Asian Restaurant Buddakan reviews
24We showed up a bit early for our 9 pm reservation and the hostess happily seated us. With the guidance of our server, our group tried several types of dim sum, pepper beef, Peking duck, and donuts. The sake was a perfect complement to the meal as well. We will be back for sure.
I’m a sucker for Asian food but this place takes Asian food and spins it on its head, especially when it comes to there cashew chicken. It has so much flavour, with the broccoli, mushrooms and perfectly balled zucchini. It’s like the chicken takes a back seat since the sauce and vegetables are soo flavorful. We also the pad thai which was a change from the sad pad Thai I’ve had at some place. It was full of vegetables and again the protein took a backseat. As for the appetizer, we had the pork dumplings which were I thought were better than the chicken dumplings.
Had the edamame duplings and the char grilled angus beef.
-The broth had a sweet, savory flavor and the dumplings were creamy with a rich garloc flavor.
- The beef really nice to chew and provided some great flavors from the meat itself and the sauces it was in. The potatoes it came with were really thin, but tasted great with the sauce it came with. The watercress salad was also great, with the dressing that it was in being the biggest callout I have for flavor.
Sub-par I suspect this may have been because of the pandemic. I've eaten here before and it was fine. I had the short rib, it was a lil overcooked. My fiance had the lamb had to be sent back overcooked as well. The drinks weren't mixed properly.
Always a great night out when you come here. There staff is well experienced and always try there best. Even on a bust evening like we had they hustled to keep us happy. The sushi pizza is my first choice here.
Treated the bf to his birthday dinner here. The flights are amazing, staff is welcoming and attentive, food was pretty good. Ordered the sake flight, Zen-gria, Tea Smoked ribs (his fav), Rock Shrimp Bao Buns, Lobster Egg Rolls, Shanghai Lobster and Braised Short Rib. We enjoyed the experience and ambience more than anything. The bill was high, but I knew that going in so it wasn't a problem for me - I wanted us to experience what we wanted from the menu. Thanks Buddakan Philly!
Absolutely delicious food, and nice comfortable covered seating outdoors! Every bite was truly a treat - the tuna pizza, General Tso’s soup dumplings, the whole lobster, fried whole fish and more.
We did note we were celebrating a birthday, but sadly did not get brought out a celebratory desert however: (
Really good food as always but the service sometimes is lacking when we go but overall it's a great place with great food and good vibes. Highly recommended
We went for lunch today. We both got the bento lunch in which we picked one item from each of the 3 categories for $17. The food was great! Our waiter was very nice, professional and polite. Wonderful atmosphere. The edamame dumplings were delicious!
5 star restaurant! Food and service was exceptional. Recommend to anyone looking for great service and food.
Loved this place. The atmosphere and vibe was great. Needless to say the food was excellent. The sea bass was amazingly fresh and juicy. All appetizers we got were good too. Must try place in Philly.
To have dinner at the restaurant Buddakan you need a miner's helmet with a lantern. The size of the menu's letters is sponsored by a glass brand. The owners confuse Restaurant with a club. Nevertheless, the food is excellent!
Great experience. Excellent service. Some of the food wasn't as good as I exoected but overall it was pretty good. Noise level is pretty high between the music and chatter but you can carry a conversation. Definitely worth trying.
Upscale venue, very classy new age feel. Great food and well sized portions. Very hospitable atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend trying if you're in the area.
I love the atmosphere here and the food is really good too but it's very pricey. Four glasses of wine between two people was $80. Not worth it for a mouthful of Cabernet. Service is really good!
Last time I went was more than 10 years ago but the food and ambience were spectacular. From the moment you enter you can get an idea of the dining experience you will receive. The decor is elegant and bold just like the food!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food that is plated to be asthetically pleasing. The lamb was amazing. Very friendly staff, small bar and not a bad seat in the place. Highly recommend
This was our anniversary dinner and the Buddakan staff treated us very nicely. They seated us on the second level which was very personal and romantic (we both have never sat up there). Our server was also really professional and made descriptive recommendations whenever needed. The food is meant for sharing and the staff do a great job at spacing it out and seperating your choices into courses. Overall we had a very pleasant evening and Buddakan continues to be our favorite restaurant.
Loved the ambience of the restaurant! The lamb chops were excellent! Wish there was one where I live.
Very nice ambiance, great service, but average food. I would say it is American Asian food. Sauces taste like from a bottle in the Asian isle in the supermarket.
