Japanese Restaurant Benihana reviews
21Yikes! The reason I’m giving any stars at all is because of the food and the chef who prepared our meal. This restaurant is so disgustingly dirty that we almost turned around as soon as we stepped inside. Our shoes were sticking TO THE CARPET? ! The bathrooms were just as nasty. The waitress was barely around and we had to ask for things multiple times. Also, not sure the hood was working because my friends were being blasted with steam the entire time. Time for an upgrade Benihana! Editing my review from 2 stars to 1 because I did fill out a full response as suggested below and never heard back! Embarassing.
Friendly smiles from our hostess. Great service by Karen our waitress and a excellent show by Ayed our chef. The food was cooked to perfection, from the meat to the veggies to even the sauteed onions. It was definitely good choice for date night. We will definitely return with our children.
My wife was super excited about going here last night. We ended up leaving because the place was so dirty. We sat with a lovely family at the 3rd grill from the entrance. We were excited until our 3 yr old picked up a used bandaid from the area next to chef's right side grill station. Fortunately we noticed it in her hand very quickly because we were already nervous of her being near the grill (not the restaurant fault, it's just how the seating is). Unfortunately my wife was so grossed out that a used bandaid was still on the table that we had to leave. I feel really bad because my wife was so excited to go there. My 6 yr old was very upset that we had to leave, but kept his "hat" on all the way home.
I so desperately wish I'd read the reviews. You could scroll and see 6 months ago they couldn't seat people properly. We arrived on time for our 7: 15 reservation, only to wait till 7: 40 to be told we'd have to wait " a lot longer" if we wanted to sit at a hibachi. My family being hungry and visiting the area for the last night wanted a fun good meal, we reluctantly took a non-hibachi table next to the bar. The bar tender did their best to serve us as well as the other people they shoved into the area a bit after my party of 4. Food was sub-par and they forgot to serve 2 of our courses. We also were told we'd be comped a free $8 appetizer only for it to show up and on the bill and have to ask for it removed. SAVE YOUR MONEY. You will be paying the "experience" prices even if you can't get a hibachi table. I will forever tell anyone who mentions Benihana near me to go local instead of this poorly executed chain.
My family and I visited the Plymouth Meeting location Saturday night. I have never been to this specific location but have been to others. Our visit was saved by our server, Carlyn (I could be spelling her name wrong, I apologize). She was absolutely wonderful and made the 2+ hour visit tolerable. I understand everywhere is understaffed, especially the restaurant business. Carlyn stayed on top of everything while being extremely busy and did phenomenal. I highly recommend that if you go, ask for her. A few other staff members were friendly and great with our kids as well.
Overall, the place needs to be renovated. The ventilation in there is terrible. Tables and chairs are sticky and dishes weren't the cleanest. I would avoid the bathrooms all together.
Our cook was nice and good with our kids. Food was good. The garlic butter that they cook everything with is really good.
Disappointed in the whole atmosphere and experience as I definitely had higher expectations. But again, our server went above and beyond which made our experience not a complete flop.
Honestly please avoid this restaurant it’s the worst! This was my Husband and I first time going there and we went for my little sister bday dinner. We had reservations at 7: 30 and wasn’t seated until 8: 15 and it’s because my Brother in love spoke to one of the employees. After being seated we had to wait another 30 mins until the server took our orders, then another 20 mins for the chef! The food was Okay not worth the price we paid, the chef cut up 3 little shrimp to make it look like it was a lot! I would never go back to this restaurant even if the food is free! We were there for 3hrs overall! Just a horrible experience!
I really enjoyed my time. My Chef was Tyrone and server was Caryn. Tyrone was so down to earth great conversation and willing to ensure that we were happy. Caryn was constantly checking on us. Great service!
