They come at a random time either in the morning or later in the day, so you’re forced to put your trash out the night before. Then, since the trash is out all night, it could either rip open, or have animals open it. Then, they don’t pickup any loose trash left because of their own policy, and leave trash scattered all over your front yard/in the street.

Had them for over ten years, but they will not get another dime of my money. They always leave a mess when picking up my trash. A bag of cat litter must of broke while putting it on the truck and they left litter and trash laying on the street. They don't bother to separate recyclables. The prices have continually soured. Much better options in the area. Don't waste your time with these clowns.

I canceled service before I even started. They missed my first pick up which I would have understood being new but when I called to confirm pick up day multiple times no one returned my call. Terrible customer service. Straight to voice-mail or reached voice-mail and no return calls. All I wanted was to confirm my pick up day. Would never recommend this company.

Don’t use this company if you value customer service, good business practices, or straight forward services.

Just canceled service with Burgmeier’s after being with them for almost 6 years. We’ve had a dumpster for our business that has been serviced twice a month by Burgmeiers since 2017. Our service with the company has been fine up until this month. They’ve forgotten to empty our dumpster here and there. Their driver put the dumpster through a window in our business building a few years ago, which they never paid to fix (which they promised to do). But for the most part Burgmeier’s has done what they were paid to do and because I’m pretty laid back, we’ve stayed loyal to the business despite some minor problems.

Today I came home to find that without notice, Burgmeier’s had removed our large dumpster and replaced it with a considerably smaller 1 yard dumpster. Upon calling (and after having to call multiple times to get an actual person on the line) I found out that to save money, Burgmeier’s has made changes to the types of dumpsters and services they are offering customers and they aren’t notifying current customers impacted by these changes. Since they no longer are offering the services we had previously opted into, Burgmeier’s took it upon themselves to downsize our dumpster to a one yarder and to change our pick up frequency from once every other week to weekly. We received no notice advising us of the service changes and no correspondence giving us a chance to discuss service changes or to pick a new servicing schedule and dumpster size that would still meet our needs without impacting our business operations. A one yard dumpster, even serviced weekly, isn’t compatible with our needs and the unannounced change to a considerably smaller dumpster significantly impacted our business operations. Not to mention the lost 2-3 hours I had to devote to try and call Burgmeier’s to get answers while simultaneously shopping around with other hauling companies. It’s confounding how they have so many people working for their company and yet it seems that no one is ever in their office or available to take phone calls.

How does a company make these sorts of major service changes without notifying their customers or verifying the changes still meet their customers needs? My issue is more over the principle of the matter and Burgmeier’s inability to do the bare minimum when communicating (or lack there of) massive changes to their services that could negatively impact active customers. Had they communicated these changes with us beforehand, we would have likely opted for a more expensive service with them to keep what we already had but with more frequent serving.

The lack of concern and communication continued when I called to inquire about the situation. I was met with poor customer service, conflicting information, and an argumentative customer service representative who very clearly didn’t understand the issue at hand and who just seemed to want to argue verses come to a resolution that resulted in keeping a customer.

I ended up finding a competitor who was able to offer me the larger sized dumpster we’d previously had with a weekly servicing. Even though the new company has better pricing than Burgmeier’s, I would have happily paid 3x the rates Burgmeier’s charges with another company if it meant that I don’t have to deal with unannounced service changes that impact my business, poor customer service, or a company who vary clearly doesn’t value long time, loyal customers.

Between their poor customer service, their servicing incompetencies, and their higher prices, it’s baffling to me that they are still in business.

**Update** We asked for our services to be cancelled and the dumpster to be picked up on or after a certain date. Unsurprisingly Burgmeier’s incompetence knows no bounds and they have instead picked up the dumpster four days early, well before the date we’ve asked to cancel, leaving us without trash service for much of the work week. I’ll never recommend this company to anyone I like.

