I am on my sixth attempt to get a very important and urgent bank letter written correctly for a visa application. Customer care did not take accurate notes of the request, so the document requested was never sent. When I called back, I learned that notes recorded from the call were full of error. I had to cancel a flight due to this. There was no way to reach a manager on the matter. I finally figured out how to reach a manager by asking for a call back from the department they said I was not allowed to talk to.

Horrible! It's been months working on an Estate. They do not have a direct line to Trust or Back Office. After submitting documents by fax, mail and uploaded via email they are still unable to verify receipt. I'm assisting someone, even calling together they require a call back. It impossible. Then someone from another department calls and says you must do something with this account before it becomes dormant. Please, let us know what documents and how to provide! Supervisor was rude and her conversation with rep broke through while I was on hold. Just WOW Clarissa. That was unprofessional.

Ally lost $10,000 from my Savings account. Ally told me the money will be returned to me "today", when it wasn't returned "today", I was told it would take "1 to 2 days", when it wasn't returned in "1 to 2 days", I was told they are doing everything they can to return the $10,000. They lost the $10,000 on February 9,2023, today is February 16,2023 and the $10,000 is still "lost".

This bank is a mess. My car got totaled and I behind on payment, I called them multiple times to get payment plan and the representative will tell me they’re transferring me to totaled loss department and the machine will tell me that the number does not exist and hang up.
I worried this would affect my credit because everyone I talked to keep transferring me to an unknown number that doesn’t exist.

Can someone help me here.
How can I get them to put me on payment plan. It’s frustrating

I had my auto loan through Ally. I just paid off my loan. I never had any contact with Ally employees. I just made my monthly payments through the app. I received my title quickly. I didn't have any issues with my loan. Though my interest rate was high, I know my credit wasn't good so I'm thankful for Ally working with me

Ally bank has very bad customer service. I would not recommend this bank, and as soon as I can close out my account I will.

I don't know how they continue to exist. My son passed away November of last year. I've been calling Ally for a month and a half. 99% of the time I get someone overseas who keeps asking me the same questions over and over. When I did get someone in the US I was told that she couldn't talk to me about the car. I told her that someone had called me a couple of days before about the past due payments and had given me the fax number to send the death certificate. I told her that I had faxed the death certificate the day before. She said they didn't have it yet and it would take 72 hours for them to revive the fax!? Three weeks later. I still can not talk to anyone in the 'Relative' department. Their hold times are ridiculous. Like how do you have a department that deals with customer death and grieving relatives can't get through? Not a customer friendly company at all. I don't think they even have anyone at all in the non-existent 'Relative' department.

THE WORSE OR THE WORST!

I gave them 1 Star a month ago and it got worse. They won't let you post without a star ranking but Ally is in the negaive (-) on customer service.

I had to file a claim for my deceased brother. When I finally got a live person on Nov 22 I was told to send documents to a PO Box. They wanted a death certificate, copy of my Driver's License and other documents sent to a PO BOX where anyone could see them. When I asked for a physical address due to the sensitvie nature of the documents they would not provide one.

Fortunately, the woman I spoke to called me back and offered to send me a secued link to upload my documents. She also gave me her extension so I could contact her directly. I thanked her and told her she surprised me and went on to explain my poor opinion of Ally Bank and how she had swayed my opinion. She thanked me for my understanding and seemed genuine when she stated she would process the documents and get back to me.

When I uploaded the docs on Nov 23 via the link provided the message stated my request would be processed in 3-5 business days.

Ignoring the day of transfer and allowing for the Friday after Thanksgiving as a holiday, I waited 5 business days to Friday, Dec 2 to call for s status report.

I did not get the same person I spoke to previously but the woman took my name and number and told me I would get a call back.

Three (3) business days since that call and no one has called me back.

This is not about unusual call volume or being overworked. This is working at providing the worse possible service imaginable.

Ally Bank is dreadful. I feel sorry for the customers who try to deal with them on a personal basis. Ally Bank goes out of its way to piss you off and treat you like garbage.

I can't wait to get this claim completed and never have to deal with Ally Bank again.

This is a deposit relationship. If this is how depositors are treated I can imagine the horrendous treatment one would get if you owed them money!

Horrible customer service hold time. I visited one of the offices listed and could not get anyone to talk to me. I spoke to someone who worked for the facility's property management. He was in the office and on the phone with someone who worked there and all they could is give me a business card with Ally's 800#. We have an urgent issue that needs attention and to talk someone will take a 30+ minutes hold time.

I don't care what their rates are, anyone who does business with this institution belongs in one.

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM ALLY BANK!

Cannot believe ALLY operates as they do without any oversight or accountability. Today, January 6,2023, they refuse to provide any account activity, bank statements, or transparency regarding the accounts of my deceased brother. My Nieces received a check supposedly for their interest in the accounts their Dad name them on. However, there was potential fraud activity on accounts involving my brother while he was the hospital in a coma and unable to make online transfers. I did what I could to change bank statements on my end to stop any possible fraudulent activity going forward. But Ally provided no assistance or cooperation in helping to determine if there was any fraud.

