Capricorn Books, Jenkintown PA

Capricorn has been open a year now—if you haven’t been, what are you even doing? Come for joy in the form of books, stay for friendly conversation and the best recs from the owner Jackie! It’s a small store that packs in a lot, and they can order something specific if they don’t have it. There’s also a fun selection of art prints, stickers, mugs, cards… and one time somehow I even left with chocolate and salami? Even more, they’re supportive of local authors, host fun events, and look for ways to support the community.

I remember Jackie having a vendor spot during the Jenkintown Summer Music Series 2022 and found the trunk full of books to be adorable. I enjoyed stopping by to visit this unique idea with other vendors selling food and beverages. When Capricorn Books opened, a local photographer and I checked in for a #first visit and the atmosphere felt the same as the vendor spot. The book selection has grown over time, along with options to purchase/order books. Local artists have stickers, prints and more sold through Capricorn Books which shows support to select local businesses. Events occur and have a healthy turnout based on content uploaded to their social medias. Jenkintown is blessed to have a small business like Capricorn Books, thank you for being a part of the borough.

Love this place! Good selection of books and accessories for a small, independent bookstore. Would rather shop here than the big box stores!

Capricorn books is an awesome little bookshop with quite a selection of new and used books along with some vinyl records, games, stationary, etc. It’s extremely charming inside and the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. They can order books they don’t have in stock and it seems as though the orders come in pretty quickly. Capricorn is the rare hometown bookstore that every town should have and we’re lucky to have them in Jenkintown. Check them out!

So glad this little book shop opened up in Jenkintown. It has the best selection of new and used books, art, chocolate, and more. They’ll happily order books for you that they may not have in the store. Jackie is super sweet and helpful. My husband is obsessed with cheese selection they sometimes offer during events.

We had a wonderful visit at this bookstore! She was super friendly and helpful, and had a great collection of vinyl and both new and used books! I also really appreciated how she had products from local artists in her store, and that she intends on doing some really cool things with even more artists in the near future! It’s a little out of the way for us, but we will definitely be back!

Such a cute little shop! I will definitely be coming back for one of the teacup candles in the future.

Come for the thoughtful literary curation, stay for the eclectic interior decoration. Possibly the best service they offer is rapid ordering of books which they might not have on hand.

I love this place! The people are lovely, the vibes are ~cozy~ and the selection is incredible. It's a must-visit in the Jenkintown area! I brought home a cute little tea candle and added it to the reading nook, it's beautiful!
