this matter sure did mean a lot to me, as well as my dear friend!

Allen Cherkin is a genuine all around a very great guy who will help anyone get into a home of there dreams or to even rent from! He has many places for rent an also buys houses and fixes them for resale.

Alan Cherkin has been very kind and helpful when we needed a place to rent asap. We have been renting a very nice home for two years in Maytown PA that Alan owns. He is now in the process of helping us locate our dream house to buy. I have very much confidence in him that he will find us the perfect house.

I met Allen n he's great I love he's loyal n he really try to help me but my Tenant will not cooperate w Allen but I do recomend him

Can you leave less than one star?

In my opinion Alan Cherkin is a greedy & self interested business man. He enriches himself by being cheap and offering borderline slum rentals to people and trapping them in leases while refusing to maintain the properties he owns. But if you've ever seen his corny fake rap commercials with a gold chain you probably guessed that already.

I'm not a previous renter, nor did I use him as a realtor. I owned a home next to one of his rental properties. Through his negligence to maintain the property adjacent to us he took money out of my families pocket by devaluing our home.

Not only was the property in horrible condition on the exterior there was a massive maple tree that hasn't been trimmed In a few decades. It's branches would blow and fall onto our fence, deck, gutters, windows causing hundreds of dollars in damage annually. The tree helped deteriorate our deck and destroy our victorian era yankee gutter system. After I took a 30k loan out to repair our exterior I contacted Allen to politely ask him to trim his tree and expressed my concern for further damage. I informed him the tree was the reason his exterior, oof & gutters were being destroyed. He was very polite until I gave him a $1500 quote from a tree company (after he drug his feet for 12 months of assuring me he'd take care of it but all the tree guys were busy). Then he offerd to only pay half. Less than 5 percent of the tree was encroaching my property but it was my responsibility to maintain his tree? I found this ironic that a wealthy local real estate mogul who lives lavishly was asking a working class family with 3 small children to fork half the bill for him. Stay away from this guy. He's a self-interested scumbag. You know the kind of guy that will prey on poor people and offer them predatory cash payments for their home and then slum lord it out for a few decades? There are so many good realtors and genuine property managers in Lancaster county with family values. Stay away from a guy who prioritizes his financial interests over morality.

Alan Cherkin and his team are wonderful to work with. It was a nightmare trying to rent with the current market, but their due diligence, compassion and timeliness was exceptional, and gave me peace during such a stressful time. I would confidently recommend them to everyone in need of help with buying, selling or renting a home.

Really happy to know there are still people with a heart. Alan helped my family more than he knows. We appreciate so much the opportunity and home he’s given us. Alan and his staff have been humble, responsive, respectful and kind.

Dogs peeing on property, loud shouting, holes in walls. He reminds me of the slumlords in New England who let the drug market take over. My friend sent him a text about buying a house and he wrote back cursewords.
