Rude staff. Will tell you they don't believe you simply based on factors such as age. Shared personal information on other clients they had which is an extreme violation of their rights. The sessions my friend experienced were unhelpful and anxiety inducing. People come here for help—not to be accused and belittled. Especially after horrible experiences they are currently still undergoing. When your client tells you point blank that they would like to not discuss a certain topic with a therapist who is very clearly biased against them maybe take the hint! They're here for something completely different, not whatever mundane thing you would rather talk about that you think is more important. Stop treating your clients like they are liars. Stop telling your clients your other clients personal information! I do not recommend this place.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the people at blackburn! Simply the best, caring and supportive group out there! Don't be afraid to go! I don't understand the negative reviews here? I've had nothing but helpful people on the phone or in person? !

We would never recommend anyone going here. Had extremely bad experience and they were absolutely no help what so ever.

My friend stayed there and she was treated like she was treated horribly by someone named Barb, who picks n chooses who gets help and who doesn't. When my friend told her story this woman was rolling her eyes and laughing. I've heard other horror stories from other women who stayed there who are terrified to say anything. This place needs investigated by the authorities

If I could give a negative star I would. My daughter has called for 2 weeks.everyday! When she finally did speak to the attorney, she was rude and told her there was nothing she could do for her because she hasn't been a resident of Westmoreland County for 6 months. This is the kind of help that women trying to get out of a domestic abuse relationship are getting. You should be ashamed of yourselves. The police can only do so much because this is a civil matter and Blackburn waited 2 weeks to return a call and no saying that my daughter should have done things differently. That's what we needed them to help us do things the right way.

Wouldn't recommend this place to my enemies let alone stay there. If I could give it zero stars I would. The staff was rude as soon as the phone was answered and they wouldn't answer my questions about getting help. Never go here!

Blackburn is very unprofessional they play on their phones while you talking to them about how they made you feel they make excuses and lie about helping people. They have put me out on the streets because I have went to them for advice and the one staff twisted my words. I feel like people are very selfish and self consider and have no care in the world for humanity.

My experience has been most helpful. The genuine caring concern and counseling has been so meaningful to my journey. True healers.

I called the center for help one night and they told me there wasnt any room and to find a friends house to go to.also the lady didnt want to really hear my story she was trying to get off the phone with me.no wonder women just stay where they are and put up with it.

Blackburn is at the forefront of the effort to eliminate violence, most notably through its emphasis on primary prevention. It is an honor to be involved with such a wonderful organization.

I have been a Board member at Blackburn twice. The caring and concern of the staff and administration, the low staff turnover, and 43 years of community, local, state and federal funding is proof positive of the commitment and the exceptional quality of services available. In 2019 3000 people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of violence came seeking a haven where they would feel supported and respected. The Center provides shelter, safety, supportive counseling, hotline, and legal and medical support.all free and confidential 365,24/7. If you need help, it is a phone call or hotline call away.

I have been associated with the Blackburn Center for 10 years and currently serve on the Board. This organization provides excellent, much-needed services to our community and I am proud to be associated with the dedicated staff and volunteers. If you need help, please contact the Center.

The women who work here do not help you. They sit in the office gossiping and eating snacks & such- they do the BARE MINIMUM they are required to help- the other ladies there were all nasty and mean & it totally felt more like a jail inside of a nice house vs a dmv shelter. If they had new people working and they actually had meetings every other day and individual meetings to help you every morning- they would help the women be able to help themselves. Rather than say “here’s some pamphlets and websites you can go on” ugh what a joke. Several women either didn’t have anywhere to go or moved to someone else’s house after their 30 day stay there. Why not give them the tools the way a half way house does- and give them goals to complete every single day that will let them be only dependent on themselves? ‍️
