ALDI, Whitehall PA

A rude employee told me I could pay with card at a self check out machine and was pushy about me using a self check out machine. I specifically asked for an open lane with a person and she grudgingly called someone else to a different register than the one she had been at when I walked up to check out.

Look, lady, those machines give me anxiety on a GOOD day. I’m not having a good day. Your being rude didn’t help at all. Thanks.

Prices are good, I like the layout of store. Just don't like the lines to check out but what you going to do it's cheap lol

Don't go here if you have a real service dog cause they will not let you in due to all the fakes around here, the current manager is saying you need paperwork to bring your service dog which is incorrect by ADA laws.

Great prices, nice produce! You won't find all the brands and product selection that you would at a big box grocery store but Aldi is a great place to shop for basics. Their own brands are excellent and some items are actually better than brand name.

Always find good prices there plus the stores very clean and the workers are very friendly and helpful. Yes I would advise a lot of you who haven't shopped there, try shopping there. I guarantee you'll love it there

This email is about the manager at Aldi’s at Whitehall, Pa on May 20,2023.
I am an 84 year old widow, no cell phone, who purchases all my food shopping at this store.

After spending $50 I got to my car only to find I left my keys inside. Upset and embarrassed I sought out the manager, Karina Gonzalez, who took care of my dilemma and stress. She used her phone to contact my neighbor, but no answer. Then I suggested calling 911, but they would only help if there was a pet or person locked in the car. My AAA info was in the car and Karina said it would take them 2 hours to arrive.
Finally Karina called UBER which was there in 6 minutes. Karina took care of my cart for my return shortly, I live 10 minutes away.
Karina was so gracious and refused the money I insisted she take for her being so helpful to a stranger.
When I got home I asked the driver if he took credit cards. When he said “no” my heart sank, however he said my ride was already paid by Karina and he could not tell me how much it was so I could reimburse her when I see her again.

Never did I ever hear of a store manager going above and beyond the way Karina did for me.
Karina would not allow me to reward her, so I hope the company does.

The quality of their items never disappoints and I am always blown away by the things I find in the Aldi finds aisle.

Certain places you grocery shop you go based on either price or quality and Aldi s is always great for the select staples. Frozen berries, fruit, egg whites and some of the limited out of the ordinary items like protein crisps are great to get here. Always worth stopping if it's on the way back home.

I enjoy going to Aldi"s prices are very good. However, as much as I enjoy it I do not like when a cashier will sit and argue with you over a price tag. In fact, today I went and picked up some brocolli. The cashier did not have the correct code to enter and he tried to charge me. 39 cents more than was indicated on the sign. Furthermore, I have had cashiers try to short change me at the register. So, now I have to check my change before I leave the register. I know it may only be a couple of cents here or there but multiply that by 3 or 4 hundred customers that go through their daily and the person is taking home quite a nice size tip. So, as much as I enjoy shopping there and the prices are fairly reasonable compared to other places you do have to be aware of the price tags and check your change before you leave. I don't know how to add a pic to the review otherwise I would have added the tag where it stated $1.45 not $1.45 per pound. While it may seem silly to some to post a review over a couple of cents. We work very hard for that couple of cents and every penny counts when you are on a budget.
My husband was just in the store today and the cashiers continue to play games with customer emotions. While he was standing in line the cashier appeared to be opening up another register. He politely inquired are you opening up another line to which she put up her finger up giving an affirming nod and stated wait one second. My husband then moved to the line where she appeared to be opening and placed everything on the belt. When the cashier came back he stated to her are you going to be opening up the line to which she belligerently answered I never told you I was opening up. My husband then said to her you gave an affirming nod and told me to wait one second. I would have never put my items on the belt if you would have said no. When he looked to the back of the store three cashiers were standing in the back laughing. Apparently this is not the first time they have played this game on a customer. While their items are of good value their customer service is subpar to say the least. I used to enjoy shopping here. Now I only go if I absolutely have to.

Nice produce but I was disappointed in the general lack of brand name products. Mostly everything was generic products.

Best is a super fast checkout, isles with all kinds of household, pet, women, men, holiday items that won't last long. My fav is their Specially selected Vanilla premium ice cream. So creamy, only 5 ingredients. Only downside sometimes they either run out of food choices, or not sure of what or how much the delivery trucks bring. So you have to stop in more often.

Even though the prices have increased up to 30%, I will continue to shop for my 12 faces from this store.
I gave noticed that some of their produce is less than good. Recently, I purchased a bag of Brussel Sprouts and decided to halve them then roast them in oven. Except for 2, every BS was rotten through the middle. I rebagged them and returned them with my receipt but all I received was my money. It shows online the return policy refunds money PLUS a replacement. It never happens.
