Butcher and Singer, Philadelphia PA

First time here. The ambience is amazing. The food was so delicious too. The price point was similar to other nice steakhouses and everything was cooked well.
The butcher salad was huge - a meal in itself. My filet mignon was cooked medium rare perfectly and had a good sear to it. The fried shrimp were large, delicious, and very filling. The mashed potatoes looked runny but were actually the perfect consistency with just the right creamy, buttery ratio. Oh gosh, I couldn't get enough of them. We were all so stuffed that we couldn't get dessert. The desserts seemed hearty and I wished they had a light dessert, like a sorbet.
They also had a huge wine selection. I loved that I could order a half bottle of wine, it was perfect for my meal.

Omg, I loved this place! I stopped in on whim with my fiancé. We were headed to an event in the area and really wanted to have a nice dinner first. It was a Saturday night and the place was pretty busy. We didn’t have a reservation. Luckily, we were able to sit at a table in the bar area.

There was no white tablecloth on our little table, but we got impeccable service. Our server was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered from cocktails to desserts and everything in between, of course. I would go back for the biscuits and butter alone. I still crave it! Now anytime we go to another steakhouse we compare biscuits and say, “nothing like Butcher and Singers. ” Lol

The ambience is really nice. It definitely has that old Hollywood vibe and the decor is so cool. It kind of transports you to another time. It’s a whole experience. I would recommend dressing up and taking some cute photos.

As for the what we ordered, we got the optimist cocktail. It’s a Reposado tequila cocktail served on the rocks. It reminded me of a Paloma with the grapefruit, but it definitely had a different essence about it. It was delicious. We got oysters and the wedge salad to start. They were nothing too special, but good nonetheless. The porterhouse for two was delicious and you can’t go wrong with string beans and mashed potatoes. For dessert we got the pumpkin cheesecake (so good) and sorbet (I believe it was mandarin? ! I can’t recall, but it was the perfect palette cleanser). I will definitely be back for white tablecloth service next time!

I would give the restaurant a 5 star review but I just can't because of the waitress (who I can't even address by name because she did not introduce herself). The waiteess was very much nasty, didnt once ask us once how we were doing, gave attutude when we asked about specific items on the menu, and appeared to treat all the Black people poorly and nasty and the white people with respect. I know this to be true, because there was a couple sitting in front of me who she was servicing as well and I asked them how did they like the waitress service was and they stated it was horrible. I wanted to report her to the Manager, but I didnt. I am just disapointed as that was my first time at the resturant and it was not a good first impression!

This is amazing place, food was so good, and onion soup, meat, all was so professionally cooked, served, and all staff so nice! Love their desserts, omg, we had next day other dinner place but regrets that we didn’t back for another day, but we back for desserts, ordered 3.really great spend time for foodies, price was exactly for what a you pay for! 5 stars. I wasn't dressed for the occasion, but they didn't seem to mind. Everything was fantastic, from the ambiance to the meal.

Pricey but worth it for a fine dining experience which harkens back to an earlier time. Brian our waiter was excellent, as was the food and drink. Atmosphere and decor can't be beat!

From the biscuits to the dessert everything was great! The steak? I felt like it was melting in my mouth. And the ambience is the perfect setting for date night,

The atmosphere is great the food is ok and the wait staff is awesome but the reason for the 1? The restaurant policy on seating… we had a party of 6 and 4 of us were there… explain to me why we have to stand and wait at the front door for the other 2 members to the party? Saturday night all the parking garages were full so they are struggling to park… cool. Why can’t we sit at the table and order drinks? The table they have ready for us that’s sitting there unoccupied the whole time. That’s absolutely ridiculous having to crowd the front door because we can’t sit

Damn that mac n cheese Great! Had a great time on Sat. Forgot my waiter name but he knew US! Love it

The setting was beautiful but as far as the food, not good. My steak that I asked for “medium” came back blue/rare. The mashed potatoes has absolutely no seasoning and tasted like instant microwave mash, the string beans were just okay but had a sour taste that wasn’t pleasant paring with the other food. Really disappointing for a $180 bill and driving 2 hours

Beautiful facility, steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection (med rare & med). 3 of us had the filet and the 'big guy' had the bone in filet - couldn't finish it. Nice wine and drink selection and one side dish was the creamed spinach, terrific. The other was 'mac and cheese'. We're from the South and um, the mac and cheese could stand some improvement. Not bad, just not up to our standard (slight tongue in cheek). Next visit, we'll definitely return.

Atmosphere fantastic, food always delicious, service always pleasing and helpful. Great place for intimate dining. Location and parking decent.

First time for all 3 of us! A very intimate setting, dimmed lighting! Not alot of seafood options, so I got the pork chop, which was super juicy and tasty

Went there for birthday Celebration. Hostesses were really nice, but the waitress (Sta**y) did not even bother to refill our water and drinks.and never came back after promised to take pictures for us. Totally ruined our mood… her service should really be improved. We could literally hear the waitress spent most of her time talking to the guys behind us and not even came check with us how’s the food once… we also waited 20 minutes to pay for the check…Really disappointed with the price we paid for…

The food was very good. What I enjoyed most was the ambiance and the music! The wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth visiting.
