Andrew and his crew in the Flemington store are open, honest and don't try to convince you into buying chemicals you don't need. They tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to keep your pool in excellent condition!

All I have to say is WOW! I don’t usually write reviews but the service Carltons provided from meeting with the our sales guy Matt to them finishing to the final detail. It only took them 3 months from start to finish! They did an amazing job, very quick and I have to say the best service in communication throughout the whole process. I would say to anybody you’d be crazy not to use them. I interviewed four other pool companies and none of them compared to how professional they were through the whole process.

It has been 2 years since Carlton has completed my pool. I have a warranty issue involving the Aqua Brite finish that is peeling. I have called their warranty division and have not received a response. No one at the home office has returned any of my phone calls of emails. Pablo Mattos (site supervisor) doesn't return phone calls or texts. Pablo inspected the pool last fall and promised to follow up. I haven't seen or heard from him since. Like others I have been more than patient. Horrible Customer Service.

Why does the owner only respond to the positive reviews on this site?

7/24- ere is the demand letter sent to the owner. I will post his response.
Dear Mr. Joe Solana:
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you as a result of an incident that occurred on or about May 30th, 2023, which has caused damage to my property and has resulted in financial losses. Per our telephone conversation you made it known you are aware of this matter. It is my belief that your company’s negligence directly caused the damage to my swimming pool pump, and I am hereby seeking compensation for the costs associated with replacing it.
On or about May 30th, 2023, employees of Carlton Pools were present at my property located at 32 Quaker Dr, Newtown Pa 18940, where your employees were granted access to the swimming pool area. The pump was in perfect operating order. It had been working flawlessly for the previous 3 summers and was working without issue from our opening, in early April, until your employees entered the property on May 30th. Your employees re-architected my entire piping infrastructure and worked on the electrical fuse box which the pump was also connected to. During their presence, and due to what I believe was negligent actions, the swimming pool pump was broken, rendering it inoperable. The exact cause of the damage was your employee’s failure to exercise due care and caution while using the pool area. As a result, the pump sustained irreparable damage and required immediate repair and replacement. Your company was asked and given ample opportunity to work jointly with me in finding an amicable solution that made both parties satisfied. You and your employees have refused any and all attempts.
The financial losses incurred as a direct result of the aforementioned incident include the cost of replacing the swimming pool pump. After consulting with a professional pool maintenance company, the cost of repair or replacement amount was $1,588.67
Considering the circumstances and the evidence supporting your negligence, I kindly demand immediate compensation in the amount of $1,588.67 to cover the expenses incurred for the replacement of the swimming pool pump. I am open to receiving this compensation in services credit to be used at my discretion or monetarily. I am even willing to entertain a fair counteroffer. This demand is reasonable and in line with the actual costs resulting from your companies’ actions.
Please be aware that if this matter is not resolved promptly and to my satisfaction, I will be left with no choice but to pursue legal action against you in the Pennsylvania small claims court to recover the damages I have suffered. This may result in additional costs and legal fees that you will be responsible for.
I strongly urge you to take this matter seriously and address it in a timely manner. To facilitate a resolution, I request that you respond to this letter no later than 10 business days from the date of receipt. Failure to respond or to reach a mutually agreeable solution may force me to proceed with legal action, which I would prefer to avoid. I will be posting this letter along with your response on social media so other customers can see how you manage situations of this nature.
Please consider this letter as a genuine attempt to resolve the matter without resorting to litigation. I trust that you will be fair and reasonable take immediate action to rectify the damage caused.
I look forward to receiving your response and resolving this matter amicably.

6/27-Update- In attempt to avoid going to court I call Carlton and spoke to their owner. I asked if he would amicably be willing to settle the matter to avoid court. He told me if I took him to court he would "embarrass me" and wouldn't give me a nickel. He was belligerent, intolerant, angry and threatening. It' clear where his employees get it from. Off to court. I'll update once there is a decision.

I am in no way an expert in many aspects of what I will relay but this is my experience.
Honestly, the work that was done has held up so far and our pool looks great. We will see how it holds up through the years and I am hopeful with proper care the lifetime of the remolding we had performed last for 8-15 years. This is strictly for the company and not the stores.

Here are the key takeaways from my experience.
1. The aquaBright product is not for all pools. It is more for new construction or smooth pools. So if you have an older pool be advised that this product may not work for you.
2. Be aggressive with you schedule. There are so many setbacks that occurred with our instance. Get it done quickly but also mindful of the time of year. We were roughly two weeks beyond what we wanted (Memorial Day weekend).
3. DiamondBright has a lot of upfront care. Sources vary but I would research as much as you can.

Our experience.
We signed a contract close to 30K for aquaBright solution for remolding for our pool. I had to prompt the sales representative to get everything started. It felt as though I needed to initiate and remind them of the contract. The sales representative will punt you over to, essentially, an internal PM who you’ll work with. They manage all the contractors that do the work, arrange and collect payment. Things were to say the least rocky, given all this work is outsourced through Carlton, you will get a date but I believe nearly all of our appointments ran a day behind or a day over (total of six appointments, three I feel we’re on time). This is due to other jobs and weather, not negligent on anyone’s part.

The problem we ran into was that once our old plaster was sandblasted off it was decided that our surface was not smooth enough to get aquaBright. This is where I will reference #1 above. A few options here, you can attempt a veto (this did not work) ; you can plaster first then get aquaBright (basically two remodels$$$) or go with basic plaster or another solution (diamondbright$$). Now, at this stage it’s important to understand the frustration, delays of an empty pool which this could cause damage and then secondly two of the options that I had involved spending more money, one for an inferior product in my opinion. I chose to purchase the inferior product (meaning more chemical usage and more maintenance). The important takeaway in my eyes is to understand that only a limited visual inspection is performed to sell you a product for remolding. However, until you surface is clean and clear there is no way to know what will work. I believe if you do intend on getting aquaBright, talk about the backup options and plan. We did not do this. Of course two contracts won’t be presented but if you can negotiate that (one for aquaBright, one for your backup) I would pressure that to lock in the price; because the prices of these materials did shift. As much as I tried to negotiate price or get my desired original outcome it did not work.

Lastly, shop around. I’m sure the prices are very similar across the companies. However, all the jobs were outsourced essentially and all the contractors can likely be contacted and directly hired. Would this be cheaper, I can only imagine there is some up-charging involved in what I purchased

Been a customer at New Britain location for years. Used Leslie and Anthony & Sylvan in the past but felt like they were there to sell as many chemicals as possible after a water test. Carlton was the first place I’ve been where I feel like I’m being given honest professional advice whether I need chemicals or not. Happy to be assisted by the staff in New Britain.
