Food was fine. Beer was a little expensive for something I had to get myself. They were playing country music over the speakers. Not Johnny Cash type country music that's got enough blues in it to be tolerable, but yeehaw heehaw truck/dog/beer southern draw auditory-abuse type country music. For an hour and a half. Again, food was good, service was good, beer selection was good.

First off, I'd like to say that in concept, this place is cool. That being said, walking into an empty bar and restaurant, on a Sunday afternoon, during football season, is never a good sign. These are the reasons I won't be back to the beer wall.

-This place is really expensive. It's very VERY easy to run your tab up, because you pull your own beer. The bartender explained that sometimes the beer pull will still run even if the keg is empty. We accidentally added $72 to our tab all because the keg was empty. They did take the extra money off the tab once we said something, but it's not worth the stress.
-Half of their beer list was displaying empty on their beer wall. There's no point in offering such a large selection if you can't manage and refill kegs when they run out.
-On top of that, the ambiance sucks. There's nothing to do except the free pinball machines upstairs. It was dead quiet inside with no music running. Not even a TV (except on in the back playing movies). Just us, the horribly unprofessional bartender, and an empty beer list.
- The bartender barely explained anything until we asked, and once we were pouring our drinks, I turned around, and she was clearly talking about us and laughing. She didn't do much other than stand behind the empty bar talking to another employee. Not necessarily the bartending experience I enjoy.
-Back of the house was loud and rowdy. With some guy walking through the dining room yelling about racism. We chose to drink our one drink each and leave.

I think this place is a cool idea, but staff needs to be trained on how to approach, speak, and act around customers. They also need to manage their beer selection better, because it's not worth coming in if half the selection is missing anyway. If you're looking for a place that has ambiance and actual people, try West Reading pub or Chatty Monks.

We went, drove over an hour for a birthday dinner, we had a reservation for a group of people, we showed up & the place had been reserved for a party. No one called us to cancel our reservation. They gave us a gift card & said it was someone who was new. That would have been fine if I hadn't called to confirm a few days prior.

Finally a bar for me, who actually doesn't like beer and never wants a full pour. I'm quite happy to only get 2 ounces to nurse all night while I'm hanging out but still feel like I'm doing the thing.

But seriously, it's a great concept. Self serve beer, pay for what you pour. A great way to try a bunch of different taps without having to order 16 pints.

We frequent Penn ave on a regular basis. We had family visiting from San Francisco. We are almost always low maintenance/go with the flow type of people.
It was my worst experience on Penn Ave in ten years.
The poor waitress seemed overwhelmed and nearly alone.
We waited over an hour for food and then took it to go because we had somewhere to be.
I ordered a burger which was cold and bloody red throughout as if it was barely cooked. It had to be sent back which they did take off the bill.
We ordered fries and got chips so my 6 year old was crying. His food actually never came.
My wife ended up with vomiting all night after eating a chicken sandwich.
We look forward to improvements so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. We understand and hope this was a one time experience and felt compelled to post a review.

Tried this restaurant/bar for the first time this week and was very disappointed. First the concept is cool, but that was about it. Staff was friendly enough but seems detached and more concerned about talking with each other and hanging out. Unfortunately, the food was really bad. I went on their advertised $2 off taco night and had the Jerk Shrimp tacos. They were almost inedible. They were wet and slimy and filled with a runny watery substance. Tortilla was hard but not in a good way. My wife had the chicken version and it was equally bad and water logged. I opted for the upgraded duck fat fries which we pretty good, but definitely not worth a $5 upcharge. I was charged full price. But by the time the server came back around we just paid and left it wasn't worth the money. Basically $60 for two bad tacos and average beer. Definitely not worth it. Beer wall was different and kind of fun, but pricey. Numerous taps were empty. Selection was ok. In a town like West Reading where you have lots of excellent options this one was disappointing.

So my husband and I came for a date night since we were able to get out for the first time in how long. We used to love coming here but haven’t been since last winter. We always loved the drinks and food. The other night was absolutely horrible. 5 beer selections were out. The food was awful. I got the chicken and waffles and they were cold. The chicken was too done and half burnt. My husband got a burger which was so tiny and skinny, the bun was burnt, it only had one shrimp on it, they put almost an entire half of an onion on it and barely any sauce. I never got a refill on my water. Not once did the waiter come over to even check on us. They wouldn’t even make eye contact with us because they had to know we were annoyed. There was a table of 3 girls behind us. They checked on them multiple times. A little guy with red hair and dangly earring even came out the kitchen and checked on them. There was another couple behind us as well that got checked on multiple times and not once us. For the price we spent there it was by far the worst experience. I will not return to this establishment. I’m not sure if it has gone under new management or what. They were also playing music so loud at 6pm on Wednesday night. I had to ask someone to turn it down because we couldn’t even talk because it was that loud. They turned it down for a bit then put on R&B because the 3 girls requested it and then they turned it back up. The entire vibe was completely off and it was a completely different atmosphere than it use to be by far by the kind of people that were in there and working. I messaged on Fb they asked me what the problem was I sent them this entire message and never ever heard a thing back.

Fabulous concept in West Reading and they have their own parking lot in the back! I've been here a few times now and my friends and I love how we can taste different beers at our own leisure. It's unique and FUN. You pay per ounce so you can control how much you spend. Prices are very reasonable too! They also have cocktails and wine. The steak sandwich was incredible, as were the duck fat fries! A buddy ordered the Nashville hot chicken strips that came with a hot honey drizzle and they were great, perfect amount of spice! Service was friendly and the atmosphere is chill and laid back. Definitely one of the highlights of Penn Ave!

Food was over fried, almost burnt. Items on the menu online, were not what was actually there on the menu.self serve beers were more expensive then if you got served at other restaurants. So sorry, not impressed

Would give 0 stars if I could. Walked in at 5: 30 for a table of 2, was told they were full of reservations with no available tables. They offered the front and back patio, but at 88° with no shade, that was a no-go. As I walked to check out the back patio, I noticed a completely empty dining room where each table held a reservation card. Some reservations weren’t even until 6: 45 and later. I would have been gone by then, so I’m not quite sure why this business would prefer to keep their tables vacant and waiting while turning business away in the meantime. If the only thing open for walk-ins is the bar, maybe consider a bar that holds more than 10?

35$ all you can eat crab legs, beer you can pour to what you want, free games. Cool place. Can get a bit crowded when you’re trying to eat on certain nights.

A very nice place and the beers are very good the only thing is that we order steak fajitas, and it seems that the chef forgot the fajitas was for the clients not for him that was full of blood and the girl I told her we don’t like that with blood we like it very well done, but she didn’t ask us before doing the order, so she went to the chef, and he cooked it more that what he said and still came back with blood so guess what I can’t pay for something that I don’t like but yeas the beer was nice love that all different flavors.
