Went to a craft show next to the American Legion. There was no distinct signs for parking. My friend being a disabled veteran with correct plates and tags found a handicap spot. First a gentleman came out and was polite told us that we would have to move cause we were in a parking spot reserved for American Legion members. My friend at this point was feeding her baby and the gentleman was okay with us moving our car after she was done feeding. Not even 5 mins later a spot further down that was unmarked as American legion opened up. After everyone was buckled back in we were getting ready to move and a lady came out of the American Legion and said with hostility we need to move. She clearly saw my friends handicap plate and sign because of the following statement she made. As we were asking her if we could move to the new spot she said "no, and it looks like you guys get around just fine. " Clearly she lacks the understanding that not all disabilities are visible. Comments like hers are appalling, hurtful and ignorant. Along with the fact the my friends is a disable vet and doesn't the American Legion support veterans?

So we pulled into a handicapped spot by them to go to craft fair. They came out and asked us to move. Said we would but needed to finish feeding baby. Before we were done another woman came out and asked us to move again. She said their members needed closer spots to park amd we obviously could get around quicker and better than them. How rude! We had handicapped sticker for a reason and we also saw other people leaving right near us and nothing was said to them. Is it any wonder only old people are members. We clearly had a disabled veteran plate on front of the vehicle and handicapped sticker. We are trying to be nice. If They had approached us with a nicer attitude we would have a much better view of American Legion. Especially since we all have members in our family that are in the service. Maybe they should have roped off their lot if they didn’t want people to park there.
