Have played here for a number of years. Always enjoyed it and the irrigation improvements brought the course up a few notches. It's a nice challenging public course.
HOWEVER, I am now taking Butter Valley off my list of playable courses due to extreme slow play. The first and second time I played on the weekends, a full round took 5 3/4 hours. I played one time during the week and was able to play in 4 1/2 hours. My 4th time playing, this past weekend, and I had to leave after the 13th hole due to multiple foursomes on the holes in front of us and having it already taken over 4 hours to make it through 13 holes.
Most courses no longer have them, but there needs to be a ranger to keep things moving and golfers need to be cognizant of their time and keep up with the pace of play.

Beautiful course. Very well maintained. Love seeing the wildlife there. Today we had two deer run across the fairway near where we were hitting. Some carts have the GPS system which tells you about the hole and pace of play.

Appropriately priced public course. Scenic holes and challenging greens. Pace of play slightly slower than I would have liked, but not too bad. Good value for price.

Great golf course for a good price. Challenging with nice greens.
Never seen a golf course with a plane landing strip going through it.

The course was in great shape. The greens were fast. Butter Valley has some of the longest and hardest par 5. I would match them up against any course or club in the area. It's a fun course to play. It will be on our regular list of places to play.
Ps. The hot dogs are really good. Lol

I love this course.the layout is great. Greens were consistent. I love the almost 600 yd Par 5. Just a great course.

Played here yesterday and the course is in excellent shape. It’s not very long which is good for a short hitter like myself, but it is quite challenging! The greens and bunkers were well maintained. The only gripe I have is the lack of distance markers. Nothing on sprinkler heads and only the first couple of holes have 150 markers. After that, your guess is as good as mine. The par 3’s do have a distance marker on the tee box. Would definitely play here again!

Played 6/17 and the course was in pretty good shape but the greens were covered in sand and must have been aerated within the past few weeks but no mention of that on the website or in the clubhouse so that was kind of disappointing. The layout is fun and a good mix of hole layouts. No issues with the pace of play but we always play very early tee times.

Very interesting layout and the course is in good condition. The greens are excellent. Burgers and dogs made on the grill are also top notch. John the owner and most of the starters and clubhouse staff are extremely friendly and helpful, but there is an older gentleman working the counter many weekdays who is prickly and downright nasty. Pace of play on weekends can get slow, but that is not unexpected given the volume of golfers. All in all, far more positives than negatives and I plan on playing there again soon.

First let me say the golf course was in good shape, greens very good and fast. If any thing to pick on at the course, I was no big fan of the par-3 greens, the penalty was to severe, in my opinion, with big drop offs on the back side, don’t hit to long.
Upon arrival we were met by a cart offering to take us to the clubhouse, very nice.
Entering the pro-shop, was ok, usually a greeting is being given, here there was nothing.
The attendant was rather short and did not seem very friendly, but but.
NB. Butter valley golf port, charges extra for use of credit cards, I found no mention of this on their web site, and this was the first time I have encountered this in this area, maybe I’ve been lucky to avoid this. But combined with the cool reception I doubt I’ll be back in a while.

Always a great experience at Butter Valley! They're in the process of fixing the cart paths and when done will be a much smoother ride around the course

Have played here a few times a year for 50 years. Small runway for small planes down center of course. Not long but made tough by small greens. Greens usually good but sometimes get beat up from constant play Fairly priced.

Not sure when this was aerated but seemed recent. Not slits or punched but cut. Made it very bad for putting. Hadn’t played there in 20 years. Guy at desk could be a bit more pleasant. Maybe just smile now and then. Yikes. Hopefully greens get better and would try again just for the cost.

Course was very crowded. The greens were freshly aerated and very sandy. The round took almost 5 hours and there was no ranger to move things along. Won't be going back for awhile. We waited on almost every shot. It wasn't even a weekend. Very disappointed.

This is a pretty course in the fall to play. The country side is lit up with fall colors. Don't underestimate this course, it's a challenge and a joy to play this time of the year.
