Ankur G. Shah, MD reviews
5Dr. Ankur Shah is an excellent internist. He is extremely attentive, very personable, very knowledgeable and thorough. He takes time with each patient, addressing issues of concern. His staff is courteous and efficient as well. He returns calls, by the end of the business day. It is rare to find a physician of his caliber in today’s times. My spouse and I highly recommend him as a PCP.
Came in for a strange reoccurring sickness I’ve been having. Did not even care to ask why I had scheduled an appointment upon arrival. Immediately once he found out I was on a general anxiety medication, he started diagnosing my symptoms as “stress” or “anxiousness”. As a young healthy woman (who had a grip on my mental health), I can understand as to why some may not take me seriously in some situations, but when it comes to my medical health and status, I would like a doctor who at least listens to me. I left the office feeling embarrassed after no longer than a 20 minute appointment with him. I will not be returning and would discourage anyone who is young to stay away from Dr. Shah.
Have seen him for emergency visit as well as normal sinus issues. Both times he did not bother to listen to me nor did he seem to remotely familiarize himself with my chart. In the emergent situation he point blank told me (in front of his residents) that I did not have a specific disorder and did not bother to even consider it. A week later my hematologist confirmed that the initial diagnosis that Dr. Ankur Shah flat out denied and refused to consider was indeed the disorder I was suffering from. He is arrogant and rude at times and will ignore what a patient is saying even if that person is also a medical professional who knows their own body. He never apologized even though he could have listened to me or simply read my chart and prevented years of medical therapy. There are plenty of other physicians with better bedside manner to see instead. I will not ever see him again, I have already refused service when he is the only available physician.
DR Shah is my primary physician.
He is excellent. He always spend some time explaining details. Never rushes the evaluation.