This is the worst experience ever! I brought my 10 yr old daughter out for a night on the town and we stopped here. Our reservation was for 915 the took us early so we were happy of course but here it is 1135 and he's just starting to cook our meal. I wanted my daughter to experience the theatrical part of tonight's dinner and was clearly let down like igniting a fire cracker and it don't go off. The chef reynold and his entire staff failed an I was told by the chef that it's not his job to get sauce cups and he stood next to the grill that wasn't even hot. Lazaro Melendez the manager that was on duty is subpar at best. I wouldn't let him manage the paint drying on a wall. Too many excuses I didn't come here for a discount I came for an experience. Never again for the record our meal should've been free. No toilet paper in the bathroom and it had gnats in there
This place went down hill. Use to be the spot for a great night out and great food. I understand being short with staff but when your staff don't know what they're doing it creates a mess. Went for a kids birthday that was a reservation and did not have a good time. We had to push to not divide the party; waited about 1 hr and 40 mins for the chef; the meal wasn't fulling; and for the birthday they forgot to bring out the cake we came with. Save your money and go somewhere else for habachi.
We have been going here a long time and today was our last time. Everything about this place has been going downhill for a while. Today, our “chef’’ did a few lackluster tricks but seemed to really not want to be there. He cooked the food but got a lot of things wrong. I felt bad for a little girl at our table who was excited to see the show. Her mom was ready to videotape the chef. And he did basically nothing. The the parties of two at our station all agreed them at it was a very poor experience. And it’s not an inexpensive meal. We paid for an experience and a good meal, and received no experience and a lackluster meal. When we brought the manager over to the table, he gave off the vibe of really not caring. And the place itself is grungy and is in need of at least a good cleaning; a complete rebuild should be strongly considered. Anyway, we had a good run there and it is over as of today.
I was at this location celebrating me and my girlfriend's birthday's.it was a very good dining experience.very clean inside and exciting show that the chef's perform while preparing your habachi or meal of your choice.its much to choose from.the five course meal is alot of food, but you can take it home if to much to eat all at once.
We dined at the Cherry Hill location for my son’s birthday. Chef Jun’s food was delicious and he deadpan humor was extremely entertaining for my too cool for school sons and daughter! We really had a great time and thanks to the Manager Kris for checking on us and our server for her hospitality…her name escapes me but she has blonde curly hair.
I have to say this because I am tired of going into restaurants and seeing the same issues…let’s start with being greeted…it never happens at this restaurant, no one is ever at the front. Another issue the floors and restrooms, do you guys clean? Like seriously do you ever? The floors are filthy especially in the front which blows my mind! The bathrooms are like porter potty conditions! I’m tired of it. It’s shame because the food is good but it makes me question what the kitchen looks like. Please take pride in the appearance! Please and thank you!
This place was nasty. You walk in the door and are just skeeved out. We had a reservation at 4 came in at 3: 45 and they told us it was going to be a long wait the chefs were behind. The place was pretty empty overall. Empty tables as far as the eye could see. Sitting in the lobby we were so grossed out we just got up and left after 10 minutes.
Walked in for our reservation excited for a classy experience due to the “attire” rules. Unappealing and overall bad vibe. Hostess wasn’t there, lots of empty tables, and those that were seated were not eating and were rather unhappy looking or were looking for a cook. We and a few other families also walked out. Not the experience we were hoping for!
Rating at 1 star after sitting in the parking lot for 60+ minutes waiting for fried rice when I order online 30 minutes prior to arrival. Be prepared for a wait here! This isn't fast, quick or timely food. Disappointed so far and I haven't even tried the food. Not worth the wait! They lost the order and on top of that food looks so so. Your results and experience may be different.
I went here tonight with my husband. I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes. When the waiter final came to the table. The grill wasn’t hot enough too cook. The bathrooms were a mess and toilet paper ran out. This place is truly horrible and should be shut down. The manager was not prepared and made excuses as to why the service was horrible. I will never come back here and I don’t think you should come here ever.
After so many years, Benihana still has what it takes to provide a very satisfying customer experience. We had a party of 10 for a birthday celebration. The service was great (thanks Karen) and the food was delicious (thanks Rydell). If I had to mention one thing needing attention, it is that a soap dispenser in the men's bathroom was out of order. But no problem because there was a second one on another wall that worked.
I took my mom here for her birthday and we had an amazing experience. This was her first time there and definitely not our last. Our server Jenny was so sweet and very attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu and our chef I think his name was Juan did his thing lol. The food was amazing and prepared well. If I could give more stars I would.
I took my daughter here for her birthday she turned 8 and everything was great, I had a party of 15, the kids sat at one table and the cook did sooooo good with keeping there attention our waiter ommggg she was super amazing as well and patient with the 9 kids we had with us! I highly recommend this place!
