California Taco, Lake Ariel PA

I don't agree with some of the poor reviews for this restaurant. This is a small non-chain restaurant with a different style of food when compared to other Mexican style fast food restaurants in the area (Taco Bell, Chipotle, etc.) Food is made to order & if there are any ingredients you want added, or removed, from your food the staff is always willing to customize your order. The employees have always been friendly & the food good. I recommend trying the BBQ Chicken Burrito. The only recommendation I offer to this business is to have at least two servers on the line at all times (if possible), the wait for your food, especially if there are customers ahead of you in line, will be several minutes. I may have lower standards than others, but I personally see no reason to rate this restaurant anything less than 3 stars!

If I could give no stars I would. Place is by far THE WORST! Absolutely rude owner. Food tastes like it was good weeks ago maybe. Never going there again! If you’d like massive diarrhea and border line food poisoning definitely stop in here you get just that!

Their parking lot is a great place to puke up a bad shrimp taco. I recommend the textured soy protein taco, which goes by the name "beef" on the menu.

I always get the island tacos. They're always great. I haven't tried much of their menu but I'm always happy with what I get

Fish tacos called "island taco" was very good with lots of shrimp and a nice sauce. The pork carnitas I got were very greasy and not as good. Service was quick and friendly. Good hot sauce too

Ordered the mango chicken burrito but actually had a rice burrito. It was okay as far as taste goes but hardy anything in it but rice. Also the woman who made it doesn’t know how to roll a burrito. It was a big mess. I wouldn’t bother going there.

Have stopped at taco joints all over the country and this was the worst! Thought I’d try a taco place in my backyard and was very dissatisfied. Ordered carnitas tacos and a beef taco. Asked for lime wedges for the pork. They had none. The pork was watery and no flavor. The beef was super mushy and not flavored well. Took a bite of each and threw them away. Won’t be back!

Had their new empanadas today, they were excellent! I stop in anytime I want fresh homade food.

Use To go there all the time and stopped for about a year cause it was awful I went there Saturday night 28 January and ordered two fish tacos and a California rice bowl I will come back because the tacos with me just right I don’t know who the little girl was that was doing it she was all alone by yourself there waiting on all those people and she still managed To wait on six people that wants the tacos was delicious and I just want you to know she’s a good worker I don’t know her name but it was Saturday, 28 January At about 5 o’clock at night

Ordered the fried Oreos and fried bananas. The Oreos were rock hard and almost broke a tooth, and the bananas were brown and it was one tiny piece inside a huge piece of dough. The bananas were somewhat edible, but need some type of sauce to go along with it, otherwise it’s just dough and powered sugar, and not in a good way. First and last time coming here.

Finally tried this place yesterday. I think it had taco meat inside, maybe not, but other than being loaded with rice and a few beans I can’t say much more. From when she put a huge scoop of rice on the tortilla I knew it was going downhill quickly. For ten bucks I can do way better. I know it’s hard to get help but really The woman who waited on me was on her mobile phone the entire time from before I ordered to when I left. Oh for those who wondered what the call was about her friend did buy the house in the hideout! I won’t be back

So being from New York every place I have ever travelled I have seen a garbage pizza place bearing the New York branding. This is similar but calling yourself California taco maybe accurate. The food was greasy, had a very high rice to meat ratio and though the woman was super nice to me she was not so nice to the person who came in to complain about her order while I was there. I figured that might have been a one off and came back because there is basically zero food diversity here and I was hoping it’s would be better. I got tacos because the burrito was all rice and had zero flavor. The tacos were again weirdly greasy so much so it required several napkins to clean my hands after. The meat was again nearly flavorless. I have nothing positive to add further.

The staff, specifically the lady working last Wednesday the 12th, is remarkable.
I don't know how she managed as much as she did all at the same time by herself out front. When a place is busy you truly see if it's worth your drive. The team in the back made fresh quick and same quality they do on slow hours. Bravo!
We were introduced to this place by some friends, and have been back multiple times. Even being 35 mins away, it worth the drive on Taco Tuesday night. Although, being from Texas, I have a few ideas they should try stealing!
P. S. I will trade ideas for free tacos.
