Big Bowl Noodle House reviews
19Food here is delicious. They also have fountain Coke Zero which I’ve never seen anywhere else so that’s neat
Great food, quick service. General Tso’s is meh (too sweet), but I love the Chicken with Broccoli and the wonton soup.
The food is excellent, they will adapt recipes for you, there are always specials on the board. Lots of seating. No parking lot, but it's downtown State College, so it's metered street parking. Rather steep stairs down to restaurant. Dine in or take out. Cash or card now!
Amazing! This "underground" restaurant is extremely good in terms of price and food. Everything we ordered was relatively cheap and came in a huge portion that we packed up for that night's dinner. As an added bonus, they have bubble tea and their taro flavor is great. If you're ever in State College, check this place out!
Food was mediocre at best, nothing I ordered was good. Dingy cafeteria style seating. I wouldn't recommend it at all!
Parking may be rough, but the food is delicious. Very quick service and lovely atmosphere.
Food was very good, but all containers are Styrofoam. I don't return to places who use single serve containers. Wasteful!
Affordable Chinese take out. Probably the best in State College!
Nice big portions and friendly staff.
Come here frequently!
This food was bussin. It is true authentic Chinese food that I would get every day if I had money.
I have literally been coming to big bowl noodle house for 10 years now. It was the first Chinese restaurant I ate at after moving to US for college; my now-fiancé and I had our first date here when we were broke college kids; I took my whole family here on my graduation day; now once in a while, I still drive 3+ hours to eat here on a weekend! To me, the taste of big bowl noodle house is the taste of home.
The portion size of everything is HUGE and so affordable. The staff are always so pleasant and welcoming. Over the year we tried most of their menu: Chinese veggie with tofu skin and sliced pork with Chinese eggplant are hands down our favorite. Their food is nothing like those greasy American Chinese food, everything is well-favored and hearty, tasted truly homemade.
I honestly cannot say enough good things about big bowl noodle house, if you are in State College, this is a must try!
Fantastic shrimp and pork wanton noodle soup! The entrance is a little tricky to find, you have to look for the stairs that go down one floor below street level. Otherwise it's a pretty basic but spacious Chinese restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the portions are a good size.
Sadly inflation has hit my favorite restaurant. Take out container with large compartment filled with white rice (this is supposed to be where your entree goes), 1 small compartment half filled with mostly sauce, another small compartment filled with rice topped with mostly onions and peppers and a small portion of beef to make you think it was all filled with the entree they put rice under it. So basically you get mostly white rice for $11. The noodles were the same. You get mostly noodles for the price. I have been coming here for over 10 years and what used to be a good deal for the customer has become a good deal for the restaurant. Taste is still good but you will just get mostly filler for your money.
Hidden gem! At one point, the best Chinese food in State College. (Still great, but some stiffer competition lately). Decor and ambience isn't great, but the food is. The noodle soups are particularly good.
Because of the high ratings, my husband, me and my daughter decided to give it a try.
I'm not sure if it was just a bad day all the way around, but I will never eat there again. Both my daughter and I got extremely sick several hours after and stayed that way for another day.
Phenomenal! I’ve tried nearly every Chinese restaurant downtown and in the surrounding areas.this place shines above. Cheap, large portion sizes, fresh ingredients, well cooked, what more could you ask for? I’ll definitely be back.
I was definitely impressed coming in- this is no ordinary restaurant not only are their drunken noodles out of this world but they also have swings for seats!
Best Chinese food in town. Best noodles. Cash only so be prepared. ATMs nearby if needed. Note, it is down the stairs next to McLanahans.
Amazing prices for amazing food. My Taiwanese dad loved it and I feel like that says enough on its own. We got the beef noodle soup and zhajiangmian (black bean noodles). He could not stop raving about how good it was.
This is the most logical place for me to eat as a grad student a brief 8 min.walk away. The food is good, service is good, and this establishment lives up to it's name! The portions are usually too much for me to eat in one sitting and I can get through the day and can keep the rest for later - this is totally economically friendly for the stipend budget lol. I am so thankful for Big Bowl.
P. S.as I write this review there is a chipmunk that has come back for the third time scheming to get a bite of my General Tso's! Lol
