Brown Sugar Bakery & Cafe Inc reviews
17Ever since my trip to Jamaica in March, I've been trying to find some authentic food in Philly. This is the best so far! I had Jerk Chicken with Macaroni Cheese (more like Macaroni Pie) and Rice & Peas. It was well-seasoned and flavorful! I like a little more sauce personally, but I'm not mad. Delicious Beef Patty, too! The Sorrel juice was good. I mixed it with ginger ale and Moscato when I got home to cut the sweetness. I want to go back for the Escovitch, King Fish and Callaloo. There was a line, but someone took my order in the line. I took it as a sign that the food was good. 8/10
I ordered doubles with pepper. It was very good. The dough was really fresh. I am going back for the curry chicken roti. Stay tuned.
I tried their beef with rice and plantains. Beef is so tender and flavorful and the best part of the meal. Rice is good. I wasn't a huge fan of the plantains. The box was filled with meat and really good value, so if you're nearby, go for a visit!
Food was incredible! Haven’t had brown sugar oxtail and rice in over 2 years, came back for a visit and was very pleased! Will be back very soon!
Haven't been here in years but I wanted to reconnect with this establishment so I went to get some some and it wasn't bad I just wish it had more dumplings
Food taste good when you can get it. They should just post a daily menu. Customer service could be better.
One of my favorite places to eat in West Philly try and catch them on a day where they're doing doubles and their soya is amazing
Nice, tasty Caribbean food. Very reasonably priced. Could also get some bread and pastries
My brother and I stopped by for some Roti before an 11hr ride back home. Felicia and Cherry were so welcoming. The food was amazing. This is my new Philly go to spot.
Good food, Roti was everything!
Good customer service and flavor was on point felt like back home.
Food has become bland over the years. We recently had a snapper platter and soya roti. Both were bland. Service was good and the place is always clean.
No Flava, I'm Trinidadian and the food was lacking seasoning. I ordered a beef roti and this is the second time they cave me stew beef. Not cool. Everyone know that the meat inside a roti should be carried unless stated otherwise. That's very deceitful on their part. Also the roti skin was cold. I paid $14 for bland cold unworthy food. I do not recommend this establishment at all.
The only place in west philly to get authentic Trinidad Roti. Can't order ahead, just show up and wait 10 minutes. It's Caribbean time, worth the wait.
This is a very wired setup. This place have a lot of potential but not utilized. It could be so so much more. Lots of flies, I could barely focus on the menu because I kept having to fan them away. The food prep area looked fairly clean so I ordered a Roti (potato and Channa) it was delicious.
Delicious food. Healthiest juices. Fresh baked goodies and scrumptious patties - all kinds and awesome customer service!
They have a spicy and sweet vegetarian beef that is my favorite food in the city! Their sides are fantastic as well!
I went near closing time for them on Sat, so the Roti had sold out by the time I had arrived. They highly recommended the Cow Heel Soup and I obliged. I had never had it, but it was very tasty, with root vegetables and it was very fragrant. I also bought a chicken patty, a veggie patty and coco. That was also tasty. I gotta go back soon. Friendly customer service too!
