Cannot say enough good things about the folks at Camp-A-While. Was traveling to Old Forge, NY and needed a place to stop for the night, made my first mistake in thinking a KOA would be a good place to stop on a Thursday night, but they wanted to charge me for three nights (they said it was the weekend, Bah!) Second mistake was a state park.won't go into that debacle. Getting late, driving down the road and desperately looking for a place and found CAW on the phone so gave a call hoping they were around. I was greeted by a lovely human voice who was thoughtful, kindly and all around wanting to help us out.told us to come on in they would keep open until we got there. The office had a fire in the fireplace and just was so welcoming, the atmosphere matched the people working the office. Our night was pleasant, and we left early in the morning. Got a call from the office a day later telling me they found some keys at our site, since we were not coming back that way I asked if they could send them to me (thinking that will cost me). But I should have known. With a quick response of "yes not a problem" I was dumfounded. I should have known from the night before the kind of generous and good people there at Camp A While. I got my keys shortly after I got home and to my relief it held the key to my desk. Cannot say enough good things about these folks. The only challenge we had was trucks going up and down the highway at night.but other than that we will make it our stop on our next trip to Old Forge.

In short; Top tier campground, For the win!

Highly recommended. I won't spend much repeating what so many others have. It's true, the staff are VERY kind and helpful. The campground is beautiful (painfully understated). The site was level. Where they really shined was their ability to respond when things didn't go perfect. We arrived during a torrential downpour. Leave it to some of our fellow New Hampshire folk in an RV to take the wrong spot forcing another to do the same. We called the office and. In the middle of the downpour, the friendly lady from the office (not fair to call it an office; this place is more like a fully equipped lodge, game room, etc.) showed up and led us to an alternate spot just up the hill. They had us guided into the spot and out of the rain in minutes. 100% impressed with their ability to respond to a situation like that. The heavy rainfall resulted in very very minor erosion (barely an inch or two width streams). Yet, the staff were on a tractor and had it re-graded to perfect first thing in the morning. Their dedication to campers satisfaction is worthy of note. Having a family of 6 onboard, this is exactly the kind of campground that we are looking for to add to our list of safe and reliable campgrounds. We went to Knoebels, visited #9 Coal Mine, walking trails, etc. The campground is quiet and peaceful. Yet, sufficient amount of white noise from rustling leaves, and the flowing brook out back provides privacy for conversations. Friendly campers (both transients and seasonals). The staff are pro's and their campground is a slice of Heaven. We are optimistically confident that we'll be back next spring, and/or fall.

This family owned campground is off I-81 on a mountain road. Our host was quick to escort us to our level, gravel site and offered to guide us in. The facilities are clean and the camp store is well stocked, even offering frozen meat and baked goods from local businesses. This is a great stopover or longer stays for nearby attractions. Light sleepers may find the the trucks navigating the hill to be a challenge, but it wouldn’t deter us from visiting again.

The nicest people you'd like to meet. Rob was really helpful with replacing a couple of roof vents. Thanks again Rob! We recommended them to our friends who are going thru there. We'll stay again on our way south from New Hampshire.

To be honest, I didn’t get to experience much of the park while I was there. There are nature trails and fresh baked goods and butchered meats that I did not get to sample. My experience was needing a place to stay overnight on an extended trip and booking it last minute. Late-ish check in and early check out. I got a quick, hassle-free check in, friendly people, and a lovely site for a very fair price. I splurged and bought a bundle of wood (and it was a nice sized bundle) and made myself a warm fire on that cold night. That’s all I got to experience that night. But now I know a place to have an longer stay next time I want to come out to the area, and I’ll make sure I do.

This is our second year staying at Camp-A-While. We ride dirt bikes and a sidexside so we spend the summers here to be close to FRO for riding. We will back again next year. We also RV full-time so we want a place to just enjoy weekly living and Camp-A-While provides that as well. It's a nice quiet campground. They have a nice pool, game room, volleyball, horseshoes and the nature trail. You can also try your luck at fishing in the pond.not sure you will catch anything to big but you know how fishing stories go. The owners Rob and Michelle are so friendly. The campground store is well stocked with anything you might need
Stop in for a night or more you won't regret it!

Really nice with full hook ups. We have a 33ft travel trailer. Wooded and pretty level. We only stayed one night, and will definitely be back for multiple stay!

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Camp-A-While! Everything is extremely well maintained, beautiful property, great store area and friendly staff. They have wonderful amenities and planned activities. The sites are a great size and decently level. We truly enjoyed our time and would/ most likely will gladly return!

All the comments about truck traffic, hills and braking, and owners is true. Steep hill, truck traffic, and nice folks checking you in. But had a beautiful shady back-in with full hookup for my 40 footer. Site on the side of the hill and was amazingly level. Good roads in but crowded at the entry with u turns for folks on the western side. Make sure you give yourself plenty of turning room for the right turn into the eastern side.it's pretty narrow. Most utilities look to be mid site or closer to the front.

Nice little campground with a pool and clean restrooms. Camp store for any forgotten items. We pre-oredered our firewood and it was at our site upon arrival.

We only stayed one night but we’re very pleased with this park! Clean showers and well maintained sites. Some traffic noise but not really loud. Will definitely stay here again on our trips to New England.

Great campground. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We found this campground while searching online when planning a trip to central Pennsylvania to visit my grandfather's hometown (Pottsville) I would definitely recommend staying at Camp A-While if your planning on doing some camping. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. They have a ton of stuff to do like swimming in the pool. A wonderful playground for children, fishing pond, games and arcades and a beautiful nature trail that takes you around a mountain. There is also a camp store that is well stocked. There are some attractions that aren't too far away such as Yuengling brewery (Pottsville) as well as the Pioneer tunnel coal mine and steam train (Ashland) both are about a 20 minute drive from the campground. I will definitely be staying at Camp A-While again when make my next visit to Pennsylvania!

This was an overnight stop for us in our 38' Class A. If you are coming from the interstate, take heed of the speed warnings. The entrance to the campground is on a road with a 9% downhill grade. Even in low gear, my brakes were getting quite warm.
The park is awesome, as are the staff. The sites were level, clean and gravel. There appear to be a handful of permanent residents but there are plenty of daily rental sites. Sites were well set up with utilities easily within reach and water quality was good. The camp store had everything you could possibly need, from locally grown and butchered meats to fishing worms.
While there, we visited the Pioneer Tunnel, a steam locomotive ride with some local history and a tour of a coal mine. Highly recommended.

Very nice nature trail, wish the campsites were up there away from the road! Well stocked campstore with Amish baked goods and local meat. In a tent it was like sleeping on the interstate though, very loud and nearly constant tractor trailer noise and frequent helicopter flyovers. Good enough for a one night stopover on 18hr drive but do not recommend for tent camping unless you bring earplugs.
