I used to go to regular barbers to get my hair cut but they didn't quite give me what I was looking for with long male hair. I started going to Alchemy dry cut lounge for Addison and have been going ever since. Personally, I had a style already in mind, but his knowledge of hair types and head shapes really helped me bring what I wanted to life and adjust my style to suit my hair type and preferences. He knew exactly what my hair needed and was capable of before even cutting it (something I have always struggled with until now), and is really really knowledgeable when it comes to cutting and styles. They are certainly more expensive than a barber (i usually end up paying 80-90), but the final result always blows me away. Can't recommend Addison enough!

$110 to TRIM an already pixie cut. Even the most expensive salons in Pgh don't charge that much. This is Pittsburgh, not New York. Get over yourselves.

Just moved into town and got a haircut here. Sara did a wonderful job- and I'm quite picky. Great atmosphere and people. Will come again next time I'm due.

First dry cut of my life. It was interesting and turned out well. My only reservation and not giving them a five-star rating is that it is rather costly.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Alchemy for a cut and color, and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. Jamie took the time to discuss my preferences and offered valuable suggestions to enhance the final result.

She skillfully trimmed away the dead ends while keeping the length I desired, achieving the perfect balance I was hoping for. The cut itself was precisely what I had envisioned, and the color was expertly applied. Throughout the process, Jamie demonstrated a keen attention to detail and a genuine passion for her craft. The final result was a rejuvenated and healthy look that made my hair feel lighter and more vibrant.

To top it off, being offered a glass of wine added a delightful touch to the overall experience, allowing me to relax and truly enjoy the appointment. The atmosphere was relaxing and sophisticated, making my visit even more enjoyable.

I am thrilled with the results and grateful for the exceptional service provided by Jamie. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend her services to anyone in search of a skilled and welcoming hair professional.

I will start by saying the staff genuinely is very kind and welcoming. And I do appreciate the owner’s attempt to mitigate the situation. I received a 50% refund.

However, the cut my 5yr old received from Jamie was EXTREMELY disappointing. For reference, my daughter is biracial, with curly soft textured hair. We initially discussed only trimming the ends, but she ended up taking off a substantial amount. There was no additional communication regarding any need to take off more. I was overwhelmed and could tell my little one was starting to get upset as well. Next came the bangs. I truly have no idea why she decided to cut them in the manner she did - it’s absolutely beyond me. Again we discussed length and again, she did the complete opposite. Her bangs are so short, they almost stand straight up. They don’t even lay in a straight line across her forehead; she some how cut them in a curve? Why?

As soon as my daughter walked outside, she started crying and I couldn’t even blame her. It was BAD.

Maybe the hairstylist had an off day? Maybe she is uneducated on curly or biracial hair? No clue. But 10/10 would not recommend.

I just moved to Pittsburgh and was eager to find a quality hair salon and i am so glad that I stumbled upon Alchemy. Heather (dry cut) and Chris (color) both took the time to listen to what I wanted and to understand any issues I was having with my hair. I have never had a dry cut before and I will l never go back. Heather have me a great cut that works with my thinning curly hair and that I can just wash and go. I decided to go a little darker with my hair color and I am n tickled with what Chris put together for me.

Everyone at the salon was super friendly and I look forward to returning regularly.

I went a couple times to pick up my wife and they are very welcoming. Have a large staff. A wonderful atmosphere. And they are great with curly hair. Only thing which I think most husbands will say is it is expensive haha

Friendly & professional staff, nice vibe and environment. Stylists here all seem to know what they’re doing. Addison has been doing a great job with my hair.

I have had 3 really wonderful haircuts at Alchemy. Unfortunately, I was in the emergency room this past Tuesday and was unable to get to my appointment. The owner charged me the full price for my haircut, not just the 50% fee that they claim they will charge on their website for a late cancellation. Despite me sending proof of being in a medical emergency, AND proof that I called to cancel, they recorded it as a no-call; no-show and charged me the full fee. This full fee was more expensive than my ER copay. The owner claims that I cancelled several appointments, and I have rescheduled appointments (through their app), but weeks in advance. She is hiding behind this as a reason to charge my card, unauthorized, for services that I did not receive. After several emails back and forth, the best the owner is willing to offer me is to credit 50% of the fee toward a future appointment. But after this unprofessional treatment, I would rather never deal with them again. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Edited after the owner's reply: I have yet to receive the 50% refund that she mentioned, and since I did call to cancel, their website states it would be a 50% fee. I am not sure why she keeps insisting that she should keep all of my money for zero services rendered.

About cancelled appointments:

April 1 - needed to change the time, for my appointment on 4/1 but you weren't available at other times, so changed the appointment to April 15th and then changed it back to April 1st with a different stylist. All of this happened within 5 minutes through your app, weeks in advance. The end effect was I just changed my appointment time on April 1.

May 20 - I neither had, nor cancelled an appointment. I had an appointment May 27th which was attended and not cancelled.

August 5 I had a work conflict and let you know a week in advance and changed it to August 18.

Jan 19 - tested positive for covid, 24 hours notice given (called within minutes of getting my covid test, the afternoon on the day before my appointment).

Feb 7 - medical emergency

I booked Jamie for a haircut, which was my first time at Alchemy. I had a specific vision in mind and Jamie executed it wonderfully. She worked quickly but efficiently and I couldn’t be happier with the cut. Beautiful space and great workers, I’ll be sure to come back!