We have had an absolutely horrible experience with Burgmeiers. Missed trash pick ups for several weeks, called and called and called, no one ever answers or calls you back. Finally I get through to someone after weeks of calling and say I want to cancel. She said ok, you’re cancelled. No apology or wanting to make it right. Several days later get a final bill in the mail. Takes WEEKS to answer the phone but they sure were quick to send a bill! I don’t know how they’re still in business with the amount of bad reviews!

Used Burgmeier's Shredding today. They were fantastic. This is the second time we have used them and will continue. The staff that came were so friendly and helpful.

I had several weeks of trash not picked up in a row about 2 months ago. So i called in and asked if my service was stopped. They said no it’s still on but my bill was a little overdue. So I said, yeah I’ll pay it. The lady tried to run my card twice and said it won’t go thru. I went to the store right after and it went they fine there. Anyway, I figured since I didn’t pay it, I’m just gonna go a different direction. So I had somebody else handle my trash for the past 6 weeks. Then today, I get a charge of 211.00 on my debit card, without authorization. Wow. It wasn’t enough that you charge 8.00 more per month than everyone else in Altoona, but now you are just gonna take peoples money without asking?

Nothing like having my trash service I pay for to come and pick my neighbors trash up instead of mine. Call several times and here it is four days later my trash still sitting where it always sat for trash pick up. So what am I paying trash service for. They glad to take your money but it’s an inconvenience for the driver to come pick it up.

Have been using them for over a year and they've never missed a pick-up. Tried calling the office and nothing. The only response I got was from a guy in their Bedford office. This is unacceptable and will most likely find another hauler that's cheaper and on time.

Been a customer for almost 15 years, even threw a move I still kept Burgmeiers. I called last Thursday to CANCEL my service! In the last year I've had several no pick-ups, have had several "late" pick-ups (which is normally the next day after my trash has already been strung threw my yard by critters and I've called to complain) As I said I cancelled my service last Thursday BUT I'm paid until the end of the month which means I have 2 more pick-ups. Today and next Wednesday, I even went over that with Robert (Bedford office) when I cancelled my service. So past a Burgmeiers truck this morning on my road as I was leaving for work at 6: 45am. I got off work, low and behold my trash is STILL sitting in my yard. Tried to call and of course you gotta leave a voicemail because no on EVER picks up. After reading the rest of these reviews I genuinely don't understand how you're staying in business? I will be SO happy to be done with Burgmeier's!

They were good till the magical system "updated" and every week for 5 weeks in a row, they didn't pick our trash up. I would call and it would go straight to VM. No one returns our calls. I know how they stay in business with their inflated prices, but how they remain in business by not picking up and doing what their paid to do, is mind boggling.

Like everyone else is saying. Was good untill new computer system.missed a couple of pick ups. Changed the time of pick up without sending something out to let people know. And today being a holiday week usually backs everything up a day but not this week.

Customer for many years. New year brought a lot of bad experiences. 3 misses all together and 5 late pickups (some up to 4 days late) in 8 weeks. We paid 3 months at a time via credit card so we had the ability to dispute the charges, so i did hoping that it might get someone attention… no luck. Calls to customer service went to voicemail with no return calls. Several stops at the office yielded little more than excuses… new driver, bad weather, new computer system. Stopped in office to cancel service and they appeared genuinely shocked. Not sure what changed after Jan 1,2022 but it’s not for the better.

They will cash your check with no issue but will not pick up your trash. This is three weeks in a row they haven't picked it up.

They were great for 10+ yrs however due to poor planning when they updated a computer program they lost customer information. It’s a mystery to me how these guys have gone down my street for decades never missing a pickup and now they have repeatedly failed to pick up the garbage. Come on guys we have loved your service for years. However…. Get it together man

Have been calling for three weeks to arrange for residential shredding. Phone calls, emails, voice mails are not returned. The only response I get is the route driver is overwhelmed…. Here is his cell phone number…this isn’t answered either nor are voice mails returned.
