I've been working with Bryan for just over 1 year now on the construction of my new townhouse in Brookside Heights. Bryan has been very responsive and is always a call/text/email away. It has been great so far and I look forward to continue work with Bryan and the rest if the Burkentine team as the construction moves on and then finally moving next year.

I built a custom home with Burkentine and Sons. I would like to start by saying I can’t thank Mike, Stacy, Keith, Scott and Lindsay enough. I purchased and am building a house from long distance and communication is really important on this build. I haven’t closed on my house yet but here are some lessons I learned along the way. House hunt before you get one built. Know exactly what you want and what you don’t want. Know what your deal breakers are. It is not in your best interest to see a house and say give me that exactly unless it is EXACLY what you want. This is a completely custom build. You will have to pick everything and I mean everything. Some things come with the house and some will be some $$$. Be prepared to give up some cash if you want extras. Do not, do not, do not spend all of your money during selection, there will be other options as things move along. If something comes up later you are without the ability to get what you need or want. For example, you don’t want to build a custom house and not be able to afford the appliances or lighting you want. In other words don’t deplete your funds out the gate. This is very important. Do some research, learn about other companies, other builders and how they build their houses. Quality time, materials, durability and customer service was important to me. If you want a super big house fast go with Ryan Homes, materials and quality are different and may not make you as happy. The list with other companies go on and on and by no means do I want to throw anyone under the bus. Make your own descision and do your research on the company, on building materials, and on the structural integrity of your custom build. If you have problems during your build address them immediately. Many companies will try to evade the issue. I can really say that when I picked Burkentine they have really stepped up and tried to accommodate everything I needed. Ask questions! Don’t be afraid to pick something apart until you understand. Don’t leave a meeting confused and be mad later because you didn't get it in the first place. Always check and double check everything before you sign it. If you can get a second set of eyes in case you missed something. If you are doing a custom build.it does not happen overnight. Be patient remember the three factors FAST+CHEAP+QUALITY. When working with a project you only get TWO. For example, if you want it fast with good quality it won’t be cheap. If you want it cheap and fast it won’t be great quality. I say that to say if you want your house built set yourself a timeline so you don’t stress yourself out. You want it built well so be patient. Take your time to make your selections. If you don’t like the options at the office don’t just pick something. Go to Lowe’s and look at Lowe’s online. Really take your time and locate what you want. If you have to order 1 tile in just to see what it looks like do it. I found something after the fact and I wish I had done more store research on tile. You have a moment to decide, don’t rush into it. Make sure if you do pick something different or directional leave specific instructions as soon as you get it. Do not just assume the tile or flooring people will know what you want. If you want herringbone let them know from the beginning. Again, I can’t say it enough, do some research to get it how you want it and communicate it with the builder. More to follow at a later date. I will keep you updated as I close and move in.

We just finished Building with Burkentine and we had a great expemerice with this builder. There are a lot of moving parts during the build and they handled everything with care and communication. We highly recommend Burkentine to any person trying to achieve their dream of owning their own home.