Their extended hold times are a pleasure compared to the frustration of actually having to deal with ALLY. Yuk!

If I could give this bank 0 stars I would. Ally bank is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. My daughter financed her jeep through ally, and there have been nothing but problems. Since August they have made it so difficult for her to pay her car payment and eventually told her she could no longer do automatic payments. She had to either send in a paper check or send a money gram through Walmart. She sent the check and made sure to certify it and somehow it still didn’t get received even being signed for. A week ago she sent the money gram so she could get her October payment made and it still wasn’t received even being informed it should be there no later the November 8. When you call customer service for help they are unable to help you, and will argue with you to speak to a supervisor. Sometimes it would take 20 to 30 mins to even speak to one or they have to call back later. One of the worst companies, they don’t care about their customers. This bank is the worst. If you can use a different one do it because this bank will cause nothing but problems

I wish I read these reviews before I blindly trusted NerdWallet's 5 star review.this is the worst bank customer service I have ever dealt with. As an example, my partner and I signed up during a promotion period, it was a big reason we chose this bank over other highly rated ones. We were promised $250 if we complied with their terms. We did and after 90 days, still no payment. The only info we can get from them says 'this has been escalated and we will get you a response in 7-10 days' well, its been 60 days of this. Nothing. It seems Ally lied about their promotion. We are leaving ASAP for a bank with customer service.

Worst online banking and longest wait costumer service. I was on the phone 2nd day for more than 1hr wait for just simply needing a forgotten username help. Also they don't have online reset if you forgot your username. Zelle is next day. I like the yield interest buy you have no easy control with your accounts.

I just opened a loan with this company. Made my first 2 payments no issue and set up auto payment after my second payment. Now they don't know why the money wasn't pulled, etc, trying to make it a me issue when something is clearly wrong with their system. Going to refinance ASAP.

Would never use them got rid of them in aug. 2020 and refinance with another company. When I went to sell my car to the dealership. On the paper work stated I was still with them which was incorrect. They gave me nothing but the run around just to get a paper faxed from them to the dealership stating that I no longer have a loan with them. I would never deal with them. Also when I purchased my vehicle there were myself that signed they only put one person name on the title.

"These funds are subject to an extended hold because we have confidential information that indicates that the check may not be paid. If the check is not paid, we'll notify you by mail. "

The check is from my brother-in-law's law firm. It is as good as gold.

This bank stinks on ice- avoid at any cost.

Absolutely terrible. If I could put 0 stars I would. Possibly worst customer service in the world. They even tried to steal one of my payments saying they’ve refunded me when they never have.

I only give this one star for those couple people at customer service that were truly concerned, everything and everyone other than those couple deserve #0 for their grading. I have recently lost my mother that had an active investment account with this company. She died very quickly, without the time to get things in order. I was given the responsibility to care for my mother's last wishes, and her financials after her passing. I was given by the MD Circuit Court the position of "Trustee of her Estate" and given legal rights to collect the funds in any account. I reached out to Ally on September 19,2021 and notified them of her passing and furnished them with a copy of the court order, they told me someone would reach out within 3-5 days. (NO RETURN CALL OR MESSAGE), I then made contact by phone (12) times over the last 100 days and (16) times by email. (ALL WHICH I HAVE DOCUMENTED WITH NAMES, DATES AND EMAILS). I have been forced to furnish my personal financial information, and all types of financial questions being required before they will give me an account with ALLY. (ONE WHICH I DO NOT WANT, NOR HAVE I REQUESTED). Someone by the name Grant Davis has been playing games and thinks this is a joke or something to frustrate people with while going through a family tragedy. He has made continuous requests for new information and denying what was supplied to him. I never wanted an ALLY account, and after the way they have treated me; I would never utilize their company for my financial needs. I have also requested 5 times for a Supervisor to return my call and 6 requests by email for that same request. Not once has anyone returned my request for a call or email, although, I have been hung-up on/disconnected after being placed on hold for 20 minutes awaiting a Supervisor. I will be turning over this account to my mother's Estate Attorney to have him complete the process with these unprofessional people. I will be filing a complaint with the State and Federal Agencies that oversee there business and its licensing, and hope they het some type of fine or penalties for their fraudulent practices.
(SHAME ON YOU ALLY FOR TREATING THOSE THAT GIVE YOU YOUR FINANCIAL STABILITY AND GROWTH.)
PS: If anyone would like to discuss these matters feel free to call or message, but I doubt they really even care.

Respectfully Submitted,
Wm Tankersley, Jr.

This place still has my car’s title 2 MONTHS after I fully bought out my lease at lease end. If this is the only lender your car’s brand will work with, get another car! Stay far away from them, what a waste of money. I’m going to have to pay thousands in taxes because I didn’t sell towards another lease by year end. And it’s entirely due to Ally! I own this car and they are holding my title still! There’s only so long I will keep waiting on hold to talk to someone before my next call will be to legal counsel.

I paid my car on time for an entire year. I literally lost my job due to a massive lay off at my job due to Covid. I simply asked for a one month extension while I looked for work. They denied me. I would think being that I was so responsible and got laid off through no fault of my own they would work with me. Guess I was wrong.
